sadpanda212 commented on EU WiiWare Update: Strong Bad Episode 1 and My...:

And there we have it, the EU gets a Zero game week.

We do get an interactive screensaver and an interactive flash vid for us to waste our points on, but no games of which to speak of.

I'll admit to having chuckled once or twice whilst DEMON has been playing StrongBad but I played the free PC Demo and it's so not my idea of a fun game.

Absolute waste of time for me this week. Maybe we'll get gyrostar eventually.

Well this looks about as interesting as watching paint dry. Just as with My Pokemon Ranch this is not even a game, it's an interactive screensaver at best. An absolute waste of points.

Would prefer MLE / Pong Toss / Vip / Critter Round up to this, they may be crap but they are at least games.

@ Bass

I can generally tell if I'm going to like a game inside 20 minutes.

I hate the controls, I hate the slowdown and I dont care much for the character balance either. It is a shame as I really am a fan of fighters, I'm loving Soul Calibur IV on my PS3 at the moment but this just isn't very good IMO.

I judge all 2D fighters by SFII (Which is my personal favorite), This doesn't come close to measuring up.

Well I've just wasted 900 points on SS2. It's a shame as I had high hopes for this one seems as I like fighters and this game was getting bigged up. Having played it I think its awful.

The other 2 don't float my boat either so I wont bother with them, Never mind, I know there's a lot of people out there that wanted SS2 so enjoy it people.

Well for once I actually agree that NA gamers are right to feel disappointed this week.

Whilst the 2 VC games are ok, compared to the 3 announced games they are a kick in the knickers. You can console yourselves with WWG which is a fantastic little light gun game, but that wont float everyones boat.

However it's not like Ninty haven't done this before, what with Parodier and Break In.

If I remember correctly the Developer of Pirates said that they had no control over when the game was to be released and had no idea when Ninty would allow the game to come out.

I predict these 2 games and maybe a random C64 game will make up the EU VC release on Thursday/Friday to last us 2 whole weeks.

I think you've got the game summed up spot on there mate. From What I've played of the game it's a fun pick up and play game that is well worth the price (Something that cannot be said of a lot of Wii Ware titles.)

Great Review and I'm happy with my purchase

Well We've downloaded both games and both are good fun and Value for money IMHO.

DYC looks as though it will be fun in multiplayer and I already know WWG is great fun in multiplayer mode.

It strikes me as a high score type game in the single player which is where the replayability will come into it.

@ Bahamut

Christ, I am sick of moaning whining Yanks at the moment. Last week you also got 2 VC games so you got 3 games to our 2, and one of those was a Wii Ware launch game that you guys have had for months. Yeah, you are really hard done by. Your Wii points are cheaper than ours too.

@ Nobarai

Errrr.... Last week when you got the amazing Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer. You may as well have posted "Wah Wah Wah, I'm a spoilt brat who will scream the mall down until my mommy gives me my own way"

I think you guys need a bit of a reality check here. There are tons of really good games out there on the VC, and if there are none that you want then you aren't forced to spend your points, they wont expire overnight, you just need to be patient. You lot would kill yourselves if you lived in the EU, We had to wait 4 months for Brawl, around the same for MP:3 and pretty much any game that comes out for the Wii. And before someone says how long they've been waiting for a particular VC game, I'm talking about games already out and being played in another region, and yes I know we have Mega Man.

As for the Hardcore debate, I think you have 4 categories to look at. There is a big difference between a person who plays a game with a degree of difficulty for a few hours and someone who plays World of Warcraft 20 hours a day. Then there is the person who will play any crap that's churned out by their chosen favourite publisher and finally the person who bought a Wii as it looked cool, plays it once every 3 months or so and buys the crap like Wii Sports Party and Beach Sports because they look a bit like Wii Sports.

As for the games this week, well Chase HQ is a classic, I don't care what score it gets, Art of Fighting 2 may not be SFII but hell it got more than 2 stars from VC-R for a Neo Geo Game so it's a sure fire winner (To be fair I have this game on the VC and it's a pretty good fighter, better than Fatal Fury but no Street Fighter)

I've no wish for the Wii Ware game but I'm sure there's a market for it out there.

sadpanda212 commented on RPG Action Comes to the US Next Month in Ys Bo...:

I would laugh my tits off is SMRPG turned out to be crap, you guys have hyped this up so much yet all I can see is a basic rpg that is Paper Mario's little brother. Ninty didn't take a gun out and force you to spend those points did they? They haven't screwed anyone, well other than charging overly inflated prices for Wii ware but thats another argument for another day.

Some great games announced for the US here, I'm hoping for Chase HQ out over here soon too.

@ supermario2

I have to disagree, we played this game on multiplayer last night for a good hour or so and only turned it off because of the storm overhead knocking out the power across the street.

Compared to Lost Winds (Short yet so boring I stopped playing after half an hour), Dr Mario (A NES game for twice the price) and My Pokemon Ranch (Woot, 1000 points for a storage box) this is one of the few Wii Ware games to be worth the points IMO. The others being Toki Tori(a steal at 900 points and easilly the best WW game) and Final Fantasy.

