spidey1010 commented on Soapbox: Nintendo Soundtracks - Where Are They?:

Couldn't agree more. I'm always shocked at how difficult/impossible it is to track down original-recording-quality music.
I had to yank the Donkey Kong Country Returns soundtrack off of some shady Internet board. And the guy there only had it because he manually ripped the audio files from his copy of the game.
Ridiculous.

spidey1010 commented on Intriguing Data Helps Explain Nintendo's Smart...:

I really don't understand this cry for Nintendo to put their games on smart devices.
A) Putting new IPs and game concepts on smart devices would cannibalize Nintendo's hardware sales, just like Iwata says. This isn't an option.
B) Putting classic Nintendo games on smart devices makes sense to me, I guess. Again, putting too much on smart devices could cannibalize Nintendo's hardware, so the amount of content would be crucial.

To me, it seems that the only sensible move in the way of smart devices is to put a few classic, already popular titles on them. And if that's the strategy they take, it's not about to turn around Nintendo's fortunes overnight, or be a truly significant portion of their overall revenue for that matter. The fact that people would be upset that Nintendo's refusing to put their content on smart devices shows me that their are some truly stupid investors.

Whatever, Wall Street.

I love the idea of Nintendo coming out with a totally new product. Even if it's not something I'll buy, trying new things is Nintendo's forte. It's the only way they'll strike gold again like they did with the Wii.

I really hate the ignorant perception that shareholders are all "old farts who don't actually know anything about games."

I'm a shareholder specifically because I love how Nintendo makes games and I expect that to keep making them money.

Well, this makes me happy.

I have 400 shares of Nintendo because I believe in their method of business: humility and constantly trying to innovate (not to mention their vast hoards of cash).

It's smart to buy Nintendo shares right now, when it's low. Plus, it makes it seem like Nintendo has faith in itself, if they're willing to give up capital and post more losses. Obviously someone at the company thinks it's a sound investment. Basically, my faith in the company is confirmed by the company itself making the same decisions I made.

@XCWarrior
Lol, I got it and just got flooded with nostalgia.
Nice reference.

@Kmno
I think it's important to remember that any boost in sales is a good thing. That means there are more Wii Us in households, and in my opinion, that means they are more likely to convince others to get them due to increased perception of popularity. Even if the sales/week slows back down, I think it will likely remain above the slower rates of 2013.

The lack of info is a little concerning to me, though. I regularly read Nintendolife and IGN, and I barely have a clue how necessary the Balance Board is for this game.
I'm definitely intrigued by the download/fit meter option, but I want to know - if I pay the $20 for the fit meter, will I have to also hunt down a Balance Board at some point?

The thing about Pokemon games is that in order to properly train your Pokes, you NEED to have knowledge before you even start the game. That's what's been driving me to look up spoilers, even though I want to preserve the majority of the game for my actual run through.
That's always bothered me about Pokemon games, though - Game Freak itself is very tight-lipped and rarely gives you info that you NEED if you want to train your Pokemon in the best way possible. If the Internet didn't exist, I would have no idea how EVs, IVs, or natures work.

spidey1010 commented on Talking Point: Wii U Bundles Need to Suit Us All:

Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I highly doubt Nintendo will do multiple, price-differing bundles.
It's not their style at all. They want the buying experience to be simple.
My prediction?
They'll have one product.
To entice the casual gamers, they'll say, "Here's everything you need to enjoy our latest offering."
The launch Wii U product will include Wii U console, Wii U gamepad, and Nintendoland, with some cheap video cables- probably component, maybe composite if they're feeling really cheap.
Then they'll simply let the harder-core gamers decide what extras they want: those gamers will have to buy separate HDMI cables, more remotes, etc.

Does it favor the casual gamer? Yes.
But it also favors those who already own a Wii, seeing as how it offers no extras that people already own. It's the barebones kit, but it panders to the widest audience: casuals and previous customers.

spidey1010 commented on Satoru Iwata Acknowledges Possibility of Free-...:

Good to know Nintendo's trying to be more aggressive and cutting edge.

While I can't see any of their core franchises going free-to-play, I'm really glad they're opening up that possibility for developers.

As for disc V. digital, there's something appealing to me about having a physical disc. Although that may just be lingering sentiment from when games were actually written to the cartridge. I hate the modern standard of saves being kept only on the system's hard drive.

spidey1010 commented on Guide: Nintendo 3DS System Update v. 4.0.0-7:

Small yet awesome change I noticed:

When you hold your stylus on an icon, it takes less time to become mobile.
Before, it took maybe half a second, now it's probably less than .1 second.
Reorganizing went a lot faster than I expected because of this.

Ugh... the graphics look awesome, but for some reason it's making me nervous.

It's reminding me of Radiant Dawn, which I didn't like.

I really hope they develop the characters well. I haven't seen much of that in Shadow Dragon or Radiant Dawn. Hell, something seemed off in Sacred Stones. The original GBA one was my favorite.

spidey1010 commented on Fire Emblem Awakening Wireless Features Revealed:

It's exciting just to hear any news on this.

I don't really know what to suggest to make it better, but the online multiplayer for Shadow Dragon just wasn't fun.
Hopefully local co-op goes a long way towards remedying that.
If they do have something online, they should include co-op, or at least change it from Shadow Dragon.
