Raptor78 commented on EA CFO Explains Why the Company Doesn't Make W...:

The only thing I noticed about EA stopping support of the wiiU was how little I cared about EA games. I used to enjoy some of the games, sure but when they stopped supporting wiiu, it was just meh to me. Ubisoft on the other hand I really seemed to notice. I suspect that this lack of support may come back to bite them in the rear if the NX is a success whereas Ubisoft and Activision will still have a Nintendo fan base due to not pulling out completely.

Raptor78 commented on Humour: The Pain Of Being A Wii U Owner This C...:

Never regretted buying the wiiu. I've really enjoyed my experience with it although I've had frustrations finding shops with a decent selection of games but I've really made most of the eShop. Probably my second favourite console after the Dreamcast. I really hope whatever the NX ends up being, I hope it is fully backward compatible with wiiu for those people who didn't play it this generation.

Raptor78 commented on Minecraft Wii U Edition Has Been Rated By PEGI:

I would rather have the updated version of Cubelife. I've played Minecraft on so many other devices a wiiU version is just "blah" to me now. The Telltale game Minecraft story I'm still interested in, but not an Infiniminer clone.

Raptor78 commented on Editorial: It's Far Too Soon to Go Download-On...:

I have a good mix of both physical and downloadable titles. Storage space does become an issue with the wiiu but while flash drives get cheaper and cheaper I am able to keep up with my downloads. My 3DS on the other hand... I got a large SD card to start with ( I had a decent DSiware collection to transfer) and even though I have bought a lot of physical copies of games, I tend to pick up download copies on the eshop sales and transfer my saves over and pass my physical copies on to my kids. The thing is storage is getting cheaper, faster and more reliable so sometimes its just more convenient to have it downloaded and in one place. I don't think its time to get rid of physical copies any time soon, but simultaneous retail and digital releases should be the way to go but with digital not costing any more and if possible less than its physical copy.

Raptor78 commented on SEGA’s ChuChu Rocket! Arrives On The Japanes...:

Hopefully Sega and Nintendo will allow for the Gamecube version of Phantasy Star Online to be released as an eshop title with access to a new server and with updated internet connections. It was my alltime favourite Dreamcast game and the Gamecube version was very well done as well.

@MadAdam81 isn't that still true, they try to force their OS down our throats everywhere. Mobile phones, consoles, computers... Even multimedia players and free view boxes are expected to run on some kind of Microsoft OS, well if it was up to them at least. To Micro$oft it has always seemed like business first and fun is secondary.

Raptor78 commented on Don't Count Nintendo Out, Says Former Xbox Bos...:

@Nomad Growing up while video gaming was in it infancy, the only place to buy consoles and games where at your local Toymaster, Toys R Us, etc. There wasn't any videogame stores then, so yeah it was seen as a Toy and video games part of the Toy industry and Nintendo really lead the way back then (although I was team Sega back then). Now has time has moved on and Videogames has become it own thing with its own stores and so on I could argue its just a generation thing. When Sony and Microsoft had entered the market, Sega and Nintendo had already paved the way for them to be so much more than Toys. Consoles were standing shoulder to shoulder with PCs and just like PCs had their own place to buy the games instead of Toy shops. My kids would never consider Nintendo a toy company, but me with my rose tinted specs and fond memories of when console wars were just playschool banter "Alex kid is better than Mario " , I do see them as a Toy company. One that I respect and one which has been a pioneer for others to follow. In other words, its just a generational train of thought, not an insult.

Raptor78 commented on Don't Count Nintendo Out, Says Former Xbox Bos...:

@electrolite77 I never said it was anything to do with nerd boners, in fact quite the opposite. I said that I was actually put off buying an Xbone and a PS4 because I didn't really see what they had to offer me in comparison to a decent PC gaming rig. I am an advocate of the wiiU and try to convert as many people as I can. I actually said the wiiU was a victim of its previous success because many people just see it as a Wii+ rather than a whole new system with a completely different experience to it. If it had a different name etc, it could have been so much more but millions of people have a Wii and wonder why they need to upgrade.

