Interpret's blog had a bit more to say about amiibo's market potential.

New entrants such as Nintendo Amiibo and Lego Fusion introduce new platforms, IP, and business models, and will provide a boost to the market. “We tested interest in an extensive list of current and potential smart toy brands and even prior to the Amiibo announcement, smart toys based on Nintendo characters were among the most desired smart toys in the US, Europe, and Brazil,” said Jason Coston, Research Manager at Interpret.

Honestly I've never been a big fan of the "official" Zelda timeline, mostly because the "failure" timeline explaining ALttP and onward is such bullcrap.

So this can easily be canon in my own made-up Zelda timeline.Untitled

@Kaze_Memaryu

Wii U can do native 1080p, Wind Waker HD & Rayman Legends are examples of that. Nintendo probably had a 1080p target for MK8 but wouldn't sacrifice the game's high visual fidelity nor it's frame-rate (the latter more so) to achieve that goal with the hardware at hand.

Microsoft would've never been able to do proper 4K gaming with XBO since that would require far more expensive graphics components than what the market would allow.

I did some research and a guy on NeoGaf claims that this little hiccup seems to be caused by a fault with computer A.I, and wouldn't happen in time trial mode or 12-player online races. And since the 'duplicate frame' happens in a repeated pattern it's pretty much a bug and not performance-based (whether or not to patch it is up to Nintendo).

Sounds like something that can be easily fixed in a patch if it ends up bothering people (which 99% of the time it won't).

And I'll happily take 59 FPS over 30 FPS in a racing game any day (looking at you Driveclub/The Crew).

@FragRed

Apparently there were a lot of executive meddling behind the scenes (DC comics setting tough restrictions on how the developers portray Superman being one of the major culprits). The lead producer behind the game claims that a huge chunk of the game was scrapped/re-done to meet the demands being put on them.

If it's coming to Wii U it won't be made official until a only a few months before release (Black Ops II was made official during the Wii U conference in New York, Nintendo confirmed Ghosts sometime in August) and will probably be ported by Treyarch, unless they've gotten rid of their Wii U team or something.

Kevin Spacey tho. <3

I tried out Oculus Rift at a local convention last week and while it's an impressive piece of tech, I feel it needs some fine tuning before they release it to the public. There's still some steps needed to be taken before VR can be fully embraced I think.

Interesting to see PS4 and Wii U having equal launch sales in Japan. PS4 has MGSV coming out in less than a month so it's going to hold a bit better in the long run.

In any case Xbox One is bound to perform far worse than either of them in that region.

"NPD analyst Liam Callahan also suggests that many download purchases can be relatively spontaneous, rather than planned ahead of time."

Digital storefronts requiring much less time and effort to locate and access than physical ones probably plays a part in that.

@Nintenjoe64

Congo Calling isn't singling Nintendo out. All they say is that Nintendo as well as other tech giants like Sony, Microsoft, Samsung etc. should follow Apple in reporting stuff like this and not purchase minerals from conflict-ridden areas where the profits could potentially fund warfare.

And most gamers don't know/care about issues like this so the Nintendo "hate" has no root in this (otherwise they'd call out Sony, Microsoft and other tech giants as well).
