@Ralek85

The Halo Collection is a little different because even with Halo 3 and 4 in there, 3 is already close to 7 years old and 4 adds value to an already nice collection. To me if Sony really wants to 'welcome back' people who skipped PS3, I'd say an Uncharted Collection with all 3 games remastered would be a better way of doing that. Much more value there and the third Uncharted came out in 2011 so while recent it's not like it was just one summer ago either.

Gamer83 commented on Sony: PS4 Is "Welcoming Back" Wii Owners Who S...:

I honestly believe the people in charge of the PlayStation Division have completely lost their damn minds. First you have this clown Yoshida constantly kissing Nintendo's a$$ (which is fine if he likes Nintendo but you work for Sony, how about providing people who bought your console games rather than constantly praising the competition?), saying he doesn't understand people who want to play AAA games on their $400 machine rather than indies and remakes and you have Andrew House and others saying Xbox 360 owners, and now apparently Wii owners, are coming back to PS? Unless they want to show their research that proves these statements (and they won't show it) than I look at this as nothing more than justify the constant remakes because there is nothing else. Nintendo's entire first year of Wii U pissed me off as well but at least Nintendo didn't bs the hell out of people, Iwata admitted that it was tougher to make the transition to HD than the company anticipated. Still a weak excuse if you ask me because after 2010 the Wii had nothing worth of note from first parties besides Skyward Sword, but at least it seems a legit reason. Right now though, the only company with a guy in charge that I have respect for and that I think is doing a good job, is MS, which made a brilliant decision putting Phil Spencer in charge. Ironically I have the PS4 and the U, not the X1. That's going to have to be fixed soon because the X1, at least for what I like, seems to have the most on the way from now until 2015 ends. It's a good thing for Sony that third parties seem to be putting their best efforts into PS4 versions of games right now. That will change at some point though, just like things eventually evened out with X360 and PS3, and once that advantage is gone, Sony better have its first party act together. No more 'remasters' not more main focus on indies. Those can still be released but they can not continue to be positioned as THE reason to buy the console.

@JosieC84

I'm 31, I've been gaming for a while and grew up on Nintendo consoles, I also know plenty about the company's history. That doesn't change what I stated. The majority of PS4 sucks comments, that I've seen, come from the Nintendo fanboys, a few come from the MS crowd. Fans on all sides are equally close minded dbags. The last time I remember things being tolerable was the 8-bit era and honestly I was too young to really make a call on how bad things were then, but I imagine not bad since NES was really the only game in town. The 16-bit era it was a friendly rivalry, my friends and I all had our preferences but we could play games on SNES, Genesis, even TG16 and be happy as long as the game was good. Things got bad around the 32-bit era. Nintendo fans are pissed Sony came in and stomped all over their turf and still haven't gotten over the butthurt even though Wii outsold the PS3 easily last generation. It is absolutely pathetic. And so no mistake is made here, I think it is equally pathetic when the Sony and MS slaves say Nintendo provide nothing but kiddie games. All 3 groups are a joke, none is better than the other and the gaming industry would be better off if they'd all learn to shut up and just enjoy what they have. But that will never happen. People would rather argue over nonsense.

Well, first of all, I'm about as far from an Xbox fanboy as you'll find, but that's besides the point. If MS has been willing to stick it out this long, I'm not going to count on it disappearing any time soon. It could leave and if it does, well sucks for me because I believe in the theory that the more competition the better and I'm not as big a fan of what Nintendo provides these days as I used to be, but I won't lose sleep over it. Just saying I wouldn't be counting on MS to go away. Also, it's an unfair generalization to say all Xbox has is 'violent' games, but I'm not going to get into that because here at NLife, if it isn't Nintendo it's trash.

@Gamecubii-64DD

MS has a boatload of money, has shown the willingness to spend it this gen, just turned the division over to a guy in Phil Spencer who has an actual passion for the industry and the CEO of the company just came out and said MS is fully behind the Xbox line... so good luck with seeing it go away. I know a lot of people here would love to see Sony and MS both disappear. You may get your wish on Sony, MS is in it for the long haul. If it didn't quit after the original Xbox, it sure won't now.

Aside from 3DS... horrible. And if Mario Kart 8 can't get Wii U selling into the 25K-30K range consistently what will? And Sony can forget about it in regards to PS4, it's a Western-focused console with minimal games over the next year, maybe longer for that audience. Sony would be better off, if it has the money, to consider going toe-to-toe with MS in China than focusing on Japan because clearly it isn't going to sell there. And in regards to MS, the Xbox One pre-orders have actually been really good in Japan, and I expect a nice debut, but like PS4, with a Western-heavy lineup what happens after that? I'd like to think things turn around there but man, the console market seems pretty much dead in Japan.