Pretty good release, Not going to bother with Spogs but Pirates is right up there with Toki Tori in my book. Excellent game and well worth the 1000 points, Multiplayer is awesome, comparible to bomberman as it's similar style.

sadpanda212 commented on EU VC Releases - 11th July - Neo Geo Duo:

@ Rexy

Totally agree, When I first heard about the VC I expected it to be purely old Nintendo games and I was a bit sceptical about it. It's gone on to totally surpass my expectations and turned into the only reason I still have a Wii. Personally I think there is a huge ammount of choice on the VC. Between us, DEMON and I have more than 170 VC titles, of which we regret less than 10% of the purchases. A large quantity of our games are games we have not played in the past. There are tons of games on various platforms that I would love to see come out, some of which I've bought on cart having purchased a Snes and N64 in the last 12 months. However I still see the recent releases as pretty good.

I guess there is no pleasing some people.

sadpanda212 commented on EU VC Releases - 11th July - Neo Geo Duo:

Hell I get the feeling that they could release 50 games in NA on monday and if SMRPG wasnt one of them then they's still flood on here crying that Nintendo hates them and the release was crap.

A lot of this makes me laugh, a comment above said that people play fighters for half an hour then stop whilst an RPG gives hours of joy, surely that means we don't need as many RPG's because you're getting so many hours of joy, the fighter fans need more games.

I also love all the talk of the Neo Geo games being crap, The Neo Geo and it's games were so damned expensive I cannot imagine you have played all of these games and you are judging them crap without trying them.

Lets me put it as clear as possible, If you don't like the games being released then write to Nintendo, or e-mail them, or phone them, just don't clog up this board with your whining little posts because all you do is get on peoples nerves and acomplish nothing, other than establish a reputation for NA gamers as a bunch of spoilt brats that wouldn't know a good game if it came up and bit them on the butt.

@ diablos

Nope, sorry you're wrong there, the PSN has been shocking recently and we are still waiting for games like Twisted Metal and Castlevania SOTN that have been on the US PSN for ages. As for the XBL:A, I agree it's probably the best service, just a shame the console doesn't work long enough for you to play on it (I'm on my 5th X360)

On the VC / Wii Ware we get games EVERY WEEK, you may not like them all but we still get games every week. When have we ever had a ZERO game week for VC / Wii Ware?

Why have you Farted???

Surely you don't mean the VC release, having downloaded them both and had a bit play around on them, I'm very happy with the games we have. Both 2 player and Ninja Commando is Co-op, keeps DEMON happy too.

sadpanda212 commented on Top 10 Neo Geo Games We Want To Come To The Vi...:

Great Article Corbie, I would love most of those on the VC, The exception for me being Metal Slug 3, I don't know why but this is the only metal slug game I've not really got into.

There was a Neo Geo game I used to play in the arcades called Mutant Fighter, I used to spend a fortune on that when I was younger, I'd love to see that on the VC.

As far as I'm concerned, the more Neo Geo games the better, I could never afford one but I always wanted one. 900 points for a Neo Geo game is a steal.

@ Retrogarden

Super Sidekicks was amazing, I loved that game

It looks like their releases are totally random though, there are a load of games that were announced over a year ago, Duck hunt, Pilot Wings, they aren't out yet games like cybernoid came out a week after it was announced.

No VC at all as expected this week. but I haven't finished last weeks games so I guess I'm ok.

sadpanda212 commented on US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2:

@ Firebrand.

I dunno why but I can't get away with game compilations. I had a couple of Sega collections on the Playstation and hated loads of the games, Golden Axe II, Kid Chameleon and Vectorman were all on them. Yet I have them all on the VC and they are Emulated better.

I've got Metal Slug on the Wii collection and on the VC, The VC version is smoother and has better controls. I guess it's just a preference thing.

@ Brookes

I don't see myself as a snob, I'm saying that people are slagging these games off as crap when they haven't even played them, for a lot on here if they haven't heard of the game it's automatically poor. I hadn't heard of Final Soldier on the TG and it's one of my favourite games.

sadpanda212 commented on US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2:

This is the part I love, "I hope we have better games to download next week"

Considering the 2 this week are both in their own right pretty damned good I would expect it would take the entire nintendo back catalog to constitute a good week.

What winds people up is the statement "There are no good games to download" it's a pretty generalising comment and some people may consider it insulting as they like those games and what you are saying is that they have no taste or that their preferences don't count.

I think there'd be a lot less hostility if you said, "Shame, I don't want those"

The games themselves may not be to your taste but they sure as hell aint crap.

I've just got an image of a load of NA gamers writing to their congressman to inform him that Nintendo have AAA titles that are being held hostage by terrorists with WMD's and demanding the army go in and liberate them, bringing democracy to the VC and getting those games out there...

If I wanted to be condesending I might point out that moaning and whinging on a VC website about games is really going to make nintendo sit up and take note.

Try sending all this to nintendo instead of clogging up the site.

sadpanda212 commented on US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2:

This is a disgrace, I was promised BBC Micro titles, I haven't bought a game since Chessmaster 79. Speaking of which where are the chess games???

The Way I see it, you cannot please everybody, however there have been some cracking games released recently that are getting totally overlooked and slagged off because they aren't made by Nintendo. Hell the VC gives people the chance to play a lot of games they may have missed, I love the Neo Geo games, you could only ever play them in the arcades as a home console would set you back a small fortune and the games were over £100 each, to be able to get these games for less than £7 each to me is a bargin.

It seams to me that while EU gamers continue to buy more varied games then Nintendo will continue to release a greater quantity of games in that region. We know that these games have to be translated correctly and the correct version be ported over. Why would nintendo bother to do all this work twice if NA gamers won't buy it anyway.

For the same reason Wii Ware must be selling better in NA since they are releasing more of this in the region, either that or they don't want to hurt the strong VC sales in the EU and Austrailia.
