I've been a gamer for 12 years and counting although I wanted a console since I was old enough to know about them so I was always a gamer at heart. I only played games on consoles for most of my life though, still prefer them.

@Kaze_Memaryu I got it from playing both franchises since they started. All of those complaints clearly came from people who don't know how to play the games properly and you pretty much just said yourself that you've only played Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which is actually built to be easier to pick up and play than all previous iterations of the series.
I haven't met a single person who knows how to play the games properly and has made the complaints you're making. Let me put it this way: If these games are as bad as you say they are, why don't they get much, if any, flak? Why are they always rated among the top fighting games (especially Tekken)? Why are Namco always credited as being among the best at creating 3D fighters? Oh and don't go saying "But none of that is true!" because as well as playing the franchises since they started, I've also followed them and Namco themselves since these franchises started.

@Kaze_Memaryu Tekken and SoulCalibur don't even have balancing issues though (ok, SoulCalibur V does). The whole point is each character has their own strengths and weaknesses. You, as the player, have to exploit these. It's that simple, it's also how all 3D fighters that require an ounce of skill work. If all 3D fighters were perfectly balanced, there would be no skill required and they would all be boring spam-fests.

Therefore, NamcoBandai are not incompetent when it comes to 3D fighters. They understand exactly how to make the games just challenging enough to require skill but not so challenging they become impossible (aside from some of Tekkens boss fights and some of SoulCaliburs campaign missions).

@Kaze_Memaryu So you're saying Tekken and SoulCalibur, two of the best and most popular 3D fighting game franchises, are bad? In this video, it actually doesn't look like there's that much free-roaming. It looks more like Tekken and SoulCaliburs style of movement, a full 8 directions in a 3D arena but only moving in directions other than forward and backwards while dodging which a D-pad is best for.

Oh and FYI: NamcoBandai helped develop Smash for WiiU and 3DS as well as developing a whole host of anime-based fighting games so by saying they're incompetent with fighting games, you're also saying all of these games are bad on top of Tekken and SoulCalibur.

I really hope this will see a WiiU release with Tekken 6 style campaign mode and, possibly, Tekken style customisation!

Also, if not already announced, Sneasel or at least Weavile please! That's my favourite evolution line and it could easily play like the usual token ninja characters!

@PokeNas It is a full game. You can beat it without paying a penny/cent if you so wish. You're only spending money on the higher cost balloons which is only if you want to collect all the Pokemon, again, an optional feature. I've gotten all the way to rank 25 and counting without spending any real money.

Also, how is one or two people going to make a difference by not downloading it? One or two downloads is nothing, it's a pointless effort. You might as well give it a fair try instead of just going "Hurr, dey wants mah moneyz, nope".

@TeeJay So you don't want a full game for free? That's what this basically is. You only pay money if you WANT to, not if you NEED to. You'd rather pay £30 to £40? I really fail to see any sense in your logic here...

kamifox1 commented on Legend of Kay Anniversary Set for Budget Retai...:

@andrew20 It was on DS so you could just play that version on your 3DS/New 3DS but why should they be obligated to put the remake on 3DS/New 3DS anyway? Maybe they simply feel it won't look or run as nicely on 3DS/New 3DS.

Unless you haven't got any of the listed platforms (or a PC/Mac that's capable of running semi-decent games), I see absolutely no reason to get the PS2 version instead of this remake, to be honest. Yes, the PS2 version's cheaper but it lacks the quality and finish the remake will no doubt have.

People actually acknowledge this games existence?! I own it on PS2 and love it, aside from the bad voice acting and even worse ending (I won't spoil it) but I've never met anyone who even knows it exists! I'll definitely pick this up!

Not sure why so many people are moaning about shelf space here... They're keychains... They don't go on shelves and if you DO choose to display them that way, they barely take up any space anyway. You can even put them on and between things on said shelves...

@mjc0961 Uh... yes, yes it all did... You probably assume this because you never leave your 3DS on to know otherwise but Streetpass and Spotpass both work constantly while the 3DS is left running. Only times it doesn't work is if you're in a DS game, in the case of Spotpass nowhere near an access point or in the case of Streetpass, in a very secluded area with not many other people with 3DS' around such as in a small town or out in the sticks somewhere.

The game itself looks fine but that voice over's SO annoying! The characters designs look awful too, they look like someone from the people who made those Dalmatians and Animal Soccer games (look them up if you don't know them) or even cheap knock-off cereal boxes...

EDIT: Oh Jesus christ! I just tried the free demo you linked in the article and... It doesn't even work! It doesn't load the level at all! It just loads audio, some sort of completely blue scenery with vague outlines of trees, random floating text behind the trees and black background. When I tried a second time, there's was an addition of some colourful bars everywhere behind the trees.... I also had trouble exiting the controller mapping screen after entering it. I know this is an alpha build but come on! At least make it playable before making it publicly available!

It's 2.5D, not 2D.
Nitpicking aside, this looks REALLY good! Like a combination of Sonic Colours and Rayman Legends/Origins. The music reminds me of Sonic 3 (especially that "come on!") crossed with Rayman 3 and a bit of Mario when that jazzy bit comes in!

kamifox1 commented on Super Smash Bros. Players Encounter Wii U Erro...:

Not saying this game is awful because of this (as well as the 3DS games ban glitch) but really? This game gets a glitch that BRICKS SYSTEMS and WIPES MEMORIES and the vast majority still considers it a good game, a Sonic game gets a couple glitches that leave you having to reset the game and play from the last save (oh noes!) which I, personally only encountered once and it was my own fault, and it's an awful game, the new '06, worst game ever, no one should touch it. BRICKING CONSOLES and WIPING MEMORIES is much worse than simply having to restart from the last save.

