jacksayspurple commented on Parent Trap: Forging A Link Between Worlds:

Not sure I'd quite describe the different perceptions of video-games as 'the biggest challenge in a family', but it certainly an interesting issue! When I was a kid, I never had any home consoles until I was bought the original Xbox for Christmas one year - my parents have never been gamers so I grew up in a video-gameless house, but I'm a massive gamer now. It's great that these kids get to experience these games for themselves and form their own memories of the games that are coming out this time. Plus it's adorable how Zelda inspired this little dude! So cute!

This is a joke right? I use Swapnote to send messages to my boyfriend when I'm away at university. The app is completely pointless without Spotpass. Why write a message to people you pass by when you could just talk to them? Shut up, Nintendo. There's just as much offensive material that can be passed through Streetpass.

@element187 I didn't call you any names, I was just pointing out that with your comment you seemed to be trying to belittle my thoughts and make me look stupid, and in doing you managed to make yourself look the fool. If I've misinterpreted your comment then please accept my sincerest apologies. The internet can be a dark and scary place filled with nasty, cold, rudeness and as such it can often be hard to distinguish between that and good natured replies. If your comment was the latter then I am most sorry, if it was the former, then I am not.

Day pass is a really great idea for the people who only whack out these games at parties or to show them off to friends and relatives! Did Nintendo confirm any of the GamePad functionality which they showed in the E3 Tech Demo footage?

jacksayspurple commented on Peter Molyneux Reveals His Favourite Zelda Tit...:

I have to agree with him. I'm not sure whether it's because Twilight Princess was my first console Zelda experience, but I have always thought it has been the most epic one which I've ever played. Everyone criticizes the look of it, but I think it's beautiful, the story is focussed yet interesting, and the size of it meant there was always a lot to discover. I only wish I'd played Ocarina of Time first so that I would have understood the references...

jacksayspurple commented on Satoru Iwata Cites Poor Basic Wii U Sales To R...:

Iwata is kidding himself. The basic pack didn't sell for a few reasons.
1) The memory on the system was a joke. 8gb?! Seriously?
2) The Basic version was in White. People prefer black consoles.
3) The Premium edition had a tonne more stuff bundled in for the price you paid.

The Basic edition was NEVER going to sell as well as the Premium edition, and using its not selling as a reason to say 'Price isn't an issue' is completely stupid and ludicrous. I agree with Nintendo on most things, but these excuses over the price of the Wii U are insane.

I think the PSP Go provided a timely reminder for the video games industry of the dangers of undercutting retailers and denying them profits. It's a mistake that proved costly for Sony and I doubt any company would be foolish enough to try any similar scheme for a while...

I really really like the designs of the Pokemon this generation! Then again, I'm not so hot on the Cotton Candy Pokemon... didn't the Vanillite line teach Nintendo the perils of making confectionery based 'mon?! Haha! Still gonna be catching one though, after all, GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL, POKEMON!

jacksayspurple commented on Fan Campaign Starts for Princess Zelda to be G...:

I know she got captured by Ganondorf and everything, but I genuinely thought Zelda put in a pretty strong effort in The Twilight Princess. She was there with a sword fighting off the forces of evil and as far as I remember she only gave up and allowed Ganondorf to win because she thought it'd spare her people. And then she busted out the Goddess' Bow in the final battle, and... man, I gotta play this game again!!

jacksayspurple commented on Talking Point: The Wii U's Third-Party Concern...:

Genuinely starting to believe that the media is trying to create this impression that Wii U is a massive failure in order to force Nintendo to start publishing games on other systems. I mean, most of these people grew up with Nintendo games, but now as adults, to be a Nintendo fan, is seen by a lot of people as something of a joke. So pushing Nintendo to release their games on Xbox and Playstation seems to be the best of both worlds. Definite conspiracy theory right here.

I'm in Europe and I keep getting a Spotpass notification (y'know the little blue dot?) on Animal Crossing, but I've received this month's DLC, and there's nothing new in the Happy Home Showcase... mysterious. Anyone know what it could be?

jacksayspurple commented on Shigeru Miyamoto Is Open to More Female Heroin...:

Nice that Miyamoto considers these things. Even nicer that he considers themes such as sexual identity given the recent controversy over Tomodachi Collection. That said, wouldn't a gay man be more interested in rescuing another man than a lesbian woman and vice versa? Haha! As a gay guy myself, I think I'd rather play as a gay character rescuing my lover! But awwwww! It's still nice! Gotta love Miyamoto! What a sweetheart!

