tddct89 commented on Review: Ghosts 'n Goblins (Wii U eShop / NES):

I don't understand what's wrong with gamers these days. I'm only 24 so I basically started with the SNES, my NES days consisted mostly of anything Mario and duck hunt. But as soon as I heard this game was really hard I didn't need a review to convince me to buy it. Although Spelunker is so unfair it's the first NES game on the Wii U I truly regret buying.

tddct89 commented on Buddy & Me Hits Kickstarter Target But Misses ...:

@banacheck IOS and Android games will never wipe out console gaming. And if it by some crazy miracle does, it won't be for a long time. Yeah mobile games are cheap and good for a quick bit of fun on the bus or when you've got a minute to spare. But out of all the people that grew up playing games with buttons (I don't believe all these new controller docks for android and iOS will stick around long) very few of those people have ditched the console experience they've grown to love for angry birds and kung fun rabbit. Both of those games are available on consoles now, and kung fun rabbit (at an increased price) will be a day one purchase when it releases on Wii U in NA, it always looked like a cool game, but touch screen controls? No thank you. And remember all of the people that grew up with consoles probably have all 3 last gen consoles (ps3 360 and Wii) plus a Wii U, if not they have a combination of some sort, be it 2 or 3 consoles, or are just not fortunate to have enough disposable income to own all consoles. Most of the fan boys online that argue their console of choice is best seem to be young people that got into the gaming scene when their non-gamer parents bought them an Xbox or PS3, or sometimes Wii, not as often though because IMO as an owner of all consoles, I've taught my siblings, as I will teach my children if I have any, that all consoles have their strengths and weaknesses. If you look at it from that POV and assume that even 20% of gamers grew up with consoles and encourage their kids to give all consoles a fighting chance for their equally great exclusives, with a hypothetical average of 2 kids per family the future looks good for consoles. Add in the once again hypothetical 80% who just ended up with an Xbox or ps3 as a present, who will play with their friends and encourage them their chosen console is best, then you have a lot of potential buyers. Sorry for the long post. Just hope you see my reasoning because I hate the thought of people actually thinking iOS and android is better because they have most games for free, 99 cents, $4.99, and in some ridiculous cases $30-$100. The $1 price tag doesn't justify the fact that the games take a fraction of the production costs, have usually terrible controls, can't hold most peoples attention for more than 5 minutes, and are just generally terrible overall.

tddct89 commented on Talking Point: The Next-Gen Console War is Wii...:

@Ryzilynt I think the idea is that, where I've owned at least 9 maybe more full priced retail games since launch, the only one I haven't traded in is NSMBU. We need more first party games. And considering the Wii u is supposed to be an indie dream platform why aren't indie games rolling onto the eShop every week? It's not that there are no games, its that we need more killer apps, or more games to cater to different gamers. They are doing good with the whole diverse range of genres, but we need our zeldas, Mario's, DKC's, metroids....I know these things take time but my Wii U will collect dust after April if the VC gets pushed back (and with my luck that's exactly what is going to happen.)

@AugustusOxy Not to sound like "one of those guys" but you have no clue. Great games with GREAT graphics DID save the PS3. It wasn't doing well at first but after a price drop and some excellent games and services (i.e PS+) the PS3 quickly picked up steam. It continues to sell well, well enough that high level executives at Sony are putting their faith almost entirely into games to save their company. The PS4 is designed to cut development time and costs, and all those things that make the Wii U easy and cheap to develope for, like Unity, HTML5, not sure about flash cause it's dying out, are all gonna be supported by PS4. PS4 is just as much a developer and indie developer's dream as the Wii U is.

Signed - Proud Wii U, PS3, (and not so proud Wii and 360) owner.

tddct89 commented on Europe Now Receiving Club Nintendo Stars For A...:

Europe gets stars instead of coins? That's pretty cool. Sucks you guys have been getting shafted this whole time though. They should just merge the whole system so we all get the same games and stuff. I just got Super Mario 64 but from what I hear chances are you guys probably got something else (just assuming from what I've read in the past). Come on Nintendo, you're known for not just being family friendly but consumer friendly, every territory should be treated equally. I'm not even from Australia but it still annoys me to hear the way video games are handled there. All the major companies need to sit down and work out a cost effective plan for their ridiculous ratings system. Higher price for rating, higher costs for games, leads to only hardcore games buying very few games. Get gamers equal treatment worldwide somehow and I'm sure markets will be better everywhere :)

tddct89 commented on Cliff Bleszinski Likens The Wii To A "Virus":

