Kitsune_Rei commented on Review: Wizdom (3DS eShop):

I'd also say this game has a bit of that Airport Mania feel in a way since you're managing both screens at once, and have to keep an eye on customer potion demands, and what you have stock of.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Review: Wizdom (3DS eShop):

Its a little more expensive on the $9.99 side, but I felt its just shy of being a cartridge game. There are a number of worlds which have a bunch of levels in each. The gameplay style is unique (at least from what I've played), and I thought it was really good. Surprised to see this only get a 6. Its still a little simple, but the game obviously has more polish and thought than a basic cheapie match game. I would have rated it higher, and recommend it. I'm currently on the second world and enjoying it. You generally don't have to worry about failing a level, but getting all the stars can be a challenge.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Pokémon Shuffle Gets Its First Ever Escalatio...:

It is a heart burner getting through the stages over and over, but at least I caught him eventually and its a useful Pokemon. I usually can't place high enough to get the special stones during competitions so that's frustrating I don't know how people have Pokemon at max level, they level up soooo slowly. I've played through most of the game.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Talking Point: The Fragility of Buying Downloa...:

I'll go digital when I have to or for cheap games, but with physical usually you can get something back when you're done. While I have some games I'd never get rid of, honestly how many people keep the majority of games they buy? Digital or physical, they're usually transitory. The thing is physically, the choice is always in your hands. You also don't have to worry about if you have account issues, save/game corruption (as much), etc. to have access to your game. Though you're also more likely to delete digital games as you're done to make room for more.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Monster Tale on Its Way to the 3DS eShop in a ...:

I always thought Monster Tale was an overlooked gem, I put a lot of time into the game and really liked it. It was fun and different. I was never willing to trade it in so I still have it. Really looking forward to this! Its been a long time since I played so it will be a perfect revisit

Kitsune_Rei commented on New Safari Event Now Live In Pokémon Shuffle:

Its actually pretty mean. I caught a couple of them (they're pretty difficult and the catch rates are low) and you keep wasting hearts to find ones you already have, but not ones you need.
in the main game I'm kinda stuck on Milotic because I don't want to use a power-up but I can't do enough damage. I got stuck a while in the usual places too, Mega Gengar is a beast. I got lucky and used Haunter to combo with the ones he'd leave, since they're still super effective.

I'm also disappointed at the lack of many password perks in the game.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Reaction: Pokémon Shuffle Isn't Quite Microtr...:

I would buy this game at a reasonable retail price, like Battle Trozei. I refuse to put money on one-shot items that have no actual guarantee of success. I'm not going to pay $1 and still fail to catch a Pokemon with a stupidly low capture rate. Its not a bad game, but I'm already seeing stuff set stupidly hard just to make you want to spend money. Leveling up your Pokemon seems slow, and with the heart regeneration grinding isn't something you can do much of.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Poll: Do Video Game Reviews Need To Have A Score?:

I like a basic score and summary at the bottom. If it did crap, I know I will probably pass without needing to know more. It means I don't have to read the whole thing if I'm in a hurry- I'll check the bottom, and then skim the review for details if I want to know more. If I do have time or really want to know everything, I'll read the whole review.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Nintendo and GungHo Online Entertainment Annou...:

Is the Mario one going to reach the US before the regular one? I mean it looks cute so I'm ok with it, but that just seems like it'd be weird. I've been waiting a long time for the regular one to come out and had kinda given up on it.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Pokémon Puzzle Challenge:

YAAAAY! I just realized this was coming because Serebii lists it as a way to get a demo code for Ruby/Sapphire. So buying, one of my all time favorite games.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Review: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Cal...:

Got it today, love it so far. I'd say it renders the first one obsolete. More songs, better modes. It seems to be beginner friendly, and it takes a while to get all the modes unlocked- the game explains everything really well, and makes you get familiar with each mode before giving you more, but doesn't make you linger too long with each one. Questing and Versus came later on.
I'm so used to stylus from the first one I stuck with it, but a friend was really digging button control. Its really adaptable for whatever you want to try, and you can easily switch styles.
The game does get super hard, but there seems to be plenty of content in the easy-medium range. There is SO MUCH to do. They seem more generous so far with giving you crystals for character unlocks. And you get to CHOOSE which character from the color group each time!
You share your quest maps just like the old dark notes, but this system is far better and more replayable.
I'm still figuring out how much my team setup matters and what I should do. My initial characters were just a group I liked. I don't even know who they all are. I'm trying to go magic since I liked that in the first game.

The only thing I could ask for is co-op play. My only annoyance was a few characters are DLC. There is already DLC up I think.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Kirby Mini-Games Now Available on North Americ...:

That seems a bit pricey even if they did add more content... they were pretty shallow games to begin with.
I must suck, because I didn't get the DeDe Drum game at all. Like I couldn't even get through part of the first one. I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing.
I played the Fighters one a bit, but I got bored with it. There's a lot of good selections, but its again pretty simple. I guess that would be more fun if you had friends to play with. It is pretty much Kirby-themed Smash Bros super light.

