skjia commented on E3 Nintendo Direct Date and Time Confirmed:

@Rafie Nintendo's press conference always used to take place on Tuesday so this is really just replacing that. And yes it will be great to see the games we've all been waiting for. Here's hoping Smash Bros and Mario will be available to play at Best Buy too!

@Fingeldor wrote: "Is ultra-violence the only thing capturing the minds of the Western audience anymore?"
I know, right? Guess that's what the masses want but to me that doesn't make it mature. That's honestly one reason I enjoy Nintendo so much. They make it work without the need for excessive violence. And that makes it only for children I guess. lol

skjia commented on Review: Resident Evil Revelations (Wii U):

@Sun Well Ocarina of Time 3D was not a lazy port and it was a good alternative to the original. And there are still those that prefer the original.
This review is on the side that RE: Revelations 3DS is better than the Wii U version and cheaper so it would score slightly lower.

skjia commented on Review: Resident Evil Revelations (Wii U):

Just looking at the videos this game looked and moved like a 3DS game. Which to me is not a good thing. I'm actually surprised the score is that high.

@TysonOfTime Agreed. The only review this should be compared to is the original so we can see which is recommended. In this case the original, which can probably be found for $20 now.

In general it's pointless to say "Game A got this score why didn't Game B get this score?" as you really shouldn't and can't compare games. Especially Retro vs New (or in this case Remake).

skjia commented on New Wii U System Update Goes Live:

I hope this fixes Netflix. Since the update, almost every time I try to boot it it just goes to a black screen and I have to physically unplug the system to restart.
Otherwise it's been pretty good.

skjia commented on Game & Wario Was Originally Intended As A Pre-...:

I feel like people are taking it as the whole game was going to be included but they decided to wait and make people pay for it. He just said it started as an small game but they had so many ideas that they made it a full game. I'm not sure if I'd play it a lot but I do like the way it uses the GamePad for some very unique experiences so I'll probably get it.

@edcomics It doesn't make sense but I never minded Wario. But just the concept of Waluigi just infuriates me too. lol.

One of my favorite things of this game has always been the isolation. Not one thing is told to you. You're all on your own exploring a dangerous place. I would really like it if games started revisiting that sense exploration and figuring out everything for yourself.
Great review. Am definitely enjoying playing through this again.

skjia commented on Ubisoft Confident Its Titles Will Attract Game...:

I imagine PC will still be the definitive version of those games but I want to support Ubisoft's support of Nintendo so I will get the Wii U versions. Other than Assassin's Creed (I love the games but sadly 4 just looks like more of the same) all of those games look great.
And I do think those games could help move Wii Us because, as others have noted, not everyone can buy every console they want. And if they can have a console with Mario and Zelda AND some popular third party games they might be more prone to get a Wii U.

"It's working! It's working!"
Man I love this game. Still have the cart too. I used to love to use the debug cheat and put the max speed at 2000 lol. I miss when games had cool cheats. I really miss the 64 era of gaming.

skjia commented on Developer Interview: Two Tribes on Toki Tori 2...:

This game is by far my favorite on the Wii U eShop at the moment. And I really didn't expect to like it that much. I was among those posting pictures and helping others out in the first couple weeks and I was wary of the update making things simpler. It was a lot of fun and really showed how great Miiverse can be.
I would like to see more devs make games difficult like this so people who want help can go to Miiverse and those that don't can be challenged.
Thanks Two Tribes!

@MrWalkieTalkie Yeah that about sums it up. lol. That's really the only thing that bugs me here. It does seem like EA is systematically trying to undermine Nintendo but what do I know?
These are all companies that provide jobs and I really don't think some CEO making underhanded remarks or not liking the way Nintendo doesn't do everything we want should make us want thousands of people becoming unemployed.

skjia commented on Warren Spector: "I've Personally Saved Hyrule ...:

@aaronsullivan I agree that Miyamoto's philosophy on gaming is my favorite as the game being fun is what's most important. I have no problem with long cutscenes if they're interesting or fun to watch.
What bugs me with the new Zeldas is that your companion tells you everything you're supposed to do and often reiterates what just happened in a cutscene as if you weren't there lol.
Ocarina to me has a great balance of story vs. gameplay.
Oh, and I can't even count how many times I've saved Hyrule. :D

skjia commented on Watch_Dogs Team Aiming For "Nuance" in its Sto...:

That's a nice thing they're trying to do with the story. I can't stand when games have a "Good" ending where everything is perfect and beautiful and an "Evil" ending where the character just becomes a jerk that destroys everyone and laughs maniacally. Hope they can pull it off. Definitely on my Watch_List. :P

It still irks me that a fighting game has no unlockable characters and you have to pay for more characters. Does anyone know if it actually adds anything to the game or is it just a new fighter and a couple unlockables?

