Star Fox: Assault was made by Bandai-Namco, so I'm not surprised to see it being represented. The stage looks nice. It looks like a throwback to the Sector Z stage from Smash Bros. 64. Since Assault was Krystal's second appearance, I wish she could join the fight, but I'm expecting to see just Falco and Wolf return for the Star Fox series.

Great choices; I've actually played Ocarina of Time (the 3D version) so I could get a sense how these characters would fight, such as Darunia rolling into enemies and maybe using the Megaton Hammer. I think Nabooru would've been interesting as well, but I hope to see more male characters confirmed, and I wouldn't be worried about the roster being dominated by females.

I hope this game turns out well. It definitely looks and sounds good on video and paper, but reviews are where the final decision will come for me.

Little Mac is my favorite newcomer so far. He should have been in the Super Smash Bros. series since the beginning, being the original Nintendo fighter.

With the amiibo figures, I plan on getting at least my favorites, but I may also get as many as I can afford.

My favorite character for the new games is more than likely going to be Donkey Kong. He's been one of my favorite characters throughout the series and I don't see that changing this time.

The fact that they actually hit and slide down the screen is a very nice touch and it's surprising it's taken them this long to implement it. I didn't think about this preventing incidents of late star KOs from not registering at first; that's another good idea.

While many of us agonize about the characters, I'm hopeful that the games themselves will still be a blast to play.

I'm very impressed by Kirby: Triple Deluxe's numbers. Even Mario Party: Island Tour did very well, and that's one of the weakest installments in the series. Mario Kart 8's big launch isn't surprising at all, but still nice to know.

If they were really adamant about giving us only digital game rewards, then they should have given us a bunch of eShop store credit so we could pick our own game on Wii U or 3DS. Or if not that, then more retail game choices. If Wii Party U and Pikmin 3 were choices, the Mario Kart free game promotion would allow me to get one game and the other as a Platinum reward. That's not counting more retail 3DS games they could have chosen.

But, as it is, I already have Game & Wario and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. If I didn't have one of those retail games, I would feel a bit better about this change. Getting an eShop game like NES Remix or Dillon's Rolling Western seems odd in that I'm getting a pretty inexpensive game after amassing coins redeemed from a few hundred dollars worth of games. Again, it would've been better just getting a bunch of eShop store credit and/or be provided with more retail options.

Also, I thought this comment section was going to be in the 400s, and not be double that in the 800s. Good grief, this could easily be the highest I've seen in my 3 1/2 years on NL.

I can understand how the physics between games can be a challenge. NES mario would seem pretty heavy compared to NSMBU Mario. If they add Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, there's even more differences in jumping physics right there.

It would be neat if we can create our own boss situations as well.

Wow, this is quite disappointing. The past few Platinum rewards were mediocre enough, but this takes the cake. It would even be better off having more posters. I'm shocked that there's not even a calendar! I would have gladly taken that for the first time. Oh well, all I can say is I kept my expectations in check and kept wishful hopes like a Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze soundtrack in the "wishful thinking" category.

Between these downloadable games, it's between NES Remix and Dillon's Rolling Western for me.

I voted for Light Suit Samus and NES Golf Mario easily. Very cool of Sakurai to reference a somewhat obscure Mario game like NES Open Tournament Golf like this, and it also raises some hope for Dr. Mario and Referee Mario as costumes too. I also still have absolutely no idea what the "infamous drum-playing puppet in Osaka" is. That Japanese reference just flew over my head. As someone also pointed out that day, Luigi will probably have his green version of that suit as well.

I'm glad this turned out to be a surprise rather than something completely predictable. I'll watch the trailer again later, but if Chrom isn't truly joining the battle, then that should debunk the Gematsu leak. Thanks Sakurai for surprising us!

DestinyMan commented on Poll: Which Is The Best Legend Of Zelda Game?:

I haven't played enough of the Zelda series to say with any accuracy what is the best Zelda. But of the few Zelda games I've played, so far my favorite is easily Ocarina of Time 3D followed by A Link Between Worlds. However, had I played it a lot more, Twilight Princess, my first Zelda game, could have been a strong contender for my favorite Zelda game and may still be whenever I revisit it. I should also play more of Wind Waker HD.

