@warioswoods: have you ever played Star Trek: Borg before? it was a game for Windows 95/98 and it was totally a point-and-click Star Trek adventure featuring Q as he 'helps' a cadet to save his father back at Wolf 359. It's kind of a short game, but it's both absolutely hilarious and awesome... and the best part is that it totally takes advantage of the Tapestry situation (with Q in the white room playing God every time you make a decision that winds up with you dying, lol).

anyway, back to the original post... my husband and I are both huge Star Trek fans; TOS is my absolute favorite, but he got me loving DS9 a couple years back. I never could stand DS9 back when it was airing new, but now i guess i can understand it better than when i was younger, lol. And don't blame me for not watching Enterprise enough... toward the end, they kept moving it around different channels and time-slots, so i was either always working or watching something else. I'm pretty sure it was on against wrestling at one point as well... sorry, ENT, but you'll be on DVD someday, and mah testosterone-y soaps run live. :3

and re: absolute favorite ST episodes, my favorite TOS ep is The Empath. It centered on the Trio (i loves me some Kirk, Spock, and McCoy interaction kthx), and it showed how much they really cared (in a totally platonic way) for each other, that they would each go out of their way to be the one to lay down his life so that the others would be spared. The Vians and Gem were nearly incidental to what played out between the Trio in that episode.

@JR, bboy: i'm pretty sure Nintendo requires that the DSi the games are being transferred from be broken somehow -- they were only willing to do that if you sent both the broken (non-working condition) and good DSis to them, and they'd do it for you as a favor. Not two good, working-condition DSis. I doubt wario would be willing to break one just to have the other with all his games on it.

edit: in fact, here's the official word on that. though if you call them up and it turns out policy for the US is different, that would be pretty awesome. :3

personally, I think it's easy, but then I've played it a bazillion times. Though there are still places in the game that can give me problems if i'm not adequately prepared (damn you world 7 and your black-piranha-plant-alternating-pipes), those kinds of levels that still provide challenge are why I go back and play through SMB3 every so often. :3

Will it need voice acting? Probably not, or at least i'd hope not. I'd certainly hope a Zelda game would be able to keep me captivated via story and interesting dungeons alone, flashy graphics and other frills (minigames, collecting quests, trading sequences, etc.) aside.

That said, i've never really been a fan of voice-acted games to begin with. I've always preferred just coming up with my own voices for the characters in my own head... sometimes one annoying voice can make the game's dialogue a chore to wallow through. If they do have voice-acting in the new Zelda Wii game, I hope they allow us to turn the voice volume down or off in the options menu. :3

Personally, I like the gameplay, music and score system, but that's just me. :)

I did indeed complete every level, get every melon, and find the black and white Yoshis. I still was not a huge fan of this game, lol. Beating my own scores did not interest me in the slightest, though making sure I had fully completed the game did keep me busy for a couple days. :3 I just remember that there was a Nintendo Power article or something back then where Miyamoto had been explaining his vision for Yoshi's Story and why they'd created it the way they did (where the ultimate goal was to beat your own scores and compete with your friends amongst yourselves to see who had the best score), and I think I facepalmed when i was done reading it. Ah well.

i do not think that having Moonwalker available reflects in any way on whether or not we'll get more licensed games down the line -- probably the only reason they've even considered releasing that game on the VC is because the family/estateholders/whomever is/are trying to pay off his outstanding debts any way they can.

I picked up Hannenbow earlier, and I'll probably be picking up Beatnes later tonight. I had fun messing around and trying to get the plant to bloom. I could definitely see me just setting this thing up to run as background noise while i'm messing around on the computer, or if i need to relax after work or something. I like how you can turn on the angle degree notations if you want to get all technical with your plant setups, and you can also switch plants with select to get different ones to try. if you were a fan of Rhythm Heaven's little minigames, these might be fun for you... they're not really 'games' so much as they are 'neat little sound applications'. i just wish you could save the music you create and listen to it later if you wanted. :/

the main things were that it didn't have much of a 'story' and it wasn't very hard, really. The entire point of the game was for the player to attempt to outdo themselves by aiming to collect mostly melons, trying to get the black and white Yoshis, playing through each level (as in getting through all the different possible pathways through the 'story') and then, when they're all unlocked for replay, to try and rack up a better score than before in each level. That, and the annoying sounds/soundtrack, didn't sit well with everyone. :3