I remember when my brother got gears 2 (3 maybe?) And convinced me to play co-op with him. I quit playing after an hour or so and didn't feel compelled to go back. I'm sure they are great games but this guy couldn't be more wrong. I've played my Wii U more than I've played any 360 and I've owned 2. I remember beating halo 4 and DMC, there was probably another game that I finished but can't remember, other than that I've used it for Netflix, until my Wii U came around. Unlike my Wii that sat in the closet until a good first party game came along, I've played my Wii U every day since launch. This isn't the Wii all over again, Nintendo is giving us games that are already out on other consoles, and once they start releasing more HD remakes like wind waker, HD collections, SNES collections (i.e a DKC collection, if they ever figure out what's going on there.) This console is going to blow up like no console before it. I'm not saying it's not a console with potential for failure because it is. But IMO it's a console where potential for extreme success far outweighs potential for failure. And I'm the kind of person that if there isn't a good game for me to buy every week (even an indie game) I'm disappointed in my console. People (including devs) need to have faith, jeez cliff has enough money in his personal bank account to single handedly produce a small fun indie game that will pay for itself on Wii u alone, and if it doesn't port it to steam, ps3, and 360. All the consoles are capable of unity or some other free engine that's easy to port with are they not?

Still don't understand why Nintendo doesn't release NA and EU information simultaneously. Nothing for you guys on the Wii U side, so I'm assuming it will be the same for us. Sorry to hear Runner 2 got pushed back. That really sucks but trust me it's worth the wait.

tddct89 commented on Ubisoft CEO Not Satisfied With Wii U Sales:

He may not be satisfied with Wii U sales but wait until 50 million people own a Wii U and they screw us over like this again. Wait though, they wouldn't screw us over if Wii U was selling like hot cakes. But people don't forget. If Watch Dogs didn't look so damn awesome I would never buy from Ubisoft again. But ZombiU and AC3 sucked in my opinion but I still purchased for full price and TRIED to enjoy them because Ubi was my favorite company. I hope when there are 50 Million Wii U's in peoples homes gamers don't just forget what Ubisoft did.

tddct89 commented on UK Retailers Call For Wii U Price Cut And Fres...:

@Grubdog Do you honestly think Nintendo Land is the Wii U's killer app? A 3D Mario, the new Zelda, Wind waker HD. These will be killer apps. I don't care if people don't believe in system sellers or not but my younger brother who is a big 360 gamer went out and bought a Wii U so he could replay Wind waker, play NSMBU, the new Zelda, and I bet even my mom would buy a Wii U to play an upgraded Wind Waker. Nintendo land was played by my family for maybe 7 days and now sits on the shelf untouched while NSMBU and Trine 2 are the family games of choice. Nintendo Land will not be the Wii U's big game for its entire life span. I highly doubt it will be the killer app for even the first whole year.

@Moshugan not really, I'm not a fan of the multiplayer, its frustrating and all the fun is gone if you play with just one person that doesn't know how to play well. But if you like the multiplayer and it is removed from this DLC then I do feel your pain, it sucks being excluded or missing out on stuff like this.

"If the DLC ain't free, it's not for me."

If this is your view on DLC then I imagine you've missed out on a lot of great DLC in your lifetime because I've rarely gotten good free DLC.

"If it's truly 80 levels, then it's a full game. I can't see that being the case."

I don't understand how someone could watch the Nintendo Direct or read the news about it and still somehow not see that yes, it is 80 new and/or remixed levels just like they said. But oh well, if paid isn't for you that's your loss, I'll still be getting this. I actually said to someone today if they released part 2 with the same engine and just a new set of levels I'd run out and buy it. So this is great news for most people.

tddct89 commented on Mario And Donkey Kong: Minis On The Move Windi...:

I don't get it. I enjoyed minis march again for a bit, but I kind of regretted paying for it shortly after. Why not give us a new Mario vs DK like the gameboy advance one? If it's not broken dont fix/change it Nintendo. A Mario vs DK sequel that plays similar to the first one on Wii U could look amazing considering Very little work needs to go into variety, the variety in the first one was just in the level design not the environments, which I think is why it looked so amazing for a GBA title. sigh sometimes I wish I decided which games got the green light at Nintendo, but considering all racing and most RPG games would never be released I would quickly send the company to its grave.

Whoa, I honestly didn't think I'd be getting any games this week and I was right. But just last night I was watching videos of Wii street u and wondering when it would come to North America. I'm sure virtually exploring the world will keep me occupied until next Thursday, no problem, thanks Nintendo!

Edit: I don't own a 3DS and I don't buy WiiWare/virtual console. I won't buy VC until the actual VC is released in it's entirety this summer.

I don't see the problem with having to boot up the eShop to download extra content. It's not like everyone that has the F2P games don't already know how to do it considering they had to go there to get the game in the first place. I know it's not as simple as on iOS and Android but honestly if you can't take 2 minutes to go to the eShop and purchase the content you are either lazy or you don't want it that bad. I mean, it's not like the Wii U can't multitask you don't even have to close the game to check the eShop.