I think it's either Chrom, Shulk, or the Chorus Boys going by the Gematsu "leak." Chrom would be the easiest to announce, but I would want to see Marshall and the Chorus Boys out of those three because I have a hard time picturing how they would fight. Chrom and Shulk are swordsmen, but the Chorus Boys would have rhythmic moves that would be interesting to see in action, and seeing a video would do much to reduce doubt and confusion over them.

I would want to see King K. Rool, but I won't kid myself. He's almost certainly a secret character if he's playable at all.

Even though I'll be getting both games on Day One and I'm looking forward to Smash Bros. 3DS quite a bit, I believe the Wii U version will be the definitive version. Even though we know very little about it, I believe there is a treasure trove of goodies that Sakurai is hiding since the 3DS one is releasing first. Super Smash Bros. has always firmly been a home console experience, and Smash Bros. Wii U is going to be the biggest version that will get families, friends, and strangers playing together at parties, tournaments, and events. Smash Bros. Wii U will also be a meatier game than Smash Bros. 3DS, and the soundtrack is already a sign since Smash Bros. Wii U has the big My Music options from Brawl returning while Smash Bros. 3DS only has two music tracks per stage.

Still, both games are going to be a blast to play!

I really enjoy my Wii U and don't understand the hating. Even during the dry months I still found something to enjoy about the console, but since Super Mario 3D World it's been played many more times, and Donkey Kong and especially Mario Kart have helped. It will only get better from here, folks.

I thought Paper Mario was going to be the first N64 game for the Wii U VC at first, but apparently this is just for the Wii Mode. Without the Wii U perks, I'll pass. I already have it Wii and N64 anyway. I already have the 3D Classics version of Kid Icarus and already have Donkey Kong, Jr. as an ambassador. I'm not interested in the DSiWare game.

The platinum and gold awards should be just around the corner.

I have to vote for Super Smash Bros. 3DS. I would be lying to myself if I didn't. The only other 3DS game I'm interested in is Pokemon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. I haven't decided which version I would want yet. I was thinking about getting Shantae for 3DS, but when the Wii U version was announced, I think I might go for that version.

DestinyMan commented on Weirdness: The Peculiar Questions of a Typical...:

The last person sounds quite rude and silly, not realizing that Nintendo's shareholders of course are going to be concerned about the future of video games because their money depends on it for owning shares in Nintendo! That sounds like a failure at common sense economics.

I also find the cafeteria person amusing, since we would all agree workers should have a nice lunch to get through the day, but that shouldn't be the main way for Nintendo to get their developers to communicate better. Better facilities in general that would get the teams closer would do better, and that's what Nintendo is doing now. I think the Nintendo developers are getting along just fine without having to resort to pleasing each other with enticing meals.

I like the globe-trotting game idea, though, and it sounds like it would involve Miis. Tomodachi Adventure?

DestinyMan commented on Soapbox: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Lo...:

I knew I was going to get the game and enjoy it, but I still held off on getting it because I was concerned the game was going to be very complex and I wanted to prepare myself first. Thankfully, when I finally got the game a few days ago, I've learned that Tomodachi Life is extremely easy to get into. Few things in the game are set in stone, as you can change your Miis' appearances and even their personalities at any time. You can also change your island's name, which I may have to do because the island name I have now might not be pronounced properly like I wanted.

You have to do a lot of tasks with the Mii islanders, but depending on what Miis you have, the seemingly repetitive tasks could be entertaining. Time can also easily slip away when playing the game too, because you might be determined to solve as many little problems that come up as you wish. The song creator is also very cool.

So I've been loving Tomodachi Life so far and it will only get better as I add more Miis and get more Miis into better relationships. I now want the Mii voices to be in every game with Miis for now on because they add a lot of personality and put the pre-recorded Mii voices in the past to shame.

Surely Majora's Mask 3D is among these Zelda games, and for those who always whine about remakes, there would still be another new Zelda game to placate them. I think this is good news, but I hope they don't milk Zelda. Great series, don't get me wrong, but I kind of want other game series to get the spotlight as well.

I voted for Nabbit stealing Luigi. I thought he would be stealing items instead of fighters, but then that purpose would be defeated if items were turned off.

Also, with Link's Skyward Sword tunic and today's pink sweatshirt for Little Mac, the prospect for more costumes couldn't be higher.