This leaves me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, EA has some great developers under its belt. Here's hoping for a Battlefront developed by DICE. On the other, EA keeps shafting Nintendo so the thought of these coming to Wii U is iffy.

Wow seriously. That tie is amazing. Even the bag is pretty cool. You know, you Europeans always complain about delays and stuff but your pre-order rewards are almost always way better than America's. lol

"At the time of writing, it looks unlikely that Capcom will be reeling out a new Mega Man game to celebrate the series' 25th Anniversary..."
Sorry if I'm being ignorant but how is that the case? It's barely May. There's plenty of time for a game to come out. Also I don't understand why people get so upset demanding a Mega Man game for the 25th Anniversary. If they give us an awesome game: cool, if they give us collectibles and stuff: cool.
Nintendo did nothing for Metroid 25th and nobody made a big fuss over it.

skjia commented on Review: Super Mario World (Wii U eShop / Super...:

@Moshugan Honestly I think Super Mario 64 looks great. It's my favorite Mario so it's just my opinion but I really wouldn't want it to look different. I think many 64 games stand the test of time unlike PsOne games that are just all pixels lol.

@AcesHigh <raises hand> I did that too haha. I also kept trying to flutter with Yoshi and I would hit ZR to try to spin in the air to make my jumps farther, which would bring up the VC Menu so I finally assigned the spin jump to ZR as well lol

I think NSMB (while still very fun) didn't capture the formula because SMW didn't have a set formula. This play through I really noticed how they really didn't follow any rules in it and there were plenty of levels that probably would be called too "experimental" for NSMB.

It kinda seems like publishers are going to call the Wii U whatever they need it to be in order to not bring games to it, even if it means saying it's next gen. Lol. Especially since they announced PS4.

Given how much of an issue people made about the 3ds not having a second analogue pad, I find it hard to believe that people would switch to phones and tablets unless they have a full controller built into them.

Honestly, whatever it is, I'm excited for it. They seem to have a great way of combining nostalgia with new ideas so the games feel familiar and fresh at the same time. I just hope it releases soon. That would be a nice surprise boost for the Wii U :D

I notice how a lot of people and even "journalists" on other sites tend to take Nintendo's statements and blow them out of proportion (Like saying Nintendo won't be at E3). All he's saying here is that cloud technology is not fast or reliable enough to stream games. Watch this come to other sites as Nintendo hates the cloud lol

@ThomasBW84
I actually find the touch screen areas mix it up a bit and add almost a puzzle element to the game when trying to get the AI to walk in the right direction to get all the collectibles.
But I agree that in challenge mode you're never gonna rank high with an AI walking slowly around and missing jumps. lol

skjia commented on Talking Point: The Importance of the Virtual C...:

I don't really think the cost is too high. It's true that certain games like Ice Climbers and Donkey Kong Jr. feel high but if they priced those down based on appeal they would end up pricing others with massive appeal higher. Games like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World, Link to the Past and soon Earthbound for $7.99 is insanely cheap. Those games are impossible to find under $20.00 and that'd be a great price.

Also we're talking about games that cost less than lunch. :P

@TheRealThanos
I wasn't thrashing any consoles I was just saying for me personally it's disappointing when there are still a lot of classic Nintendo games that have yet to be released on the VC. As I said I realize other people want the other consoles and obviously they wouldn't release those games if people didn't buy em.

I don't understand what the big deal is? It's not like they're not gonna be at e3 with smash bros and a new Mario. They're just not doing a big conference which is pretty smart considering nothing is ever a surprise anymore. Last year the only surprise from any of the conferences was watch dogs. I think it's a smart move. With the Internet people want news much more often and Nintendo's doing that.

skjia commented on Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed:

They said from the get go it was only gonna start with nes and snes, with gba and n64 coming later. Yeah it'd be nice to get more but I don't think people get that they're actually working on these games to make them run as closely to the original as possible, unlike any other emulator where you have to optimize it yourself.
Plus if they were putting all their resources into the vc then new Wii U games would take even longer to come out.
If this is the worse thing in your life, then you've got a pretty good life lol.
