Sparkster (or 'Rocket Knight' for Sega Genesis fans) is definitely an underrated series. The eShop should heavily consider getting those games on there. The boss battles were very difficult, but can be easier with the VC restore points.
Hope you got to enjoy the 'Rocket Knight' remake that came out as a downloadable game for Steam, Xbox 360 or PS3 in 2010.

Thank you. I generally don't like auto-levels either. There are some impressive ones out there. But after making this level, I realized how difficult it is to make a musical one. I'm glad you liked it.

shredmeister commented on Editorial: A Wii U Price Cut is Still Worthwhi...:

I have owned every Nintendo console and handheld, even some Game & Watches. Loved everyone of them. Sadly, it has become more of a niche these days. But, I can't imagine Nintendo ever dying. They've had longevity for more than 100 years and hit a lot of bumps on the road. I don't want to think about this 'doom & gloom' when I'm playing Super Mario Maker and Splatoon, or any of the 100's of games I have in my (mostly Nintendo) game library. If there's 'only' a million or 2 of us playing those games, that's still a lot of people to cater to. All hope isn't lost.

I did like the first auto-level I played. Like others have said, there are way too many. Personally, I'm thinking about making one so that it'll get popular, then people can check out my other designs. I've spent already a month only making two levels and I did the best I could to make them 'likable' and simple enough to not frustrate anyone. But if I have to make an auto-level to achieve a higher status, then that's what I'm going to do.

PlatinumGames just finished up TRANSFORMERS: Devastation. It comes out on Xbox360/XboxOne/PS3/PS4 and PC on October 6th. Not only am I excited that PlatinumGames made a TF game, but we are finally getting a game based on the original 'Generation 1' Transformers.

Too bad Nintendo didn't get this one. Looks like I'll be getting the PC version.

shredmeister commented on First Impressions: Getting Down with Shantae: ...:

Thanks for the reply. Being a musician in a band that is signed to an indie label, I thought that, maybe, the same rule applies to video game characters. Shantae first appeared on a big-time label...Capcom. WayForward has been publishing Shantae games on their own since then, so technically she can be considered an 'indie' label character. But that's kind of like when Led Zeppelin published their own records on their own label (Swan Song Records). I'm sorry to say, but they were never an 'indie' band. That's just my logic on the whole thing.

Is there anyone here that remembers "VS. Excitebike" as an arcade game?

Yeah, and there was "VS. Ice Climber" and "VS. Mach Rider" and "VS. Super Mario Bros." and even "VS. Castlevania". These were in the United States. They all were 'slightly different' from the NES versions.

Watched it, didn't hate it...
Maybe it's because I grew up playing video games in the 80's. Like most of Adam Sandler's movies, it's a nostalgic homage to the 80's. There are TV and musical personalities from the 80's that were involved in the film as well.

Personally, I think if you are not old enough, you won't get most of the 80's references. How many people actually remember the 'Where's the Beef Lady'?

There's a target audience for the movie 'Pixels', but it's not for today's strapping young video gamers, they just won't 'get it'.

3-D technology...Touchscreens...Dual Screens...Motion Controllers...Cameras and Microphones....Steering Wheels...Pads and Boards for your feet...Zappers and Robots with Gyroscopes...'s all been done in the name of 'innovation'.

There isn't been much being told about the 'Quality of Life' initiative, lately. Do you think the NX console is going to be a branch of this obscure 'thing' they were talking about last year?

Nintendo...what are you up to?

shredmeister commented on Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digi...:

Not dissapointed. There's a new Starfox, a new Paper/Mario & Luigi, a cool new Zelda multiplayer (Four Swords was awesome, are you kidding? I can't wait to play this with a friend), and we finally have solid evidence of the elusive ShinMegami/Emblem game being in the works. All great stuff.