Edit: I remember Zen pinball 2 on Vita, you didn't have to enter the PS Store to download tables but it seems like its barely any more tedious now than it was then.

tddct89 commented on Castlevania Producer Would Love To Work With N...:

I think they should just leave Zelda alone. Skyward sword was fun but it was such a big change from the original Zelda format that I honestly don't care to go back and play it again. Zelda isn't broken and doesn't need new devs to add their own personal twist on it. Give us a huge open world Zelda where (like they want to do now) we can complete dungeons in what ever order we like, but make it so it's still linear in a way that at least a few temples won't be accessible until certain points in the game. Expand the size of hyrule, add fun side quests, and almost as Importantly show us that just because Wii u won't be as powerful as the next consoles, Nintendo can still make one of the most beautiful HD games this (and the next generation) can produce. Then I'll be happy.

I'll consider getting it to try it out, but the reviews I saw were mostly negative. Actually, pretty much 99% negative. I think they should have just dropped the price to $15 for everything because I don't think this freemium model is going to bring in as much revenue as they expect. But then again, I guess it's worked in the past for way worse iOS/Android games.

tddct89 commented on Rayman Legends Boss and Dev Team Protest Wii U...:

@C7_ Well that's the thing see. I'm really confused whether I should buy this game for a lot of reasons. 1 is that even though I loved ray man origins I already gave ubisoft my money for AC3 and ZombiU, both of which I didn't like. If I buy the game used at least Ubisoft already got their share of the money from whoever bought it new which is bound to happen. I also want to buy it to support the market for physical copies of games and sale of Wii U games, both of which I dont want to see go any time soon. I dont ever buy used games unless I'm really strapped for cash and its a game I've really wanted for a very long time. Truth is I'll still probably buy this game brand new for Wii U no matter when I'm able to purchase it just because I know I will enjoy it so much. I'll do my part by not buying Ubisoft games in the future, it might not be much but every little bit counts. Honestly this is the first time I've felt the same way about ubisoft as I do about EA after their questionably fair treatment of loyal android customers.

tddct89 commented on Rayman Legends Boss and Dev Team Protest Wii U...:

@seronja What part of that exactly was "fact"? I don't like GTA, I won't buy GTA 5 or even play it, and there are lots of others out there that think the exact same way as me. And also, there are lots of people out there that will buy both no matter when they are released. You just compared 2 games that are nothing alike at all. This is a platformer, not just cause or saints row. GTA5 will have no effect on the sales of this game, other than a few people that want both, can only afford one, and decide to go with GTA5. You just stated your opinion then followed it with "true fact"

Edit: by that time there may be better games, but you will be hard pressed to find a better side-scrolling 2D plat former, which millions of gamers still love.

This is nice to see. At least they care. Ubi just wants to save money by not having to market the game more than once I'm assuming. I actually had my mind 100% made up to never purchase this game unless I found it second hand so that Ubisoft Never made money from me (might sound a bit extreme but this game was literally the reason I was an early adopter, there will be better games out by September.) If the game actually gets released soon I might reconsider, but I'll still be on edge about giving Ubisoft any money in the future after this stunt.

@ThomasBW84 First off thanks for the reply. And as I said it's not just NintendoLife, sorry if it seemed like I meant you guys ignored NA gamers or something. But now that I know I'll be sure to check out this site a few times Thursday mornings before the updates actually go live. I created an account just to make that comment but NintendoLife seems more and more like a friendly community to me every day. So I'll be contributing to conversations in comment sections much more frequently in the coming days, months, etc... To be honest the only reason I came here is because after receiving constant backlash on IGN no matter how positive my comments were people there recommended this site. You guys already have a good name but I'll be sure to spread the word to fellow Nintendo gamers. :)

Edit: I'm not bashing IGN, they can be a great site with great news, but the (what seems like) lack of interest or care for the Wii U in the passed month or so I need somewhere to get my news. (True story) I didn't even see IGN report that the 3DS resident evil was coming to Wii U, which is def excellent news for anyone with a Wii U, and especially those that dont have a 3DS to play the original.

Why is this always for Europe? I don't mean just on NintendoLife, but everywhere. I can only ever find the update for Europe. I feel for you guys though, Europe seems to be having a drought even worse than North America's. But even though we have The Cave and some other fun Indie games they can only hold my attention for so long. The Cave has little replay value after you've been through everyone's unique story segment, I've played Trine 2 enough since launch that the graphics are even starting to get boring, and NSMBU can only be 5 starred so many times before it gets old. I'm not even a big pinball fan but I would even be happy with Zen pinball and the plants versus zombies table. If we get the same update (unlikely) and the best thing my Wii U has to offer is a glorified demo of tank tank tank I guess I'll be going another week minimum with nothing to play. Here is my money Nintendo, why don't you wanna take it? Also tired of having to wait until a random time on Thursdays to check the eShop and see what's been added. Can't find a specific time for the update anywhere, if there is a set time I mean.

Nintendo needs an official update news outlet like Sony's PS blog.