@rjejr
For what it's worth, pre-order numbers for Xbox One have been great in Japan. What that means in the long term, who knows, but all we have to go on right now is pre-orders and the news has been very positive.

Yup, it's as simple as that really. Don't like it, don't download. It's free, it's easily avoidable but as usual 'gamers' would rather p*ss and moan about insignificant stuff while not paying any attention at all to actual problems within the game industry.

Unfortunately it can be said across the board to 'wait for 2015.' There are some games I'm looking forward to this fall though... Obviously on Wii U it's Smash Bros. and Bayonetta. Destiny, LBP 3, CoD Advanced Warfare, AC Unity and Far Cry 4 for PS4 and if I had an X1 Sunset Overdrive and The Master Chief Collection would be definite buys.

So far the only thing we have to go on is a quote from Kojima: MGS 5 will be out 'when a lot of PS4s are in homes.' Don't know what he considers 'a lot' but I think at this point PS4 is likely ahead of or close to surpassing where PS3 was when MGS 4 came out so, I'm hoping 2015, but there's no official date.

Ubisoft actually tried, it didn't get the sales. So I can't blame them. But I'm not sure I 100% buy the userbase argument. Yes, the userbase is low, yes it's a factor, but if the games like say AC IV and Splinter Cell Blacklist were pulling in 1.5-2 mil would Ubi be giving up the ship? I think Blacklist did like a pathetic 10K sales in its first month or two and I'm sure it didn't grow much after that so it makes the choice easy. It's too bad third party games perform so pitifully on Nintendo consoles.

I can understand the frustration with delays though. I was really looking forward to Batman: Arkham Knight, which WB even just a week or two ago said was coming out this year, then they pull the rug out from under you. I won't say 'I'm not buying the game,' but I'd be lying if I said it's not annoying. Just don't put a damn date on it if you're not sure when it will come out.

I wonder if the timing of the release means no AC at all on Wii U this year. It'd seems strange considering it got 3 and 4 but if sales for the Wii U versions of both were pitiful then I guess I could see Ubi sticking Watch_Dogs in there instead.

I think that's a bit of an unfair generalization but regardless, that 160 mil userbase is obviously too big for WB to ignore. At least in regards to a 2D fighter. I still think this game would've come to Wii U also, had Injustice done better on the console, but that was partly NetherRealm's own doing. The Wii U version didn't get near the support of the others.

@Rafie

Yeah, I meant NA. Although Sony only barely beat MS worldwide and it took until the last year or just before the last year of the generation.

Anyway, I'm actually more of a PlayStation gamer, and I have inFamous: Second Son and Mario Kart 8 and I have no problem saying the latter is not just a better game, it's a much, much better game. Second Son is a very good game but was also a disappointment in how short it was and how little interactivity there is with the open world. It also felt very barren compared to something like Watch Dogs or GTA, which have living, breathing cities.

Mario Kart 8, on the other hand, is the current best racer of this gen and one of the best racers on the market, period.

@Peach64

June NPD will be interesting. With Mario Kart 8 having been on the market for a month and with the $400 Xbox One releasing at the start of the month, Sony may find itself back in third place in North America - where it spent the entirety of last gen- especially if a good number of strong PS4 exclusives aren't shown at E3. And I'm not talking indie games.

@MEGAMAN_D

Honestly if somebody wants third party games going forward, I'd say just get a PS4 or Xbox One. In most cases the game will have more effort put into it on those consoles and in some cases, a game will just skip Wii U entirely. It's unfortunate for those who want to only stick to one console but there's only two options these days. Either stick with Nintendo knowing all you'll get are Nintendo games and the odd third party release or get one of the other consoles to sit next to the Wii U.

Unless MS has offered up a whole crapton of cash to get this exclusive to the Xbox brand I really see no reason in keeping the platforms secret at this point. Gamer83 commented on Research Firm IDC Anticipates Worldwide Wii U ...:

