jonfl1 commented on Review: The Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret ...:

I got in on the Kickstarter for this because I was a huge fan of the original show when I was a kid, but I didn't realize until I started playing 'Secret Paths' that it pulled so much from the new series. From a gameplay perspective, I agree with the review; it may be just a little too simplistic for most. But for fans of the show(s), it's a trip down memory lane even if the story and cut scenes only reference the new series.

Who really cares if the big N grovels at their feet or not? I buy Nintendo primarily for Nintendo IP anyway, as everything else gets played on my PC. (including anything from Bethesda) My 360? Yeah, it's collecting dust. Nintendo brought true innovation to the table with the Wii/Wii U, and if that alienates the behemoth, high-and-mighty dev houses, then who cares. The last thing we all need are Nintendo, MS and Sony consoles that are basically all the same just because they all want support from the devs making CoD12, or Madden52, etc. ad nauseam...

jonfl1 commented on Feature: A Short History of Luigi:

Super Mario Bros. 2 was the game that really made me appreciate Luigi as his own distinct character with qualities that truly set him apart from (and totally complimented) Mario. Now with the 'year of Luigi,' I'm really looking forward to playing the New Super Mario Bros. U DLC featuring him, and I'm glad Nintendo actually appears to be putting significant effort into this add-on.

@Zellybeanie Although my minifigs didn't get the royal treatment like yours did, I too saw them in a much more creative and lifelike way.
On another note, I just finished DLing LCU and look forward to playing it with my kiddos. This will be the first LEGO game I've even touched in over a decade!

Having grown up with the original, I can say that this is currently one of the things I'm looking forward most to on the Wii U. Following its inevitable sales success, I'm looking forward to seeing the equally-awesome Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers get the same treatment!

jonfl1 commented on Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma:

Download all the way, unless there's a really good retail sale. Nothing beats storing my library on a single little USB HDD as opposed to worrying about losing or damaging a fragile optical disc. As a big PC gamer, Steam has made me a firm believer in digital distribution. But then again, they've got it down to an art form...
