I knew there was not going to be a classic for the 3DS VC. I have a feeling Kirby's Block Ball might come next week because DSiWare is not scheduled for that day (so far!).
But if it doesn't, then NoA will HAVE a new all time low on the eshop, and that's a serious problem.
Yeah, I also purchased Penguin Patrol (formally Penguins in Peril in an April 2011 Nintendo Power issue [#266]), and its quite good as I thought it would be.
The launch of the DSiWare service three years ago on April 5, 2009. Thank you Nintendo for your heavy support for the service and releasing a very good game today!
@James - the magazine wasn't the only error made. Nintendo themselves also kind of made one too, as SpeedThru: Potzol's Puzzle was supposed to be released in February. Unfortunately that doesn't look to be the case (unless March 1st anyone?)
@theblackdragon and other staff: I think the Nintendo eShop Launch Guide needs to be updated where the "having just enough funds for a game" or whatever its called.
@punchout87 - No new information. Only the NES games have been confirmed for release to the general public. As for GBA, Nintendo stated that they currently don't have plans to release them to the general public at this time.
@James - Japanese general public gets Super Mario Bros. on 5th January (the second NES Ambassador game for 3DS).
I'm starting to get a bit concerned about Adventure Island if Nintendo of America is going to release it on Game Boy (and also NES since the GB version is based on AI2).
I would have prefered that over Kirby's Adventure. Also, Kirby is great too! Shame I don't think it will release until EU gets Balloon Kid and/or NA getting the NES game of Adventure Island 2.
@lalalalalalal - NOA just told me that Cut the Rope will not be coming out till around Christmas..... or was that "Cut the Presents"? No, no, just kidding... I think CTR should come out in November and if not, well then I have that formally titled Picture Lives! to play with
Just kidding! Hey this is the first time we got only one DSiWare game since 2 years ago (October 12, 2009 when Pinball Pulse was released). Thank you Nintendo for all the hard work you put into releasing DSiWare titles!
@antdickens - Can you and the rest of the NL team get rid of the "US" tags on the "Game Release" section and change it to "NA" when you are with the Eurogamer family? We all in this world want to be included and plus its professional too. I would also like to see way more coverage of Japanese games and related content. Its been ages since you guys announced a "Nintendo Download" update for Japan.
I'm not trying to intentionally give criticism, just offering these improvements.
Good download update for us even though not all games will suit everyones taste (I'm with Bass on this).
I purchased DotMan on Nintendo eShop today and its pretty fun. As for the 3DS VC, there is already a great selection of classics and I'm very thankful. Looking forward to playing Catrap soon!
I filled out an application for a prepaid/reloadable Visa Card because I couldn't wait any longer for the eshop cards. These prepaid cards can be done at Citizen's Bank or Vancity.
I will definitely download this game on Thursday. It feels kinda like a VC game. Glad to add this to my long list of DSiWare purchases — 116 now, and I'm happy to support the service!
@James - I think we knew for sure we're getting coins for the NES games since they will be available for sale to the general public close to the end of the year.
Just incase someone asks about Four Swords, the game will be available on both the Nintendo DSi Shop and Nintendo eShop in September.
@Xkhaoz3D - Every region pretty much is getting the soundtrack, or do you feel bad for not registering the game the first two days on the NA Club Nintendo?
CD estimate shipping is July 5th for us. I can't wait to hear the great sounds over and over again!
Great review guys! I used to have this game and loved it so much. Hopefully the Nintendo 3DS prepaid cards come to Canadian stores soon, then I can get this. (I don't like credit cards)
@Sean Aaron (#8) - Speaking of Club Nintendo, the North America branch got updated today with new Super Mario Bros. Premium hand towel rewards. Just want to mention posting news about that.
Yay for Number Battles! I plan to get it in the future, with a long backlog of already-released DSiWare titles. (Due to the support of the new DS releases).
I hope this game will come to NA eventually. Seeing that (most of the time) when Rising Star Games publishes DS games for Europe, Atlus publishes for North America.
I'm hoping Atlus or some other publisher can team up with Hudson and bring Bomberman Story here in the Americas.
Lame update! Instead why didn't we get these fun prizes:
2000 Nintendo Points Cards (2000 Coins) Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon Plush Toys (200-500 Coins) Exclusive Virtual Console/WiiWare downloads (500-1500 Coins)
The Nintendo Points cards and the digital downloads are a bad idea to suggest. It would be better to see more physical/real rewards than those two. The Nintendo plush toys are a good idea though.
@Atlantis1982/Starwolf UK - I'm just doubting that we get CN coins/stars for demos as a post-play survey, as they are not the full product.
I would be very surprised if we get coins in the end though. (Note: Flipnote Studio + DSi Browser were free, but were not demos. They were eligible for coins in PP survey).

This week, the first 5 games remain unchanged (with the freebies still in first and second). Battle of Giants: Dragons - Bronze Edition was the only new release in the top 20 (#17), while Viking Invasion and Sparkle Snapshots missed.
The biggest climber this week was SUDOKU (^8), while the biggest dropper was Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beacon (v5).
We say goodbye to Mario Calculator, which was 20th last week.
[N] New releases on the top 20 [-] Titles that were not on the Top 20 list the previous week (or in this case, a first Top 20 List for Canada covered by Versus22).
This week marks the first Top 20 entry for the Canadian region for the DSiWare service (if not covered in nearly the first 7 months). As usual, we see the freebies (Flipnote Studio, Nintendo DSi Browser) in the top 2 spots.
One of the new releases, SUDOKU, marked its entry to #16. PictureBook Games: The Royal Bluff did not make the top 20 this week yet. Hopefully, it will enter next week, as it is a pretty unique card game that I recommend over the other card games so far on the DSiWare service (the rest of them are stripped from the retail versions).