Sure, I use memes a lot myself. Yes, they're a good way to fool around with friends and funny in the right context. But no way, NO WAY will I EVER play this RUBBISH. Just watching the video I have a hard time focusing on one thing and the guy yelling just irritates the hell out of me. I play games for FUN, not to be irritated!

kamifox1 commented on Sonic Boom Exploit Allows Players to Skip Larg...:

@Drobotic Exactly, I'm exactly the same. It's really getting to me how everyone's finding the smallest things to bash about this game. Glitches happen, almost all the ones I've seen so far have been forced anyway. Bad textures don't matter as long as they're not REALLY awful, which they aren't. Dropped framerates, who cares? Not me, as long as it's not as bad as Assassins Creed: Unity.

@hydeks Try the 3DS demo then say that.. Yeah, it's not the same game but it's still SEGAs and it's still being released at the same time. Also, there have been good Sonic games since '06 and before '06 (aside from Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 4 and Sonic Chronicles).

kamifox1

kamifox1 commented on Video: Early Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric Footage...:

@AVahne Not... really.. That's your opinion, fair enough but it actually looks very fun, especially with friends which is the main focus of the game. Besides, if you don't like Sonic, why are you looking at a Sonic game? It's only Sonic that's been bad in the general publics eyes for so long so that's clearly what you were getting at in your first comment, don't try to deny that.

Oh and fyi, SEGA recently started fixing Sonic Adventure DX on Steam and Boom is being developed by a different team so who knows, they might fix it. You don't know yet.

The framerates aren't even that bad, I just watched it. It's a bit jumpy in places but that's bearable. Also, bear in mind it's in co-op, that's bound to cause issues anyway, it's trying to run several models, connections etc. and such at once.

kamifox1 commented on Video: Early Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric Footage...:

@AVahne Again, may I bring to your attention the file corrupting Pokemon X/Y had and the banning glitch SSB 3DS has? Much more game breaking than falling through a floor. At least you can just restart the game and no harm is done.

Also textures and framerates do not a fun game make. You want something that looks pretty? Go watch a film or TV show.

kamifox1 commented on Video: Early Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric Footage...:

@AVahne 'Cause 1 glitch, a few bad textures and low framerate = crap. Of course. God-forbid the game might actually be enjoyable.

Oh and the Miku games are rare in the west. There's been a sum total of 2 released in the West so far. We never got any of the PSP or 3DS games (they fell silent on that one 3DS one, surprise, surprise).

kamifox1

kamifox1 commented on Video: Early Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric Footage...:

Oh no, one glitch. From going where you shouldn't. I guess that makes every game in existence bad then, right? No game is perfect, there's always at least one glitch that slips through the testing phase. Are we forgetting about that glitch in Pokemon X/Y that corrupted peoples saves in Lumiose City? That was only about a year ago. Oh and that banning glitch in SSB 3DS, that was this year.

Also, I still don't get the obsession with framerates nowadays. If you can still play a PS1/N64/Dreamcast game all of which existed before 60fps was even a thing, you can put up with less than 60fps in a new game. Get over it.

kamifox1 commented on Region-Locking May Be a Thing of the Past Soon...:

@zool I totally agree with that, especially when they claim that's why they won't localise certain games that were released in America. Why don't they just redo the age rating and compatibility and ship the US copy to us? This especially reminds me of the time Insomniac and Sony refused to put the Spyro trilogy on the EU PSN store. Why? Because of "translation issues". They finally caved and gave it to us and what did we get? The US port. WHY didn't they do that in the first place?!

kamifox1

kamifox1 commented on Region-Locking May Be a Thing of the Past Soon...:

By "since the DSi" do you mean after or during the DSis lifetime? Because my DSi runs American game cards despite being a European console that was bought brand new on release...

On another note, I hope this means the New 3DS will have no region lock because I REALLY want to own and play Hatsune Miku Project Mirai and Digimon World Re: Digitize Decode (I ended up importing the PSP original instead since they fell silent on localizing the 3DS remake which has extra content). Unfortunately this means there aren't enough games I want to make buying a Japanese 3DS worth my time or money so I'd much rather have a region-free European 3DS so I can still play all the European releases I love too.

To those who are talking about unbalance in Smash Bros., first off, that's always been the case. Secondly, it's normal for a fighter to have a certain level of unbalance. You can't have everyone with the exact same stats and abilities. The trick is to take advantage of the characters strengths and weaknesses instead of just pummeling them and hoping you'll win somehow.

Anyway, on topic. HERE, HAVE A BAN FOR LIFE AND THEN SOME!

Uh, hey, why isn't anyone in the comments mentioning the Animal Crossing track that is very obviously going to happen? There's a massive Animal Crossing leaf on one of the DLC Grand Prixs, it even shows the track when you click on it then next... There's a Yoshi shell, Triforce, Animal Crossing leaf and bell with a face (unsure what that one is). Pretty big hints if you ask me.

Anyway, on topic, looking foward to all the DLC for this game! I just got it on Thursday but I'm already hooked! I'm going to pre-pay for the whole season pass later on in anticipation (I wasn't left with enough money for it after buying the Mario Kart 8 premium bundle).
