@gspro15198 - they'd play games from rival companies, and that's what Nintendo is (unwillingly I suppose) steering them to.
Nintendo are already profiting from Let's Plays. It's FREE ADVERTISING by the Let's Player. Taking the ad revenue is just plain greedy
Nintendo doesn't seem to understand that Let's Players are probably doing a better job of marketing than they will ever do. They are effectively steering established LPers as well as up and coming ones to LP (and thus 'market') games from rival companies in the future. And what most people here don't seem to understand is that a Let's Play takes a lot of dedication, time and effort. But please, continue to enlighten me with your uninformed comments on how it's a lazy way of profiting...
I just don't really get the big deal about why the game must be from Nintendo EAD and not a sister company. What's the point? It's a Nintendo IP either way. I highly doubt people go into this much scrutiny for the other two hardware companies.
Sometimes a radical and even divisive change in a franchise is better than it turning stale and dying slowly. In Mega Man's case it would have definitely been better than just simply cancelling one game after another.
Am I the only PS3 owner that dislikes PS+? I'm not saying it's not a good deal, cause it can be, but I want to own my games, not pay a subscription service to loan them
Even as a Wii U owner with a copy of MH Tri Ultimate, I feel that this is an extremely greedy decision by Capcom. Not everyone can update now, you know...
For those who haven't yet experience MiiVerse...it's kind of hard to explain without actually trying it out yourself, but in some ways, think of it as a social network for gamers
I think if Nintendo wanted to F-Zero and Starfox "extinct franchises", we wouldn't have gotten an F-Zero game in Nintendo Land (my 2nd favourite attraction after Metroid) and a 3DS remake for the latter. PATIENCE. I have a sneaking suspicion we'll have some E3 news for at least one of these franchises. I'm guessing it's gonna be Starfox
All this hate....because they're developing a Wii U title too? If they were developing it for PSN/Live, would anyone have piped up? I doubt it. The arrogance and hatred of some fanboys never ceases to amaze me.
And yet to build a fanbase, you need to support a system from the get go...it's not like Namco doesn't have the resources to do, say, a Wii U port of Tales of Xilia. Heck, they supported a console with an almost insignificant fanbase in Japan, why not the Wii U?
Look as much as I want the R/S/E remakes that everyone drones on about, I understand why they're releasing X and Y first. Would you want the R/S/E remakes to be outdated after a few years? Or completely compatible with the new pokemon too?
$40 after leaving it so late? The idea interests me, but again...$40 for something I use much less frequently not that I have the Wii U is stretching it
Although I disagree with the headline, this article presents some very valid points. As such, I feel compelled to present mine in order to argue from a different perspective. Let's make it clear. Working to mend things with EA might be important, but I don't feel it should be a priority. EA needs Nintendo more than the other way round, and this is demonstrated by EA's disastrous financials and the destruction of their reputation amongst gamers (although this was also due to issues beyond the EA-Nintendo feud). As for EA's IPs, the importance of these IPs will be reduced if rival companies are offering experiences in the same genre on the Wii U. For example, Nintendo can work to get Konami's PES on board for the Wii U annually like on other platforms. Same goes for Activision's CoD. I'm personally not a fan of either series, but they would help the Wii U, and force EA to reconsider if they see these franchises making money, especially in the absence of their IPs. EA have also arguably massacred the reputation of series like Mass Effect, Sim City, and Dead Space, meaning the lack of their franchises isn't as damaging as it would have been in the past.
tl;dr - EA is important for Nintendo, but NOT a priority. Plenty of other companies can take advantage of their absence, whilst EA continues to suffer financial losses and having to cope with distrust amongst gamers as a result of their negative attitude. Any attempts at reconciliation should start from EA themselves.
I don't see anything wrong with selling tablets per se, but if GAME is prioritizing this over selling 'dedicated' gaming consoles/handhelds, then you can easily see how they ended up in bankruptcy
Having an opinion is one thing, derisively laughing at it just because it doesn't fit with your "MOAR POWAR" motto is another, and smacks of fanboyism - a level of fanboyism which, imo, shouldn't be present at the top echelons of game development Is that too much to understand?
@LzQuacker...well played, a fair argument. Though I only follow the gaming industry this closely and thus can't comment much on what happens in other sectors
What an idiotic little fanboy. The fact that people like these occupy these important positions, instead of just at the bottom of some Nintendo-hating internet thread were they belong, is disturbing to say the least.