And no need to worry, Zelda(WiiU) is still coming, they don't have to keep repeating themselves. seems that Nintendo likes to innovate, and I get that (that's even going back to NES and R.O.B. days). So...the Other:M was a stinker...and they've been shying away from making another Metroid game ever since. Maybe innovation isn't the answer. Maybe they should stick with the 'Tried and True' formulas with this one. Same thing goes for F-Zero. C'mon, Nintendo, don't be shy! You know those games were awesome back in the day, you can do it!...again.

shredmeister commented on Humble Nindie Bundle Sells Over 37,000 Units i...:

I am amazed at how many games I have purchased through humblebundle in the past year. I currently have over 175 games on Steam. Having an eshop humblebundle is a bit of a surprise. I have most of the games on this list. Guacamelee is my favorite, and you only have to spend one measly dollar to get it (and 2 other games). I highly recommend spending 10 to get SteamWorld Dig and all the other games. I might do that and give away the ones I already have.

Yes, I am color-blind. This is great news. It really bugged me that I couldn't play Bust-a-Move to save my life. I have a mild case of red-green color blindness. But I can even mistake orange and yellow, or blue and purple, or pink and grey. Thanks for the consideration, Nintendo!

shredmeister commented on Nintendo Submits Trademark for NES Controller:

Actually, there are some aftermarket replicas of the old NES controller in the market. I have one, and the only thing different about it is that it doesn't say 'Nintendo' in it. They also make them for USB so that you can play them with emulators gasp.

shredmeister commented on Reminder: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D Out Now for ...:

Bought it before GameStop closed last night and noticed that there were at least 50 more copies on the shelf. This game is going to be a shelf warmer, I think. I don't even think that this particular GameStop sold 50 N3DS's in the past. Maybe Nintendo's strategy was to get people to buy the N3DS with it(?).

shredmeister commented on Soapbox: Portable Gaming Forges a Special Rela...:

My earliest experiences in handheld gaming goes back to the old LED/LCD games (i.e. Game & Watch and Mattel/Coleco LED games) before there were Game Boys. But I didn't go back to handhelds until the DS Lite came out. I certainly fell in love with the DS, because it brought back old-school gaming that I missed out on when there was a sea of FPS and racing games in my then-current library. It made me fall in love with Nintendo again. When the 3DS came out with its Virtual Console Game Boy titles, I realized what I had missed out on. So, for the last 4 years, my favorite thing to do on the weekends is to go to retrogaming stores and flea markets and buy these 20+ year old little cartridges for cheap. My current GB/GBC/GBA collection reached 400 last weekend. Handhelds rule!

shredmeister commented on WayForward Bringing GBC Classic Xtreme Sports ...:

I know there are more than a few fans of WayForward on this website, like myself. But I find it odd that there is hardly any mention of their latest 3DS release anywhere on this website. Anyone pick up "Scooby Doo & Looney Tunes Cartoon Universe Adventure"? It came out last week.

shredmeister commented on Review: Pac-Land (Wii U eShop / NES):

I agree with most of the review, and a fair score. But, I didn't think that the music was forgettable. Being pretty old myself, I remember perfectly well that it was the same music that they used for Pac-man's Saturday morning cartoon theme song. I believe the game is entirely based on that cartoon.

B=Left, A=Right, and any-direction-on-the-D-pad is jump! This is the same control scheme on the Turbo Graphx version.
It sounds crazy, but they were trying to simulate the arcade version that only had buttons for left and right (and jump)
I'll have to try the Player 2 thing, though. Didn't know that.

shredmeister commented on Possibility of SNES Remix and Other Remix Titl...:

NES Remix was a lot of fun, but seeing what they have on 1 and 2 so far, I don't see much going on for a 3. UNLESS they start using 3rd-party titles (I highly doubt that would ever happen, but, oh, that would be so much fun). Sure I would like a SNES or GB Remix.

Anyways, Have any of you seen Abobo's Big Adventure? That is truly the best NES 'Remix' that I've ever played. Look it up...if not, you're missing out.

shredmeister commented on Review: Advance Wars (Wii U eShop):

I do like Advance Wars and own it for GBA. My first impression was that it is a lot like Fire Emblem, except with guns, tanks, air units and medical devices, instead of swords, cavalry, pegasi, and healers. It's a different experience. But the turn based strategy and map mechanics work very much the same way. If you do like Fire Emblem, I don't see how you wouldn't like Advance Wars.
