I'm a Nintendo gamer since 1998 and a lover of all things Zelda. Interested in game coding but not so interested to do it. :) I enjoy playing all sorts of games on all sorts of platforms, I may not be good at all of them but I give it my best shot.

Chris720 commented on Ubisoft Clarifies Reasoning For The Crew Skipp...:

Problem with the "current-gen" of consoles is they aren't wildly more powerful than their predecessors, except for the Wii U ofcourse. I'm in no hurry to upgrade, my 360 is giving me enough enjoyment and my PC is powerful enough to deal with nearly every new release.

And I think developers are realizing this, PS4 is definitely doing very well, but the One and Wii U are doing very poorly. Therefore cut support for the PS3, but support the 360 as it still has a huge install base. No point supporting the Wii U as it's still classified as that little kiddies toy in the corner, even though it's not.

No need for me as I can play it free on my phone. But if you don't have either a phone or tablet, and to be honest I think most of us do, get this. Definitely a fun little game once you get the knack of it, which I haven't.

Chris720 commented on E3 2014: Zelda Wii U Looks So Great You Really...:

@Kirk Uhm, in that case Skyward Sword was also backwards. Ninty tried a new look after Wind Walker with TV and then they went back to the WW-esque style in St and again with this one.

I don't understand why having a grittier and darker look is such a bad thing for Zelda. Yeah sure it's suppose to be light hearted, but having some dark undertones makes it more interesting and I felt To captured that quite well.

@sdcazares1980 Agreed. Even Sony took the best route and left the Move out of it and left it as an optional extra for everyone. Microsoft have given up and U-turned so many times with the One it's getting ridiculous.

At least Nintendo can ride the gimmick train and get away with it, but not this time.

@JGer Okay, you're right there... it sounded better in my head. But it's the only thing that separates itself from Playstation and Xbox, that's what I was trying to get at.

@sdcazares1980 Yeah, that's what I meant. The early adopters have practically been left with a bulky plastic box that has now more or less become redundant.

@sdcazares1980 That's the problem, they drop the Gamepad now it will splinter the userbase, like the Kinect will do. They'll have this large lump of plastic that will become redundant because no one will use it. Why? Because who wants to target a margin of the userbase, when they can target everyone?

The upside to this is, more people will buy the Wii U because, hey, cheaper, no gimmicks, free online, Nintendo games, HD. Done.

Will getting rid of the Gamepad help the Wii U? Well... no. That is its main selling point, beyond that it's just a Playstation or Xbox.

But should they actually ditch it? We've found gimmicks really don't stick in the gaming community, the 3DS worked really well, now hardly anyone I know uses 3D anymore. Everyone has lost interest in Kinect, even Microsoft. Playstations Move still isn't a big thing and they left it as that, an additional bit to put on.

And that's all the Gamepad really is, a massive gimmick. Beyond a massive slab of a screen in the middle, it's just any normal controller that hardly any dev uses properly anyway... I see no point keeping it, but if they get rid of it, its just like any other console.

@rylo151 That would still be around 100-250MB... I think? Which isn't all that bad, but I still wouldn't advise it really... Downloading games will of course kill your data pretty quickly considering most games on the 3DS are at least 500MB onwards, not to mention the download speeds on 3G would be horrendous anyway.

Chris720 commented on App Supporting 3DS Tethering With Mobile Confi...:

I'm sorry, but this will just eat through your data like a monster with a bottomless pit for a stomach. The constant upload and download from the 3DS while playing games will gobble through a GB of data easy.

The only network I could see this working on is EE/Orange with unlimited Data, which is still capped to about 50GB or something, with a 4G network which is only in the major cities in the UK at the moment.

This is a horrible idea.

Chris720 commented on Review: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Wii U):

@MussakkuLaden Surely they can't have any entire company developing one game, that's just idiotic. If that is the case, good grief, how far, Treyarch have fallen.

I personally found the swinging on Wii kind of fun having to flick your wrist to launch a web... Thinking about it now after all these years... Maybe it was kind of awful, but it felt fun at the time.

Chris720 commented on Review: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Wii U):

Why didn't they rope Treyarch back in to do the Amazing Spiderman games? They did the original three perfectly. Sure, the first one was just mediocre missions, but they really stepped up their game with 2 with an open world to swing around and missions you could jump straight into. 3 was also a really good game, especially the swinging on the Wii version, that was proper fun.

Chris720 commented on Nintendo Looking To "Harvest" 3DS Success To A...:

If they don't sort it out now the Wii U is going to be dead and buried before long. Hopefully MK8 and SSB will help it out but I really don't see it making much of an impact... They should have tried to push MK8 out as quickly as possible, after all that is usually their saving grace. It definitely was with the 3DS anyway.