Good on Iwata, but I don't understand Miyamoto's drop. Whether you like them or not, the man finally introduced the new IP that he teased for years. And the biggest thing of all; he finally revealed Star Fox!

I won't fret about these numbers, though. Like @shaneoh wrote, better than most politicians.

Thinking like this has been a staple of Nintendo's for years. And yet even with their light-hearted approach, they still end up being "cool" in their own way.

By the way, I've just learned from NintendoofFrance's Twitter that Miyamoto won't be going to an expo in France because of the health of his father. I really hope it's not too serious.

DestinyMan commented on Parent Trap: Amiibo Charts A Fresh Course In T...:

There are already several I would be interested in getting: Donkey Kong, Pit, Peach, Kirby, Villager, and Yoshi. Then there's the inevitable Captain Toad amiibo for Treasure Tracker. It's already making my wallet want to burst in flames, and that's not including more of the rest of the Smash Bros. roster.

Right now, my biggest concern with amiibo is still which figures will be usable in which games. Nintendo really needs to clarify on this eventually because I can see casual consumers being confused about the full range of opportunities for these things. Could I use the Donkey Kong figure in Yoshi's Woolly World or not? I don't expect to use the Pit figure in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, but I want Nintendo to say whether I can or not eventually. There should be something like a chart that gives yes or no answers to which figure is usable for which games. I think it's been confirmed that there won't be an instance of a figure only being usable in one game. If so, then that would be very interesting for figures of the third-party characters like Mega Man, Sonic, and Pac-Man. I'm also interested in how Nintendo will do the Mii amiibo. They've experimented with custom-made Mii figures by making a Miyamoto Mii prototype.

The concept of one figure being usable across multiple games is complicated, but exciting to think about anyway.

Glad to read it! I love Iwata. He's definitely not perfect, but no business leader is. One of the keys to leadership is learning from your mistakes, so we'll see how Iwata does that. There's no doubt that Nintendo's performance at E3 was a deciding factor in this. Iwata is more than a corporate president, he is a gamer at heart. I hope he returns to good success again.

I voted for DK's Storm Punch and also the fact that every single fighter will have up to 12 special moves to choose from for a customized moveset. That's huge.

My second choice is the Mii Swordfight's special moves, as my Mii will most likely be a Swordfighter and the chakram and any of the other attacks being used at the same time is a neat fact. It also shows just how much effort Sakurai and his team are putting into the Mii Fighters.

I should play Twilight Princess again sometime. I completely forgot who Agitha was when I first saw this news. TP was my first Zelda game after all and would probably be a candidate for my favorite, so I appreciate all the TP representation.

The line at my event were also shorter on Saturday than Wednesday. The Smash Bros. Wii U demo was also louder after it being pretty quiet on Wednesday, so technically the second day was the best day. We could hear the music, sound effects, and characters, so that was great.

DestinyMan commented on Feature: Braving the Queue At Nintendo's Best ...:

The Smash-Fest at Outer Loop, Louisville, Kentucky was entirely peaceful and fun, I'm happy to report. The only hiccups were that the Smash Bros. Wii U demo had a rare bug that caused it to freeze after a random match and so the Nintendo rep had to boot it up again, but after the first incident on Wednesday they were ready for it again on Saturday and it only took a minute or so.

The crowd was very small compared to the one described here, apparently. The longest the line got was from the cash registers, but typically it was confined to just one stretch in-between a DVD and Blu-ray aisle and the appliances. It never spilled over into outside, and in fact, we were able to play the two games multiple times! Mega Man and Little Mac were the most popular characters. I mainly stuck to my familiar characters of Donkey Kong, Pit, and Bowser, but I also tried Rosalina & Luma and Mega Man. I also got to play Smash Bros. 3DS a few times.

It was just too bad that we couldn't watch the matches without joining the line to play. Last year we were able to watch people play while waiting, but that wasn't the case this year. It would've been nice if the line was set up to where we could see the screen with Smash Bros. while still waiting, but I guess that wouldn't really work with some locations having hundreds of people like this one.

Assuming Nintendo will do this again and have E3 demos of four or so games like last year, then I hope Nintendo and/or Best Buy allow more than one TV and chairs.
