First off, Final Fight1 SNES sucked, it had no co-op play, censored characters (Sodom changed to Katana), missing Guy. A single player beat-em-up is generally doomed to suck. Rival Turf is not a great game, nor a bad game I would call it an average beat-em-up. It has co-op, some interesting looking levels. But I do like Rival Turf better than SNES FF1. Best beat-em-up I ever played was Streets of Rage 2 for the Sega Genesis.

Game is not a snoozer, I would give it a solid 9/10. With the SS games you have to go in with an open mind on the way they play. If you are expecting to kick spamming special moves like SF2, you will probably lose a lot.

This is a good game, although I enjoyed SS2 more. The Slash/Bust feature is kind of lame since the characters keep most of the same moves. The computer AI is very difficult, you are better off learning to play with a friend. As for the review, its spot on, two backgrounds- Ukyo and Hanzo, did they finish them? They lack detail. All the other backgrounds though are pretty cool and I like the new characters, especially Basara and Shizumaru.

This was my favorite WH game, just bc the others were called Jet and Perfect doesn not make them better. This one had the best backgrounds, music, and was more original. The games after this were solid, but were tweaked with super moves, but the presentation was inferior, IMHO

Look no further than this vid for why this MK craps all over the rest of them. The skill based and creative shortcuts and insane track design. You didn't get back into a race by spamming blue shells or POW's, you did it by cutting seconds off using shortcuts mostly with feather/mushrooms/stars with jumping.

No other MK games had this depth to it, that is why SMK crushes them all, the better you get at it, the more you realize it...

I would have to agree, this game deserves a 10/10. Easily the best racing game ever, one of the very best SNES games ever, and among the best games ever in gaming history.

Its psuedo 3D gameplay before 3D gaming really existed on anything but a PC was inventive. Its party elements along with being highly competitive and hardcore are a rare blend in any game.

Those knocking it really have not learned how to play it. Mastering this game you will see gaming perfection and incredible gaming design and balance. Buy this now!!!

DIRTY commented on Ys Book I & II:

Gameplay is actually different enough to standout and I actually like it. You have to attack at angles to be effective, unless you have good armor/weapons and are leveled up against weaker monsters. Also through most of Ys 2 you get a fire wand that uses an attack button and can even heat seek with an idol item.

Most old school Action RPG used the standard Heart/Container life system, not this game. Exp points like a real RPG.

In mnay ways this is better than the Zelda games, better presentation, music, storyline. And its a fair comparison since it was a game from 1990. Zelda had the better dungeons, level design and overall gameplay though. But Ys does have its own gameplay and has things in its gameplay and desing Zelda 3 would later copy, the underground water switch level, turning into a monster to talk to other monsters, two part game (in Zelda 3 is was Dark World/Light World), etc.

Playing it now, its still every bit as good as then and still and all time classic. The best American TG-16 ever and one of the best games ever.
