You really have to wonder what the numbers are for people with an 8GB console who would:
1. Actually buy stuff from the eShop
2. Go for this type of game
3. Not be okay with buying an external HDD
Because you'd have to assume that it's a negligible number, come on...for the love of Arceus

@Quorthon So what? A lot of games are conceptual ideas that have been around for a long time. The fact is that they were shown now, not during the N64 era.
If I want to use bare scraps to believe something....well you seem to be doing the same to prove the opposite. For example, the link you provided doesn't really back up it's claim that those games will be part of the Starfox game, it's only a hypothesis. The fact that Nintendo went to lengths to display them separate from Starfox would indicate that they are more than mere tech demos or a mini game from Starfox. What seems likely is that they are separate games all linked to the Starfox universe...possibly releasing before Starfox itself to build up hype for the main game. Now that last part is of course, pure speculation...but let's just say I'm not the only one going into unbacked speculation here

@Quorthon Never said they were games. Erm...wut?
Miyamoto said that they were related to the same Starfox universe but never said they're not games in their own right. It's in the interview itself

It is scheduled for 2015. Now if we want to doubt everything with a release date based on past experiences, we could do the same for a crapton of other IPs on other consoles. Until a delay is confirmed it's scheduled for 2015
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-commits-to-2015-release-date-for-star-fox/1100-6422055/

As for the other games, one is already scheduled for early 2015

@Quorthon So you can arbitrarily remove games based on your almighty power to decide what is a game and what is a tech demo, and your inside knowledge on what is and isn't coming out in 2015 despite the E3 confirmation. Nice....nah, I think those 3 games will stay on that list, thanks.

Let's get some things straight here. There is no massive shortage of games in 2015. We already know about:
Captain Toad (Europe)
Splatoon
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Zelda U
Star Fox U
Miyamoto's two projects
Mario Maker
Devil's Third

That said, yes it's a moronic decision, and we should keep contacting these companies to let them know we want this game

@Yorumi "deflecting from the problem doesn't really change the truth of the statement"

So in order to not 'deflect' from the problem, it's ok to single out a system? Cause from the rest of your comment, I'm sure you understand that this is a global problem. That is pretty much what I was trying to say. Talk about game droughts, but don't single out a single system unless it is only that system suffering from droughts, which is, as I'm sure we can all agree...not the case.

Actually it is Capcom's doing. This is a port, not a new game. Are you telling me that a port of a game that was loved on both the GC and the Wii would do badly on the Wii U, yet would do well on the other platforms?
Are you telling me that they wouldn't recoup the peanuts it would cost them to put this on Wii U? Come on now...
There is a perception problem that's running rampant and distorting reality, end of.

It is crap in YOUR OPINION, which you are entitled to, like I am entitled to the opinion that your opinion is crap. Not because you dislike this, but because of the fact that you generalize and call everyone that disagrees with you "blind followers"

@GreatPlayer
So, let me get this straight...if you don't like off-TV play, then no one else has the right to enjoy it and "hail" Nintendo for it. Same goes for any other bonuses such as this one right here with Sonic.
Yeah, just an observation right there buddy...I've seen this attitude before, mostly from fanboys for a company now laying off people left, right and centre, but I digress...
not sure whether to laugh or cry

@GreatPlayer
Lol I loved the gameplay of Sonic Lost World even without the DLC...this is just icing on the cake....really, delicious icing.

But go ahead and call us suckers for enjoying these awesome bonuses. I'm sure you play really high quality games instead of something like this chortles

I must admit, this is putting me off. The pricing (for both the base game and DLC) is still not unreasonable, I want to make that clear....I just expected to pay a set price for all the content shown in their videos, and it looks like that won't happen. Think I'll wait it out now

@JohnRedcorn
Honestly, you just want to ignore all the valid examples people are giving you on how the Gamepad can be useful, just because you believe it isn't...and try to shove that point down with ridiculous examples.
If you don't like the idea of an off-tv screen, fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But plenty of people like the idea...even if you don't personally. New stuff and innovation doesn't have to be liked by everyone, and rarely is.

@JohnRedcorn
Because EVERY game on Wii U needs to utilize the Gamepad in creative ways, right?
This is a trap that many people fall into. Should there be more games that utilize these features? Yes. But do ALL games need to utilize them? NO.

Back in the Wii era, 3 of my top games were SSBB, Xenoblade and MH Tri. None of these games utilized the controller features. But then games like Wii Sports Resort, Skyward Sword and MK Wii justified them.

Is this that hard to understand?

The PS4 being "infinitely more desirable" is extremely subjective. Personally, I'd take a dozen Wii Us and even PS3s over a system that now requires you to pay for online and has zero must have games at this point in time.

Also, if you want confirmation that he's trolling, look at the above comment, with yet more generic 'underpowered', 'no 3rd party support', etc. references.

And for the record, it does have a friend system. Shows how much you really owned the console, let alone two...