Nintendo has definitely got the right idea for DLC. I don't have a problem with paying a little bit extra if I get my money's worth in content. Skyrim's DLC has been absolutely fantastic and well worth the price I paid for it. If Nintendo offer DLC like that then I'll be pleased!

jacksayspurple commented on Rumour: Tomodachi Collection: New Life Update ...:

@Meaty-cheeky "unnatural" sexual desire? Ok, that's offensive. It'd be silly to get into discusses about how people don't choose to be gay same as they don't choose to be straight, etc etc. But no, either you argue that video games shouldn't introduce children to sexual desire, or you argue introducing children to the idea that being gay isn't something to be ashamed of so they don't grow up with a whole load of self-hatred. Either way, 'straight-washing' things like video games that children have access to isn't a good thing.

jacksayspurple commented on Rumour: Tomodachi Collection: New Life Update ...:

@Zup when you say 'you don't support gay rights' but you say you do support gays being treated the same as everyone else. That's supporting gay rights. That's all gay people want to be treated as, the same as everyone else with the same rights and privileges as anyone else. That's why it's so important that EVERYONE from every margin of life gets a chance to be represented in mediums like video games so that we can all be equal!

jacksayspurple commented on Rumour: Tomodachi Collection: New Life Update ...:

A lot of people are saying 'it's a glitch that didn't need to be in there'. Well, I think that's quite an easy thing to say if you're a straight person, but as a gay guy myself I find it quite nice when video games acknowledge that people like me exist. For gay people the option of same-sex marriage in games DOES need to be there. It is important to us because it's nice to be acknowledged. It doesn't need to be a big feature, and if most people never even know that it's there, then that's fine, but small things like homosexuality being featured in games can sometimes really mean the world to some people. Nintendo is always using silent protagonists so you can feel as though it's you who's playing the game. I don't feel I could enjoy a game like Tomodachi Collection if it didn't include same-sex marriage as I wouldn't be able to feel like I'm playing as myself. It's a small issue in the grand scheme of things, but Nintendo could have handled it better. I was hoping for a Western release of this game, but with this news, I wouldn't buy it even if it did come out in the west. This is a real shame.

Let's not lie about it, The Guardian newspaper LOVES to kick up a fuss about pathetic and silly issues like this and pass it off as serious journalism. Anyone remember the time when they accused Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream of being racist? This is the most ridiculous, trashy, tabloid journalism, and just because it's been printed in a broadsheet newspaper it's treated as somehow noteworthy? Ignore it, I say. If anything, write to the editors of that ridiculous newspaper and mock the idiocy of its writers.

jacksayspurple commented on Talking Point: The Wii U's Identity Crisis:

To be honest I never completely understand the thinking behind calling it a 'Wii U'. Sure, brand recognition and all that business, but with the 3DS, that made sense - 3D Screen. What is the 'U' meant to stand for? I think they should have come up with something a little more original than just trying to piggyback on the Wii's success... I really think that would have helped people realize it's a whole new console, not just an addition to the Wii.

jacksayspurple commented on Talking Point: The Next-Gen Console War is Wii...:

I'm a huge Nintendo fan and I have been ever since I was a kid. Xbox and Playstation have never really interested me that much, but I agree with the article; until the Wii U gets a price cut, consumers just won't go out to buy it. Even as a Nintendo fan, I won't buy a console which costs me £300. I think Nintendo have made it far too expensive for today's consumers. Also, I think another problem with the Wii U is that the innovation of it isn't quite so exciting as the innovation that the Wii presented when it first arrived. When people first saw the Wii Remote we all thought of being able to sword fight, swing a tennis racket, swirl a lightsaber, and use our bodies to play games like people in science fiction moves did. Now, arguably the Wii didn't live up to that initial expectation, but the motion control innovation got people thinking and imagining. The low price was one thing, but it was the way the the Wii made people think that sealed the deal. I can understand Nintendo's comments that the audience doesn't understand the Wii U properly, but until we start seeing more games that use the GamePad as more than a map screen, then people won't understand what the Wii U can offer.
That said, if Nextbox and PS4 are priced way higher than the Wii U, I can see this generation being one where no one's a winner.

jacksayspurple commented on The Pokémon Company Describes 2013 as a "Key ...:

I cannot wait for X and Y! A lot of people are complaining because there'll be over 700 Pokemon to catch and all that jazz, but I couldn't be more excited! For me, the best part of Pokemon isn't the battles, I just love collecting every single one! I'm currently trying to complete my Pokedex on White 2! I would love it if X and Y had the capacity to allow you to be able to catch every single Pokemon ever from within the game, so you wouldn't have to Poke-Transfer and whatnot!

jacksayspurple commented on Shigeru Miyamoto: People Need To Be Patient Wi...:

If you have a bad show in the theatre, it's considered a feeble excuse to blame the audience, yet with the Wii U Nintendo and retailers seem to be doing just that. Waiting for the audience to 'get it' won't sell the Wii U. Nintendo and the retailers need to MAKE the audience 'get it' with more demo units, adverts, and opportunities for the public to get their hands on the console and play for themselves.