Raptor78 commented on Don't Count Nintendo Out, Says Former Xbox Bos...:

@Einherjar Ironically my nerd boner went flacid after hearing what the competitors had to offer, I seemed to fall into the "well I have a PC for that kind of thing" category and the day we found out what Microsoft and Sony were pulling out for this gen, I went out and picked up a wiiU and a load of games... However, that being said, I do know quite a few people who even with a decent gaming PC rig were still dazzled by all the specs on those two systems and didn't even give the wiiU a second thought. The name didn't help as people just thought of it as a Wii with a couple of extra features rather than a whole new system. You could say it was a victim of its last generations success. Its a shame, because just like Sega had the Dreamcast, I do think the wiiU is Nintendo's best console to date and I would hate to think it becomes one of those consoles pick up after its death and think "this is a really great console, I wish I had gotten one of those" which happened to the Dreamcast.

Raptor78 commented on Video: Even Reggie Is Crazy About Runbow:

It was my son who had been crazy about this since the nindies demo, and yesterday it was his birthday so he looked forward all day to getting home from school and playing it... I haven't had as much fun in a long time. The game is hilarious and being able to unlock loads of other indie characters like Shovelknight and Rusty is a great bonus. Any fence sitters out there, I would 100% recommend it. I enjoyed the demo, but there is so much more in the full package.

Raptor78 commented on Nintendo: Wii U GamePad Is The Only Real Innov...:

I love the gamepad, I was unsure about it until I got my hands on it and it just seemed such a natural progression of the DS/3DS into home consoles. I guess after years of playing Nintendo's dual screen family, it felt so natural having the second screen for maps, inventory, etc. Also using it as offTV screen when the main TV is in use it is a great bonus. Finally playing local multiplayer on two separate screens is a blast. Feels like online but sat in same room. Racing games and FPS are great multiplayer in the two separate screens.

Raptor78 commented on Video: This New Soul Axiom Trailer Sets the Scene:

I really enjoyed Master Reboot and I didnt think the Nindies demo was that bad. Ive played a few Betas in the past so I wasnt put off by a few things in the demo like framerate because im confident that they will be sorted by its final release. I quite like the art style and dont really see it as bland, the music is fantastic just as it was in Reboot and I think it really helps the game. I suppose its a niche that Wales Interactive fits, and mabey its because im getting old, but I really like these first person puzzle games with a strong myster story behind them. Im not really one for flashy FPS.

Raptor78 commented on Devil's Third is Being Published by Nintendo o...:

I was so hyped by this game to start with and little by little my interest has been worn away. The multiplayer part of the game was such a big reason for getting this, I really hope this F2P PC thing is a way of boosting online players and that it will be cross play between PC and WiiU... but I find that doubtful

Raptor78 commented on Latest Splatoon Splatfest Results Are In, Eati...:

I was glad I was on Team Sleeping. I was on Rock last time and half my matches were against Rock. At least by being on the least popular team, I always got to play against Eating. Gutting that although we won more matches we lost because it was less popular.

Raptor78 commented on Splatoon Splats Top 10 NPD Position in June as...:

As far as I was aware, the NX was going to be some "third pillar" device so it wouldn't be replacing the wiiu or 3DS. That's not to say that they are not planning or replacing either of them, but not with the NX at any rate. This is like when we had the GameCube, the GBA and the DS.

Raptor78 commented on Ubisoft's Former Wii U Exclusive ZombiU Confir...:

@Royalblues I prefer the gamepad controller and I find my list of preferred controllers to be the reverse of what your is mainly due to the natural adoption of the DS/3DS controls. It just became second nature to me. But its just a personal choice. To me the most uncomfortable controller I have evet used has to be the range of Sony controls. To say companies arnt making games for the wiiu due to the controller, yet clearly have no issue adapting games to the 3DS / DS seems ridiculous to me. Sure other reasons will affect porting but controls doesn't seem like one of them.

Raptor78 commented on Ubisoft's Former Wii U Exclusive ZombiU Confir...:

@ DualWielding ...In really glad we had the exclusive when we did and I'm happy for people who have never played it to get a chance to see what it's like. However if I had an XboxOne I would rather play Dead Rising 3 and if I had a PS4 I would rather play the Last of Us. Unless Ubisoft do a really good makeover on this launch title, I think it will sell, just not well enough to justify porting it this long after initial release.

