johndevine commented on Ubisoft's Latest UK Release Schedule Still Sho...:

It is a disgrace that Nintendo haven't revealed release dates for remainder of the year.

No release dates for Bayonetta or Smash Bros Wii U.

Which I want to book some time off work for, but of course I cannot do so until dates are announced!!!

Ps. I couldn't care less about Watch_Dogs.

johndevine commented on 3DS System Update 8.1.0-18 is Now Live:

Last update screwed my 3DS. Had to go to Nintendo for fixing. They charged me. I guess they thought I was trying to do modifications or something.

Once they got the unit and realised I had done nothing they refunded me for my payment.

Still waiting on it's return though.... it's been 3 weeks!!!!

johndevine commented on Takashi Tezuka: Mario Maker Won't Move Quite L...:

As someone who has owned played and completed all the Mario games since Super Mario Bros... This was the first thing that came into my mind when I seen the E3 coverage of this title.

Playing Mario in the older graphical style with the newer gameplay style is gonna mess with my brain.

Being honest, Im worried about this title.

My belief in Tezuka was unfailing. Until Yoshis Island on the 3DS. Which was the worst Nintendo update Ive played in a long time.

Finished it, but was ultimately disappointed in it.

Also not holding out much hope for Yarn Yoshi. Graphics are good. But initial videos havent rocked my world. Too slow.

I hope Mario Maker is good. I guess its an important title for the Wii u.

And the Nintendo hating continues it seems...

Despite the Wii U being the best home console at the moment.

At least in terms of software quality. It's cool to hate on Nintendo at minute.

If Lovin Nintendo is wrong. I don't wanna be right!

johndevine commented on Nintendo Comes Up Empty at BAFTA Awards:

Videogame BAFTAs are a load of dung.

I believe that no nominations for Nintendo's 3DS titles, is an indication that these awards are organised by a bunch of toffs who know NOTHING about gaming.

About as much credibility as the stupid BRIT music awards.

Does anyone know how much the Digital version (of Mario Kart 8) will cost?

I would love to be able to avail of this offer, but I have two Wii U consoles and Nintendo's terrible online management means I have to avoid digital purchasing if possible.

I can't play my online games on both my consoles. Terrible state of affairs.

johndevine commented on Month Of Kong: What Donkey Kong Country Means ...:

@GunstarHero234 wannabe?

They aren't shoving anything down your throat.

Nor are they pumping them out at the rate Rare were.

I am a huge fan of the SNES trilogy.

But will gladly admit to enjoying the newer kong titles even more. If the 11 year old me had played Tropical freeze. I'd have had a blast.
Returns and tropical freeze are both immense platformers.

Have you played them?

Or more importantly have you finished them.
They are brilliant and very worthy successors to the SNES Kongs.

Although I now hope that Retro don't put out another Kong sequel until the next Nintendo console.

One per console is enough for me. Variety is important.

johndevine commented on Rayman Legends On Wii U Is Still The ''Definit...:

@Emblem please tell me where you found Digital foundry to be unreputable. A link to the article in question would be good.

Rayman Legends is a good game. Best 3rd party title on console. Which is really refreshing for Wii U.

Indeed it really would have been great if it had remained as an exclusive.

I'm a football fan.
But I'm also mainly a gamer.
I don't really dig football games since the old N64 ISS days.

But this looks really, really good.

It looks like it could offer tons of replay value. Hope the Streetpass works well!!!!

johndevine commented on Watch_Dogs Delayed Again on Wii U, Will Arrive...:

@MrGawain more companies are going to struggle in this next gen for a while. The industry really is changing.

While it seems inevitable that the Wii U isn't gonna break sales records...Im not convinced that the xbone and ps4 will keep the momentum that they had from their impressive christmas sales.
I can't see them selling as much as the last gen.
Gaming industry is changing. Big style.

Late or not. This was/is always gonna be a subpar port of a half decent game.

Best possible news for me is that this boring looking game is cancelled.

If you disagree that the game is boring looking please feel free to point out the bits that actually look exciting from what we have seen of the game so far.

@mercurio2054 no... she OBVIOUSLY lost it with Wii Fit U.

Contact the Health Promotion Evaluation Unit at the University of Western Australia and tell them that your wife is living proof that they are wrong.

Once you have done that:
Get your kids Brain Training and they will end up at Oxford and probably become Barristers.

Maybe if you play more Mario you'll grow facial hair and jump higher.

johndevine commented on Wii Fit No Substitute For Real Exercise Accord...:

@unrandomsam This argument is now as pointless as this article was.

The point remains: Wii Fit U is a good game/tool. I believe that it can help motivate someone who is already intent on becoming fit through other methods.

If you are a fat mess, who is lying in the house and considering losing weight. Then don't expect Wii Fit U to change your life.

johndevine commented on Wii Fit No Substitute For Real Exercise Accord...:

@HappyHappyist
First of all you mean "you're" not your.

Secondly, I have played the games.
I've played them quite a bit (as games, not exercise aids)

Wii fit has some good games and is a great piece of software. It usually sells because dumb/fat people usually believe it will help them lose weight.

I however, am a gamer, that is why I have got the software. (I bought the Meter)

I have met (and work) with fat (non-gaming) people who have said that Wii Fit is great.
All these people have been fat since I first met them and don't look any slimmer since they got Wii Fit, (in most cases they are fatter) yet they always say about how good it is.

My guess it that these fat folks have bought the game, just in order to make themselves feel better.

They may enjoy it.... but the fact is that they are still fat.

If they were genuinely interested in doing exercise they should go outside.
People paying for fitness is one of the daftest ideas I have ever encountered.

Next you'll be telling me that bottled water can hydrate you more efficiently than tap water.

FACT is: The study stated: Wii Fit is No Substitute For Real Exercise According To Academic Research.