@unrandomsam
I wouldn't trust vgchartz completely, but multiple sources state that the sales were between 1.5 to 2 million, so I guess in this case, it's quite accurate.
So yes, it sold considerably less than the PS2 version, but we all know what install base the PS2 had. However, despite a far smaller install base on the GC, the title did rack up a good amount of sales. I'm sure Capcom profited quite well from the GC version

Go on. Name these superior ports that didn't sell well then. And whilst you're at it, explain to me how Rayman Legends sold as much as the 360 and PS3 version despite having a fraction of the install base, and despite the delay saga....so much for Nintendo fans being part of the problem ;)

darkgamer001 commented on Talking Point: The Watch_Dogs Wii U Delay Demo...:

It's sad how some people seem to think that we should buy hacked and gimped ports so as not to be "part of the problem".
The problem has, primarily, been the attitude of 3rd parties towards Nintendo consumers. Why should said consumers buy these games when they're being treated like second-class citizens. It makes no logical sense

darkgamer001

darkgamer001 commented on Ubisoft Refuses to Comment on Watch_Dogs Wii U...:

@gatorboi352
And yet something like Rayman Legends sold fine on Wii U, despite all the delay drama, and despite going up against the 360 and PS3 userbases (which are at around 80 million each, iirc)

Yes, the strength of Nintendo IP means that first party on Nintendo systems do well...compared to the people who buy the other two systems for 3rd party rather than exclusive

BUT, that does not mean that a good multiplat effort can't sell well. It's just that 3rd parties aren't even trying

darkgamer001

darkgamer001 commented on Ubisoft Refuses to Comment on Watch_Dogs Wii U...:

I'm sorry but some of the arguments here are ridiculous.
No...people who buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games only are not part of the problem....
Third parties treating the audience like crap, essentially making them either pay for gimped ports or...not buy the games at all and only buy the exclusives...
Now THAT is the problem

darkgamer001 commented on Nintendo Confirms Major Reductions In Sales an...:

@citizenerased
I'm pretty sure they did expect 3rd parties, as it explains the drought periods, but after the 3DS' first year, repeating that mistake was quite naive to say the least.

Unfortunately in this day and age, "reaching out to 3rd parties" involves paying them even for stuff like DLC, let alone the game itself...

Personally, I believe many 3rd parties can be a success on Nintendo platforms....but only if they start to treat the Nintendo fanbase more or less equally. Gimped ports do NOT help, they only create resentment. Even for non-gimped games, devs cannot expect to suddenly rake in money from an audience that has never been exposed to their games. It takes time and money to build that audience, and they're not really giving it a proper shot.

"Nintendo are paying the price for not bothering to make a powerful machine that could compete this gen"
For crying out loud, when are people going to get this, sry for all caps but it is necessary:
POWER WILL NOT SOLVE ANYTHING!
What part of the "audience isn't there" or "low install base" from the 3rd party excuses do you not get? Nintendo could have come out with a console twice as powerful as the PS4, and 3rd parties still would come up with excuses. Nintendo made the mistake of trusting them to fill in the first year with their games instead of 1st party, and they're paying the price.

It's funny that the Betheseda article was linked here. Let's take a look at what would have happened had Nintendo listened to Betheseda and other 3rd parties and gone with more horsepower. Pick one of the following answers:
A - "Nintendo fans only buy 1st party games"
B - "The install base is too low"
C - A silly excuse combining both of the above 'reasons'

Want more proof as to why Betheseda's hardware excuse doesn't hold any water? Where's Skyrim Wii U edition? It was a PS360 title, the Wii U would have handled it, one way or another.

If 3rd parties want to work with Nintendo....fine, brilliant even. But Nintendo has to, first and foremost....make a console with their games in mind. If 3rd parties can't understand that, they can continue pushing their day one DLC and season passes on the other platforms....cause they reeeeally have a sustainable business model there

Give me a non-butchered 3rd party game were Nintendo fans are treated equally, and chances are I'll buy it and encourage others to do so. But I will boycott anything that comes with gimped features. If 3rd parties can't understand that people will be put off if you don't treat them equally....well, maybe we're just better off without most of them.

As for EA, Nintendo sites should learn from them and do the same. Not mention them. It's not Nintendo news anymore.

It was pretty good, I actually laughed at the Mum- Triforce of Power bit. But then they used the term 'upgrade'. Why on earth are they using the term upgrade? Is "a new console" that difficult to use in an ad?

Yes, technically a new console is an upgrade to the previous one, I can see some people looking at it that way...but it just invites consumer confusion who think that it just adds something to the previous console

@Linkstrikesback

Outright proving it is difficult, but it would be quite naive to think that MS was stupid enough to try to enforce those DRM policies without very clear indications that their direct competition was going to do the same.

That's why I found all the Sony white-knighting to be ridiculous. Sony just let MS go first with the announcement....that's not being "on the gamer's side" or whatnot. That's just being cunning.

Better fire Iwata, give up on the Wii U and maybe go third party. Yup. Pure genius.