Raptor78 commented on Ubisoft's Former Wii U Exclusive ZombiU Confir...:

I enjoyed ZombiU, but if it wasn't for the gamepad it would have been a pretty generic zombie game and the setting really worked due to the 2012 Olympics in London and the Queens 60th Anniversary. The Location had just the right hype at the time. Now I don't really see what it has going for it when XboxOne and PS4 has their own IPs which seem better suited for them. I fear that this game will be lost amongst a tide of other games and not really make the additional money it cost to port and update it with. A shame though because its really worth picking up on the wiiU.

Raptor78 commented on DeNA Executive Confirms Plans For Five Nintend...:

I would like the games to have some kind of connectivity to the console games. The little village game that was part of Bravely Default would have worked well on your phone and then would have generated items for the main game in the same way. Ubusoft do some good games that are on mobile that link to main console titles, but could also be used independently just as if it was any other mobile game.

Raptor78 commented on Splatoon Amiibo Scheduled to be Restocked in J...:

I think special Amibo cards would solve this. I would understand selling packs of Amibo cards blindly would work for random characters, but as the Splatoon Amibos unlock very specific content, then they could sell them in shops just like eShop cards. Mabey have a deal like £5 each or a pack of all three cards for a tenner. Then eveybody who wants the DLC without an Amibo can pay to unlock it, just as if they had bought any other DLC.

Raptor78 commented on Guide: How to Get Involved in Splatoon's First...:

As far as I'm aware Japan also has another splatfest on the 3rd/4th of July, so any Americans taking this as a personal thing from Nintendo has got to consider how many countries are being affected by this. When you take into account Europe / PAL region and Asia and then the America, America isn't that large a percentage of players. If it had been a USA only event on the 4th I would have agreed that Nintendo were being jerks but seeing as it looks like a much bigger Splatfest I really think its unfortunate timing. If you check the Japanese Splatoon Twitter I'm sure they have a Splatfest between Udon Noodles and something else.?!?

Raptor78 commented on Super Mario Maker Producer Tells Fans Not To E...:

Metroid seems an obvious choice. The classic platformed version of Metroid with a nice HD style. I know that you will be able to add Samus to Mario maker by using the Amibo, but it wouild bre nice to have a specific Metroid maker.

Raptor78 commented on Splatoon Version 1.3.0 Update Due on 30th June...:

As a fan of the Ninja Kraken I am a bit saddened that they are both being nerfed, but hey that's how games work these days. Personaly I dislike the bubble shields and those areo guns and would like some nerfing on those. Mabey next time.

Raptor78 commented on Nintendo Isn't Talking About NX Because It Doe...:

I think Nintendo is right to keep a tight lip over the NX. Speculation from gaming sites like this and such is great but as soon as rivals know solid details, then they can work towards making something similar or something the polar opposite which will hurt sales. I think, or mabey it's wishful thinking, when they mentioned the transition from wiiu and the 3DS that this is a system that is both a home console and a handheld. If they can allow backward compatibility of both systems then they wouldn't be wasting any current assets and will start with a decent back catalogue. But yeah, speculation fine, concrete details this early is not fine.

Raptor78 commented on Nintendo Gets Tough With Miiverse Bans, and So...:

Its really that easy to avoid strikes on miiverse... I've received two in the past both were from Tomodatchi life. One was a reply to an actual miiverse friend who had asked if he could use our miis within his game. I got a strike for a five word sentence... "Sure, you can add me" and my second strike was for when someone asked me what the game was like and I said you play a benevolent god like figure like in the game Populous. And I got a strike for offensive religious comments. Until Nintendo sort out their moderators, console bans are way too risky.

Raptor78 commented on Luna Blaster Weapon Arriving Tomorrow For Spla...:

Samurai Chronicles was like this on the 3DS and I used to look forward to each weeks new content . It really does keep a game fresh, and if their not charging for it that's great. Releasing content that should have been in the game and charging for IIT would be something else altogether.

