eShop quality is way way down and retail carts are becoming few and far between or delayed by months. The 3DS is lacking momentum. My local game shop said that the spotty release dates of quality retail carts has hurt sales. Was looking foward to Animal crossing and Luigi but date slipped from the original.

Even the mobile phone version has the open city free roam, as its missing from here so are the chances of me parting with any money for it.

Pricing.... Cut the rope on Google Play is 62p, on IOS it 69p on the 3DS its £4.50 that in a a complete rip off, that over a 600% increase in price. Either Nintendo charge to much to enable companies to sell via the eShop or they dont think there is any competition and can charge what they like. This is what you get for £5 on android (and most games like this are not that expensive) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Phosphor.Horn.Paid now compare

I really dispair at the eShop, they should be looking to expand. Full digital 3D movies, cheaper games, more original titles, competitive pricing. VC games are all well and good, but a lot of people have already experienced these games and want somthing that takes advantage of the shiny new hardware they purchased. When they do release something worth having the price is to high. Dont even get me started on the layout of the eShop, sometimes its guesswork to find out where a title is that you want. The whole eShop needs a re-think and some-one with a different attitude to look at the whole thing afresh.

Personally if I were in charge of the launch I would sell them at a discounted price from the eventual price for a limited time, probably match the retail box copy price. If you get people talking positive about it combined with them actually buying it, people may not think twice when you do sell at a higher price in future. The sales term is "Lost leaders", they could have had masses of positive publicity, from what I have read they are getting more people in the news comment on the high price...

Not saying digital distribution is bad, people are saying its priced wrong, it shouldnt be 33% more expensive than the retail boxed copy..
Found this article re purchasing digital download cards from retailers....

The fact is no-one except Game sells it for full price, the average price for the game as far as I can see online is £29.99 if you think you should pay £10 extra for a digital download then you have far to much money. Supermarkets will be selling it for £29.99 - £34.99 of the ones I asked in today.
Nintendo make money on boxed sales, they do not take the whole profit from the sale of the game, the shop and the distributer take a cut. Nintendo could sell it for £29.99 and still make more money on the sale than the box copy would make them, coupled with the fact that the digital copy has no manufacturing costs (paper manual and plastic box) they would take an even bigger cut of the profit as they have effectivly cut out all the middle men.
I would bet that after the initial burst of people downloading the game for the novelty factor, these games will go down in price in the eshop.

Why wait for GBA games first ? I would like some DS ones to be released, I am not to bothered about the GBA ones. Release both GBA and DS at the same time, maximize the choice and you will draw people to the eshop. Make them wait and you could lose potential interest. The only thing is not to charge full price as Nintendo seems to want to do.

Not sure why I would pay nearly £1 for a freely available 30second cartoon. The game trailers are just as long and they are free.

Having played this, circle pad+ support would have made it easier to play with comfort as you are not left with having to use the stand or have the console hanging in space getting aches in your hand. I would have preferred the option to use the two circle pads. the stand is a good idea, but hardly useful for gaming on the go.
Graphics, gameplay and sound are top notch, use of the 3D effects are also well done. Love the humour and references to itself as a game. This has to be one of the best games on the system and proving once again Nintendo know how to make good games for they own hardware.

Looks like a good game, nice review. I have an issue justifying £9 for the download, the £ to $ exchange rate makes it look like the UK are getting a rough deal. $9.99 is about £6.50, at that price I think its about right.

Funem commented on Review: 3DS Circle Pad Pro:
My Resident Evil came bundled with this on pre-order for £29.99 so in my eyes the circle pad came with it for free.
I tried the game with and without the extra pad and it playes much better with it.
There is the issue of the blocking of the cart and sylus access, else I would leave mine attached. The other downside is that if you have an extra case or shell over the 3DS then you have to keep removing the bottom half of the shell as its a very snug fit into the unit.

Funem commented on Hero of Sparta:
For the DS the graphics are fine but lacking the polish of the iPone version. It plays very on the rails... you can jump but only when the game requires you to so its hard to kill yourself by jumping the wrong way, because of this its not really an exploration type game which was it is to a certain extent on the standard mobile version. I paid the 800 points for it and as DSi games go, I am happy enough with it, but like with a lot of Gameloft games, there is just something missing to make it a great game. Using the rating system here I would give it a 7/10.. Oh yes its just over £1 for the iPhone version £5 for the android £4 for the PSP and £3 for the standard mobile version.. by my calculations its £7 for the DSi version. Not a staggering amount for a game but why the dearest, Nintendo distribution overheads ?