@Pj1

What Wii U needed was better advertising and a better year-one lineup. It ended strong with Super Mario 3D World, which is easily better than any of the garbage currently on Sony's or MS' console, but it was too little too late. In addition to poor advertising, the system wasn't explained properly, third party support still isn't there and it's a console that's a bit more expensive that past Nintendo ones, which I do think had an impact. Throughout 2013 the question was why buy a Wii U for $350 or $300 when you could get a PS3 or Xbox 360 for a similar, or lower price, with much better libraries, still more new games on the way from third parties and graphics that aren't too far behind Wii U? If Nintendo was going to charge what it did, it needed to also have better hardware in its machine and it should've been trying to lock up at least timed exclusives on some big third party franchises that are proven sellers and there needed to be more first party games. 3DS is Nintendo's bread and butter but I look at the year it had and can only imagine how much better Wii U would've looked had it been the system getting Fire Emblem Awakening and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon instead. After the rough start, Nintendo did everything it could to make 3DS a success. With the Wii U, it waited too long to react and now, barring some majory unforeseen events, it looks like it's too late to turn things around. The PS4 has already eclipsed the Wii U in sales and the Xbox One is outpacing Wii U and neither of those consoles have anything close to a good library yet. It's interesting times for Nintendo. I think Wii U will probably be a distant third by the time we hit 2016 and with it hitting the 4-year mark that November, Nintendo will probably be ready to start talking about its next system. But, while it's more than likely too late for Wii U to comeback and 'win' this gen. It can still be successful. Nintendo needs to get to work now though.

Unless you love mediocre indie games or year-late ports PS4 is utterly useless right now and that's from a big PlayStation guy who bought a PS4 day one. The lineup for 2014 is a complete and total joke. Xbox One isn't much better. Obviously things will improve but at this rate it won't be until 2016 when either the PS4 or Xbox One are worth owning. I'd have no problem recommending @sketchturner or anybody else interested in all the new systems to get a Wii U this year, particularly that Mario Kart 8 bundle and wait for the other two consoles to actually start getting games worth something.

Lets hope so, I'm not sure it'll take it up to PS4 or Xbox One numbers but if it can get Wii U moving in the 150K to 200K/month range consistently, it'll at least put the Wii U in a much better situation.

@VincentV
Games are what matters though, unfortunately I feel it's the gamers who have lost touch, but they're the ones who matter because they do by stuff. I can say as a PlayStation guy, I have never been so absolutely disgusted with a system's first year as I am with PS4's, aside from inFamous it's nothing but year-old games, 10 bad indie games to every rare indie gem and disappointments like Killzone and, soon, DriveClub. The Wii U has more upcoming games to be excited about than PortStation4 or X1 combined let alone if you separate each console. Sadly, because the games aren't all about story, blood, sex and blowing stuff up, the Wii U isn't deemed 'cool' while a console with absolutely NOTHING is flying off the shelves. I hate the thinking of today's gamer, they are taking this industry in a bad direction.

How utterly stupid. A company that has no money spending more of it. What Capcom should be doing with all its games right now is signing deals like it did with MS for Dead Rising 3. Sucks for people who own a certain console and want to play a certain game but at this point Capcom has f'ed itself so bad that that is what it needs to be doing. Not spending money it doesn't have on new R&D buildings. Reminds me of Sony spending money it doesn't have on useless stuff like VR. If you're going to run your company into the ground at least do it chasing something that makes sense.

@LetsGoRetro

It's a shame that what excites people these days is crappy online multiplayer shooters. Nintendo isn't the problem, it's idiot consumers who buy broken trash like Battlefield 4 or drop $60 for an online only game like Titanfall. Now, I actually agree Nintendo has dropped the ball in a lot of ways with Wii U. With the exception of Virtual Boy, I've purchased every Nintendo system as soon as I possibly could, except Wii U. It took a sale at Target and finally some decent looking games on the horizon to get me to jump, and frankly if Xbox One wasn't $500, I probably would've got that system to sit alongside the PS4 first. But, not all of the Wii U's problems are Nintendo's own fault. The company is out of touch in some ways, in others, the problem is simply that 'gamers' are idiots.

By the way, not trying to be a Nintendo apologist here. I'm more of a PlayStation fan, but I feel like there's no middle ground when it comes to the way people react about Nintendo. You have the hardcore fans who just eat up whatever, then you have the people who act like the company is a complete disaster when that is also just as far from the truth. I'd love to see Nintendo branch out a bit, give Retro a stab at making a new IP, maybe snatch up some other Western studios to provide some WRPGs or whatever. Unfortunately that won't happen under Iwata. Of course, it's also difficult to say ousting him would be the right choice because the next guy could come in and appease the stock holders by going straight down the mobile route. That's the last thing the game industry needs.

@Yoshis_VGM

I'd bet money all three of those games release this year, before Smash, they're not really system sellers though and that seems to be the issue people have here, they feel Smash could've been a system seller, now that is put a little bit into doubt. If I'm being 100% honest, I thought ever since it was known there would be a 3DS version, that hurt sales potential for the Wii U version so this doesn't phase me too much. The best strategy probably would've been to make two separate entries and stagger the releases like Nintendo has done with Mario Kart. Might not have had the resources though.