Ive waited too long for FF7 that to me Sony missed the boat. I ended up settling for the HD fanmade remake on the PC. So far ive not been excited by any of Sony and Microsofts offerings. I really enjoyed the world championship even if I was too tired to work the following day, the highlight for me was the Super Metroid eliminator, im not very good at the game and to see someone storm through the stage like they did really had me gripped. I am currently enjoying the Nindies at home, it was a nice little surprise and im hoping there will be more to come after the digital event.

Raptor78 commented on Video: Check Out the Official Trailers for the...:

I suppose the good thing about getting these previews out so early and having several months before release date means these issues could be addressed. Why not contact Wales Interactive and let them know what you think and mabey they could add that option. I really enjoyed the preview and I loved Master Reboot so its on the top of my list when it comes out.

Raptor78 commented on Nintendo Download: 18th June (Europe):

The nindies at home was a great surprise and I'm sure there will be more through the week. I would be very shocked if this was all there was... Any chance of the nindies at home for the 3ds before the end of the week

Raptor78 commented on Rumour: ZombiU Is Shedding Its Wii U Exclusivi...:

I really enjoy ZombiU and if they want to port it then fair enough, the only thing is that the element that really made the game stand out to me was the fantastic use of the pad. Without it, it just seems like another Zombie game to which each system has its own good ones already. If they can make anything more back from the wiiu assets great, but I think that the time working around the games great features that would make it seem generic, could cost as much as they make back.... Unless they are planning on releasing a sequel on those systems and are planning on a loss on the port just to encourage sales of the sequel.

Raptor78 commented on Latest Wii U System Update Removes TVii On Eur...:

I still hope that we will get an All4 app and ITVplayer. I know I have them on all types of devices already but I like using the wiiu TV apps on the pad. I already use netflix, Amazon and BBC iplayer... Oh and YouTube, which let's you watch movies and TV bought on your Google play account. So I really want those other TV player apps to let me do it all on my pad.

Raptor78 commented on PlatinumGames to Unveil a New Title at E3:

I always wanted them to port MadWorld to the 3DS. I absolutely love that game, and would love a 3D version or sequel that would incorporate touch screen instead of motion for attacks.

Raptor78 commented on Rumour: Nintendo NX Could Use Google's Android...:

I still use my Ouya when I go on holidays and such. The Ouya experience is very different to the phone experience, it doesn't rely on the "Google" part of android, which in some ways is a bad thing because it limits comparability of some things even if you side load them onto the system, But Ouya's store front works really well with games that have not only been specifically ported to the system some are exclusive. The problem with the Ouya is that it is a small fish trying to be a big fish in an extremely large pond. Nintendo would be a large fish in the exact same pond. Ouya may not have been successful on the surfaces, but have shown a lot of promise. Nintendo have shown what it can do with its range of "Nindies" and a bespoke version of android in a walled garden Nintendo shop front could be successful. People who don't use Ouya just seem to imagine its just Google play with a physical controller running through a TV. When infact it is a closed environment where you can only purchase through their own shop front. Sure you can root it and use it like any other Google device, and Ouya encourage people to use it as a development box as well, but side loaded stuff doesn't work aswell as fully optimized software and I'm sure Nintendo will make sure the walled garden storefront would have incredibly high walls and prevent rooting and side loading altogether. I suppose all I'm saying is that Android doesn't always have to mean Google.

If it follows the same free to play mode as Tank Tank Tank, then im in. Limited number of free turns a day with different levels and DLC modes available to buy , but once you buy one piece of the DLC it gets rid of the limited number of turns each day. Tank, Tank Tank was fun and shallow, but was easy worth paying a couple of pounds to unlock what I wanted.

The Gardening streetpass game was a suprise hit for me with it easily being my favourite despite me getting it just because I wanted the other three anyway... love the two new games, but I can see myself spending a lot of time on the fishing game, although I hate fishing. I had the my aquarium game on the wii and im pleasantly suprised that the fishing game has a nice aquarium mode too. Definitely worth picking both up and getting the discount.

Raptor78 commented on Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Dow...:

@MrKenta Im hoping that whatever the NX will be will be the bridge between home and handheld gaming. Im not really bothered if it is just a powerfull handheld that can compete against home systems or a full system with a fully portable aspect. If the NX is a handheld then so be it
