@SpaceApe It is something to consider, but those thirty somethings were all kids playing Nintendo games at one point in their lives. And as every gamer grows older, new gamers are born (at least in theory). Nintendo doesn't need to start stressing more mature games.
This guy sure likes his proverbial bridges and testicles, but he doesn't like the blue ocean strategy. Why not? Thanks to the GameCube we all know what happens when Nintendo takes another swim in the red ocean.
I don't typically care for Nintendo hardware myself, but I love it when they dare to try something different. While many shortsighted gamers and developers choose to attack them for not adhering to "industry standards" I applaud them for it.
@AlexSora89 Yeah, for Nintendo purists this could be very good news. Human Revolution is one of my favorite games on STEAM, Deus Ex is the best Square-Enix franchise out there that isn't Dragon Quest, and since the Wii U is struggling to find favor with youngsters the M rating shouldn't be any concern. Perhaps this game will sell better on Wii U than most of us expect it will.
I've already played Deus Ex 3, but I can think of a few other old games I'd like to see on the Wii U. Maybe devs would be better off bringing these games over in digital form and selling them for a fraction of their original price the way STEAM does with two year old games. If they're going to insist on full priced physical copies of these games, I'd suggest doing so in a compilation like they did with the Metal Gear Solid Collection or the Final Fantasy Anthology.
Sony finally accepts that the PS Vita was grossly overpriced. What took them so long? I feel bad for the fans they're still taking advantage of in the rest of the world. Now they need to cut their prices in the West by half. At the very least, price match the 3DS.
After beating Warsong, I've been trying to keep up with Japanese Langrissers over the years. Looks like the series went to hell during the 32 bit era. Not looking for a reboot or anything so grand, I'm just hoping to see all the 16 bit games finally make their way over here someday.
So EA isn't selling enough units to justify its own budget and now they've decided it falls on their existing customers to make up the difference? That's some quality service there.
@SilentHunter382 I'm fine with the free to play model too. Seems EA wants it both ways. Maybe they'll start charging a monthly fee on top of their micro transactions after this. Gotta make that money.
There is no concrete reason to buy a PS4 at this time. But Nintendo could give us some more reasons to buy a Wii U right now too. They need to get more games out there that show off what the Wii U can do. (Yes, I'm aware it's only been out for 3 months and I'll have to be patient.)
Even the best of video game stories never amount to much more than a bad movie experience. Whether or not the game itself is any fun to play is what ultimately matters. It is a game after all. Of course if you've created a boring game, loading it with cut scenes to distract the players couldn't hurt.
I played the ugly original but I stopped playing it as soon as something looked boring and tiresome. The 3DS version sounds like they've tried hard to rework nearly everything I didn't like about the original. I'm getting pretty psyched for this remake.
With Game Boy Advance games coming to the Wii U Virtual Console and Fire Emblem's new popularity, it might be the right time to finally bring Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals over to North America.
EA is a joke. You guys should see the garbage EA spews out about STEAM on a regular basis.
@Captain_Balko EA has indeed always been a terrible company. They're known for buying up smaller talented companies and running them into the ground. They also have a love affair with DRM that could rival Sony. Add that to shady releases like FIFA 13 and it's no wonder why there's so much disgust for EA among gamers.
@AceSpadeS You shouldn't lay all the blame on Capcom and let Sony off that easy. It's a good point that Capcom made the choice to use Sony's DRM, not Sony. But Capcom is using that DRM just as Sony intended and on Sony's own online service no less. Sony could have put a stop to it but instead they're encouraging developers to do exactly what Capcom has done.
I doubt that Sony would have bothered compromising themselves over a patent like this if they weren't serious about a way to circumvent the used games market. What Sony wants is bad for retailers and more importantly gamers. Sony won't be content until they have a stranglehold on everything you buy. Lucky for us nothing they make is very exciting.
@AceSpadeS Sony's patent is giving you a little glimpse into their future. You want to support that? DRM doesn't stop piracy, what it does is make shareholders feel more secure about their investments and it hamstrings us poor suckers who buy games legally.
It doesn't matter how popular Valve is, the gamers are there for the big sales. Without the sales, Steam wouldn't being doing any better than say, Impulse Driven. Even Valve has admitted as much.
Capcom says it's Sony's DRM. I don't see any reason not to believe them. And I haven't needed a constant internet connection to play any of my games from the eShop so far.
@AceSpadeS No one celebrates the Steam service for being DRM, they tolerate Steam for having 75% off sales and the ability to buy AAA titles for less than $10. One of the unwritten rules is to never purchase a game through Steam with third party DRM attached, such a Sony's SecuROM. It's just not worth the harassment. PSN is another place where Sony shines. And it's hard to imagine any gamer who'd be fanboy enough to agree with Sony's used games patent. You're right that Sony isn't responsible for creating all DRM, just some of the worst of it.