Such angry Kirby!

Kitsune_Rei commented on Demon King Box:

Well, other sites seem to be giving it really good reviews. I guess I will bite. The art style and gameplay seem up my alley.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Demon King Box:

Looking for reviews. I like the art style, but Circle has presented a pretty package full of disappointment many times, and I tend to not like their stuff. It certainly looks like they're trying to sell it with boobs. I streetpassed with someone who had been playing it, and frankly the game icon is kind of embarrassing.
Watching the video, this seems like those line defense games that are super popular as app games lately. I find it hard to trust it to be good, since Circle likes to reskin trendy game styles in a too simple manner that often has horrible difficulty curves.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Pocket Monsters Invade Arcades In Bandai Namco...:

This actually looks pretty meh. It looks like a gambling game? You're just trying to clear the board? It just looks so simple. So does the minigame at the end where you're just flinging Pokeballs at things wildly to try to get the Pokemon in the back.
It seems like the sort of game you'd play at Chuck e Cheese or something.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Poll: Is Online Co-Op a Major Miss in Hyrule W...:

Thank goodness for local co-op. I'm getting really tired of games that ONLY have online multiplayer. Because what two friends want to sit together on the couch to play? >.> If it didn't have local play, we wouldn't be getting the game.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Feature: Ten Wii U and 3DS eShop Games That Ar...:

I tried the Harmoknight demo and thought it was too hard, or I just wasn't getting it, so I didn't consider it for purchase.
I liked the earlier Denpa Men game a lot, and I heard they just keep getting better- such a great light RPG.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Talking Point: Just How Similar Are Tomodachi ...:

I enjoy Tomodachi Life more than Animal Crossing in a way because its just the core messing with stuff and relationships without the daily labor sort of stuff Animal Crossing had. Its just a fun quirky game that doesn't try to make anything feel like work. You poke around and watch things develop, and are rewarded with unexpected quirky interactions. Its like Animal Crossing in that you can't completely judge it from a day of play.
Also my friend got the demo and while he liked it, he said it was SUPER limited. So don't judge the game too much by its limitation.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Guide: How To Import Miis Into Tomodachi Life ...:

I love the options they give you for transferring in people! They keep it always adjustable too which is awesome. Feel like you don't like a voice you made? Go change it!
I'm also happy they had distributed a bunch of gold-pants Miis over wifi a while back, so I do have a good number of em. Whee legit Reggie and Iwata~! My priority has been RL friends, but I don't have that many so am also adding fictional people that amuse me. Like Snape.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Review: The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll ...:

I'll probably get it eventually, but I'm way behind. I'm pretty close but havn't quite beat the first one, and wanted to do that first (although its been a while since I played, since other games are distracting me). I bought the second on sale so then that's waiting for me. If I hadn't already bought the second, maybe I'd consider just skipping to the third. I'm glad that series has gotten appreciation, I think it deserves it. The catching your own party adds a really fun element to the genre. I'm sure the later games add some more meat than the first one did, so it is probably best for new players to skip to 2 or 3. I assume they still let you import your party from the demo, which I thought was really cool.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Review: Grinsia (3DS eShop):

I was going to pass on this because it looked too generic for me. I like RPGs, but I'm looking for a GOOD game, not something to fill a nostalgia-hole. I can play the ACTUAL classics if I really want to, and there are PLENTY of clones. I'm still into the pixel art, but I won't get a game if its pretty shallow otherwise. As someone else said, RPGs take a lot of time since a main mechanic is still grinding. If I just want parties and grinding there's even stuff like Knights of Pen and Paper. I'm enjoying Bravely Default so I don't mind milking that for all its worth.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Meet Sticks, The New Member of Sonic Boom's "C...:

I'm a sucker for pigtails, so I don't think she looks that bad. It could have been a lot, lot worse.
I'm actually glad she DIDN'T have the obvious Australian voice. Its maybe a little raspy, but I don't think its very high-pitched.
So, I assume the "Dumb as a Stick" jokes have been made? I kinda get annoyed when they say a character is really smart, but make them the butt of constant ignorant jokes based on them saying stuff that sounds dumb all the time.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Puzzle & Dragons Z:

I played it on Android, and I enjoy it. I look forward to them dropping some of the tactics just to make you put money into the game. I've been playing for free though. And the puzzling is different since you grab a piece and you can keep using it to shift piece around until the timer runs out. Its still pretty hard though.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Review: Smash Cat Heroes (3DS eShop):

I was curious when I heard the "dynasty warriors" analogy. Definitely going on my wishlist, but not sure if I'll bite since its pretty shallow. I may wait until I've gotten through some other games.

Kitsune_Rei commented on Tappingo Gets a 30% Discount in Early May:

I picked it up not long after it came out, and I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth at regular price and have no regrets. I havn't beat it, but there is a lot to do. I do pretty much "get" the game now so solving puzzles generally is more of a relaxing rather than challenging experience, but its a neat puzzle concept and its just fun to see the colors roll out into a picture.
Definitely recommended if you like picture puzzle games.
