@God, Nintendo, Stock Market. Amen.

@Jukilum Yes, but their other departments sometimes do even worse. More stuff means more liability and they are not worth more than Nintendo because of losses and liabilities across the Board, as compared to Nintendo who has a consolidated more restrained business.

@Haywired Personally I love that image and think it is brilliant. It is there to makes a point so yes it is not objective and it does not have mario kart which does look more similar for example. But the point is that they do constantly shake things around.
I am still not convinced. Things like Call of Duty did appear on the Wii, so I would not list that on the Gamecube side, but I will take your word on that.

FIFA from the 90's looks exactly like today with better resolution. That's it. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's one format. Metroid, Super Mario, Zelda, even Star Fox, obviously Kirby, obviously Donkey Kong, just about every Nintendo franchise, even Pokemon with all the spinoffs, showed a lot of different stuff. I guess in the end Uncharted did too with that card game but the reviews bashed it. It is taking a risk. Metroid is the biggest risk taking because it really showed different concepts all together and still maintained it as a big release action game (2D platformer/exploration, FPS adventure and a 2D/3D shooter hybrid)...

I don't think it's shovelware. It's childish etc but this is actually a great sign for the whole thing.. you want companies to think "this is expensive to make... let's sell it on where most parents and children will go shopping" - it's brilliant for Nintendo - it's like the best Wii days like that - you also get SMG and Skyward and Xenoblade etc. It can all live together.

@MrWalkieTalkie In that case it's very good news, since it really seems that Ubisoft is making a unique multiplatform effort for its titles. South Park belong on Nintendo consoles - ever since that amazing 2-part Wii episode. Hopefully the new season will show some Wii U footage. Even 5 seconds will be great.

@luminalace - the rumors about Microsoft requiring that had to be true, because otherwise it would have made perfect sense to release it as a timed exclusive on Wii U before E3 and not after. I'm sure they realized that unless they were completely incompetent.

@Haywired "the GameCube had Nintendo exclusives, graphical parity with its rivals and actually pretty decent third-party support (getting most of the big multi-platform games of the gen)". I'm not too intimate with the details here, but I don't think it's true. I think it missed all the huge multiplatform titles including GTA, Kingdom Hearts, Battlefront etc. The Wii had the same problem with multiplatforms, maybe worse (I am really not sure), but also had lots of third party exclusives. I think that in time the Wii U can enjoy the best of all worlds.

As for the variety of Nintendo in its sequels:

regardless of Ubisoft's incredible stupidity here, they have been very supportive with the Wii U, and Zombi U is an amazing game. Hopefully, Rayman Legends will sell best on the Wii U where it belongs.

And reading the comments, yes, the Move is a direct rip off of the Wii in design (controller + analog stick separately on the left) - they just did it worse, because there is no d-pad on the Move on the right (dual play). Move really sucks in every way conceivable.

"but Nintendo fans tend to forget that you’re just doing your job" - the question came out like MSNBC interviewing Obama. Should have been more aggressive and ask tough questions in my humble opinion.

For example: "With all due respect, Mr. Pachter. You have had a terrible track record over years. Many of the predictions that you proudly and boldly made turned out to be completely false. Why do you feel that the industry should take what you say seriously?"

Well i'm in the majority in the first two (maps/inventories [oops just saw that most people voted for off tv play, which is what I figured people would say, but the maps thing is even better in my opinion) and can't specify least favorite feature) but I voted "revolution" because I had the same "wow" experience I had with the Wii with Zombi U and Arkahm City. I can't even imagine how I could play Arkham City on another console without the map and gadgets on the go like that, and I did play Arkham Asylum. Amazing.

e6666 commented on LucasArts Shut Down By Disney:

I can understand that people say LucasArts is already dead, and it's the people that count, not the company's name.

But brand name is important and should have been important for Disney. Seeing that logo jumping and dancing around in every game was pure joy. I was more happy to buy the remaked Monkey Island 2 than any TellTale on brand name alone. LucasArts was one of my favorite developers. Of course like Sierra, Westwood, Bullfrog etc, sometime they come to an end. But LucasArts was a juggernaut, a definer of videogames. After Sierra, they practically invented adventure games. I loved them and I loved Rebel Assault, Tie Fighter, Dark Forces and so many more.

I hope they don't take down the VC games. Haven't played them yet but I don't see why they would.

All companies, videogames or not, should take a good look at LucasArts and if it has fallen, say to themselves : "there but for the grace of God, goes I", because this fall from grace is substantial.