Nintendo use their own graphical engines. They certainly don't need an engine from this stuck up dude's company. Besides, with the rise of propriety engines and Unity, as well as the increased costs of developing with UE4, Rein would do well to remember that he who laughs last, laughs the hardest
Actually, a lot of ppl can't afford to pay $40-60 for games on a regular basis, which is why they wait for price drops on games and game systems. These people have every right to be gamers just like you and me. Let's not make this hobby any more elitist than it already is
Just like what I said about the Vita, the thing now will be consistency. i.e whether these sales figures will drop (obviously) but remain consistently higher than the pre-MH sales numbers, or whether they'll fall back to the same level.
Scrolls down to comments upon reading "sorry but Zelda hasn't been exciting since Ocarina" Well well, looks like there was no way I was going to react to that first...
To me, this sounds like attacking the wrong company. Ultimately, gamers have to hound the 3rd parties to make their games more accessible. I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants those games on the Wii U as much as we do, maybe even more. But the fact of the matter is, the final decision rests with those 3rd parties. No amount of pressure by Nintendo will work if there's no will on the other end, and we've already seen that some of these 3rd parties...coughEAcough....have a beef with Nintendo for the most idiotic of reasons. If they want to act like spoilt brats, they can enjoy the financial losses they've been making.
It's an NES Deluxe Set with R.O.B the Robot. Any sense of what's legally right or wrong should go out of the window here. I assume recycling incentives are there to...you know, help the environment. How about...I dunno...selling the thing to the highest bidder and donating the proceeds to an environmental organisation? Everyone's happy, catastrophe evaded. Moral of the story: you got to be able to flex the rules a bit in extraordinary situations. This is one of them.
Oh wow, calling the Wii U underpowered. We'll give you an originality award this year. It was going to Sony, but you're going to get it instead. Happy? -__-
@ mariobro4 - fair enough, but if the game will be months old by then, ppl who wanted the game might have already bought it on other systems. Also, I call bs on the 720/PS4 selling 10 million + combined in the first few months, and the Wii U not achieving that target in a year. For one, the Wii U is already halfway there. And secondly - to predict that the PS4 and 720 will both have a highly successful launch this early, and in this economy? Doubt it. Seems like EA/DICE can take risks when they want to. Double standards again
Fanboy mentality: "I'd rather Bayonetta 2 didn't exist, rather than it being an exclusive". And if you guys are surprised about how people still can't understand the situation, you over-estimate the IQ level of most gamers (as much as it pains me to say that) With that said, I'd like to see the original Bayonetta on the Wii U before the sequel comes out, even as an eShop download-only title.
So MH should never have been made for the PSP in the first place, and stuck to consoles? You know, cause of the whole dual analog stick thingy? Funnily enough, if I recall correctly, Tri was originally meant to be a PS3 game, but was shifted to the Wii due to development costs. So for a developer to not realize the folly of developing for a Vita game (which is expected to almost reach PS3 levels in terms of resources), for a much more limited audience....yeah, I'm starting to suspect he's blinded by fanboyism. He definitely wouldn't be the first
I'd definitely settle for Monster Hunter 4 localization info (for Europe too pls) and Okami HD for the Wii U (a sequel would be awesome, but that's stretching it a bit)
....and Capcom announcing that they've listened to the fans and restarted development on Mega Man Legends 3. Ok now I'm in dreamland....
Tbf, the Vita not only got a price drop, but also a wave in games, hence the increase in sales. However, the last time sales spiked, they fell back after a week or two

Oh come on, so she really liked the 360. And then she had no problem admitting that the SNES was her favourite system and that she's abandoned her 360 once she bought the Wii U. What did you expect? We're gamers first and foremost. We should have no qualms about experiencing other consoles. But I suspect some of you are being this harsh because of her gender, to be honest. People are missing the point entirely by simply stating that it's a 'reskinned' WW. And it shows that a lot of people haven't looked at even the basics of game development. The HD remake will most probably use a lot of new resources and will have taken considerable time and resources to develop by the time it is released. Taking all that into consideration, you're asking Nintendo for a reduced price, even though we all know this will still sell even if it's $60, simply because of the demand. In the interest of fairness however, I think it can be a bit lower than normal retail games at launch, but not by much. Nintendo is a business after all
But essentially, they are holding back the game which is ALREADY out in English in other regions. Now that's what I call discrimination. Want to play games on release day? Learn the language. English wasn't my first tongue either.
It's always Europe that suffers. And Nintendo wonder why it's the region they struggle most in..... The language barrier is, and has always been an obstacle.
