KeeperBvK commented on Hyperkin's RetroN 5 Console Allegedly Infringe...:

I am well aware of emulators not being illegal and I can imagine it being a lot of work. But that's not the point. Having to put work into anything certainly doesn't make it better. I would imagine planning and pulling off a bank heist would be quite a lot of work, too, but so what? And emulators for platforms like the NES, SNES, Mega Drive or whatnot might not be illegal per se, but it is obvious that they are used for illegal actions well over 99% of the time. These guys behind those emulators are well aware of that as well or if not, then they should be.
How about another analogy? I create a powerful weapon (the emulator) that can also be used as a can opener (the legal options it provides, yet nearly nobody uses). I only construct the weapon, but I don't manufacture any ammunition (the roms) for it, despite this ammunition being really easy to come by for anyone. Does that mean I can wash my hands in innocence? Certainly not.

KeeperBvK commented on Review: Mega Man 7 (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo):

MM 7 was a decent game, but I couldn't stand its difficulty. Or lack thereof. I rushed through the entire game on my first day with it without encountering any problems, just for the final boss to be frustratingly hard. And when I had used all of my E tanks in said battle, I basically had to reply the last four stages again to collect more tanks. That's horrid design.
Still, it's overall a decent game, just a weak Mega Man.

KeeperBvK commented on Nintendo Download: 18th September (Europe):

@Einherjar I know that you didn't mention the 3DS, which is exactly why I did. The recent weeks of MM downloads in Europe were only on 3DS. There was no continuity in WiiU MM releases at all, so there is hardly a "break" as you called it. It's all just come to its foreseeable end.

KeeperBvK commented on Review: Bit Boy!! ARCADE (3DS eShop):

Wow, I can't understand the discussion that's been had here. To me the review is absolutely spot-on. Phil has mentioned exactly all of the issues I had with the game as well and yet he's managed to not entirely bash the game but mention all of its positive aspects as well. I, too, found the presentation and premise of the game to be charming at least, but this can't make up for all of its gameplay flaws.

KeeperBvK commented on Review: Glory of Generals (3DS eShop):

@OorWullie Oh, rest assured that I am. I just can't stand how the English language is sometimes horribly deteriorating in the comment section here at NL. And I'm not even not native-speaking.
Don't get me wrong: Everybody does typos, but stuff like "we'll thought-out" is not a typo, as one would never hit get even close to that key when typing "well". It's laziness in combination with an utter lack of understanding the most simple grammmatic rules. Just like the "should of" that's spreading like wildfire.

KeeperBvK commented on Review: Phonics Fun with Biff, Chip & Kipper: ...:

@NicolaHayden As an editor you should be aware of the difference between "its" and "it's". You did not only confuse it in your comment in the comments section but also in the review.
You even used both of them the exact wrong way. Not just one of them.
If people in the comments can't use proper English, that's one thing, but PLEASE take care of your articles, Nintendolife...

KeeperBvK commented on Weirdness: Earthbound Designer Shigesato Itoi ...:

@WinterWarm Why wouldn't this make for a heated debate? How the hell can somebody honestly ask why anybody should give a "crap"? How about if a state in the country you live in was polluted by massiva radiation? So you wouldn't care about the fresh produce coming from that region? Or about the people trying to make a living there? Or about official information contradicting other official information?

KeeperBvK commented on Review: Mysterious Stars: The Samurai (DSiWare):

Why wouldn't they release games on DSiWare?
There are still lots of people owning a DSi but no 3DS. Plus, every 3DS owner can also download it. So DSiWare potentially reaches a far bigger audience than a 3DS eshop game.

KeeperBvK commented on Nintendo Download: 31st July (Europe):

I as a 3DS owner can't help but feel pretty disappointed. For weeks now we haven't seen a whole lot of worthwhile digital releases apart from Pokémon TCG. Especially the 3DS VC looks quite dire.
At least Wii U owners are getting some decent to great releases. I loved Rainbow Bell Adventures back on the SNES.

KeeperBvK commented on Review: Mega Man 5 (Wii U eShop / NES):

Regarding the comments here: Just to make this clear, this game isn't called MM V, it's MM 5.
The Roman numbers are reserved for the Gameboy entries, thus making it easy to distinguish between them and the NES entries. ;)

KeeperBvK commented on Review: GAIABREAKER (Wii U eShop):

@Nintenjoe64 Nano Assault looks good (haven't played it), but it hardly qualifies as a shmup. :)
Some parts definitely resemble a shmup, but others are rather railshooter sections like Sin & Punishment or Starfox. That's at least what I get from the trailer.

KeeperBvK commented on EarthBound 20th Anniversary Figures Seeing Rel...:

@WarioMan You do know that one facepalms when something stupid is being done, right? You don't facepalm when there's just something you don't like.
And I fail to see how adecision to release Earthbound figurines only in Japan where the market for such is much bigger than in any other country would be a stupid decision. It's just a sad one.
So, nothing to facepalm here.

@Stomatopod17 You've been waiting 20 years for a game that had been released in 2006?

KeeperBvK commented on Dragon Quest X Is Now Adventuring Onto 3DS:

@Tsurii897 Why would that be stupid? Might wanna reprhase what is simply your opinion. You don't like the idea of an MMO on a handheld. Good for you, but it's not stupid. You think that upgrading a PC is "bullpoopiepoodlepoop"? Well, it's not. You can perfectly keep your PC the way you bought it for years without having trouble running next to all new games. In fact you would only have to buy new parts about the same time you would have to buy an entirely new console because the old one isn't supported anymore. How is either one bullpoopiepoodlepoop?
