i-am-error commented on Remake Request: Super Metroid 3D on Nintendo 3DS:

I pretty strongly disagree that this would be either an 'easy' or a good idea.
Updating super metroid (or most any 2d game really) to support 3d visuals would require extensive retooling, to the point where it might be better to start from scratch.
Translating a 3d polygon game to 3ds (and in 3d) wouldn't be too bad, but making 2d sprite based stuffs into viable 3d isn't as easy as just separating the background from the foreground from the characters/enemies/items... There is a TON more work involved... Read up on some of the sega m2 blogs on their 3d ports for more info about these hurdles. Creating a 3d 3ds port of this game would require a fairly significant investment of dev talent and time.
With that said, I'd be much happier to play my super metroid cart on my snes and have ninty put their talented devs working on an all new metroid.

quite sure the odds won't be in my favor... but regardless, this is a REALLY awesome give-away NintendoLifers! thanks for the opportunity to throw my hat in the ring and also for creating/maintaining a site that i visit daily (with or without the chance to get my hands on some super-fine-schwag)

i-am-error commented on Soapbox: 'Vintage' Used Game Prices Do Nothing...:

while i don't agree with the term 'vintage' being applied... i really don't understand what all the hub-bub is about.
when Xenoblade and Metroid Prime Trilogy were released, Nintendo made it pretty clear that these were both games that were going to get limited runs. Naturally, I took Nintendo at the their word and pre-ordered both titles. I am psyched that two of my favorite Wii games are also already collectors items that demand a higher price.
I am at a complete loss as to why the perceived value of these games has gamers that didn't heed the warnings about limited production runs up in arms (other than the fact that they've now got to shell out more $$ for them)
instead of crying about this, just go and pick up games like Madworld or A Boy and his Blob (both insanely fun!!) which can be found for under $5 at these same used game retailers that are charging the going rates for more difficult to locate titles