Hopefully the 3DS can push the Wii U up a bit and build some kind of momentum... If they don't do it this year or next, I think it's safe to say the Wii U is gone.

Chris720 commented on Cult County Kickstarter Ends Without Success, ...:

Not surprised, not many people like backing a small indie developer with a request for half a million dollars... Maybe they should just contact Nintendo and see if they can have it be exclusive for the Wii U and 3DS.

They could easily make it like how MH3U works, play one version on the Wii U, move your data over to the 3DS version and continue play where you left off.

Or have two completely different versions to target different audiences, 3DS version could be more run and gun for the younger ones and the Wii U could be more horror intensified.

They have plenty of options at their disposal. But I think they were being bit naive asking for $580,000... that's just crazy.

"Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes Comes To Wii U But Not Wii"

Who gives a damn about the Wii any more? That thing needs to be put to bed already, its outdated and has been replaced, why that is even in the title is beyond me.

But on the bright side, the Wii U finally has another game... took long enough.

Meh, I can just play Chess.com on my phone via their app. It looks a lot nicer, play online or via the computer and it even has lessons to teach you basic or advanced move sets. This holds no interest for me.

Maybe they're hoping those who buy the 3DS version will want to buy the Wii U version? I don't really understand this, wouldn't it be better to release both at the same time? What advantage does this give to the Wii U, because I see no advantage to this...

@theadrock13 It's so true. Nintendo has the best games on the market right now, and they'll never go out of fashion. They could quite literally kick Sony and Microsoft out of the ballpark if they threw out a high end console for the power crazed developers out there, the "hardcore" nerds would ditch Sony and Microsoft quicker than a bag of weed cornered by the police.

Nintendo just need to get their fingers out and just go in swinging until they're the only one in the room. But knowing Nintendo, or at least Iwata, this isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Nobody would care what the cost of the console is, if it's high powered, has ultra HD Mario and plays everybody's Call of Doody, everyone will be flocking.

Chris720 commented on Hacking Group Claims To Have Discovered Wii U ...:

@theadrock13 I think becoming the central media hub of your living room is a very difficult thing for Nintendo to do. They've always been known to make games and that's all they're really good at.

If they want to branch into multimedia for their consoles, they really need to step up their a game and bring about some sort of cloud service for starters. Not to mention a more powerful console to bring up apps far quicker. But why bother with Nintendo when Sony and Microsoft already have all of this up and running right now.

I think Nintendo has been dragging it's heels for far too long now. They really need to come out with all fists swinging if they want to be on top again.

Chris720 commented on Hacking Group Claims To Have Discovered Wii U ...:

@theadrock13 Do what exactly? Bridge the gap between hardcore and casual players?

Unfortunately Nintendo needs to wake up. The casual market they once controlled is gone, over run by tablets and phones. The only viable market they can grab hold of now is die hard Nintendo fan boys and the "self proclaimed hardcore" gamers, in other words, graphic jerks and "it needs more power!"

They need a console that can cater for that market now. But I'm done, I'll stick with the previous generation, I don't like where gaming is going. Full of hackers and graphic/power snobs.

Not surprised, especially through the Wii mode. My best guess is Nintendo will issue a recall and replace them with a more up to date hardware version to get around this problem.

Or, y'know, give up the ghost and create a new console all together. ;)

Even a blind man can see this console has flopped. The only income Nintendo are getting is from 3DS sales.

I don't see how Nintendo are going to turn this flop over, third party support is pretty much non-existent, the first party support is few and far between. All you have is downloads... how is that going to cater for people who want big name games?

I really love Nintendo and I'll back them all the way, but I'm sorry Nintendo, the Wii U has nothing going for it anymore. Its been struggling for over a year now and the Christmas period didn't even help it out. Just kill the life support already...

@BlueZealand That's the problem with discounts, you never know when they'll come.

I'll look into Retro City Rampage, Weapon Shop and at 89p for Bird Mania, I'll probably get that too. Finally see something worth buying after nothing for months.

Chris720 commented on Soapbox: A Monster Hunter Obsession, and Why t...:

I think the main problem with Monster Hunter is, its a "love it" or "hate it" experience.

Its a lot like driving a Formula 1 car compared to a Nissan Micra, they're both on completely different spectrum's. You not only feel the difference, but you also have to adapt and change to the difference and if you don't you'll crash and burn or fail to launch.

Monster Hunter can be one of those games that you'll get a buzz for after a while or not at all, compared to say Call of Duty, where you can jump in and know exactly what to do. It all comes down to the persons preference.
