Burning_Spear commented on Mario History: Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - 2003:

"Bland track design"? Really? I still think it has a better collection of original tracks than any other Mario Kart. Recent iterations offer a better selection by virtue of adding classic tracks, but has a Mario Kart ever introduced 16 NEW tracks that match these?

Doesn't even matter to me anymore. The thing will go up for pre-sale while most of the world is asleep or at work, and it will be sold out five minutes later. I have nine or 10 of these, but I'm not buying another unless it's important to a game.

Burning_Spear commented on Review: Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley (3DS):

I own every Harvest Moon game ... except for this one. And I won't buy it. Natsume owns the name but not the game, and it shouldn't be derailing the franchise this way. Having twice as many HM games available is only going to dilute demand and ensure that neither publisher profits. Plus, I don't like Minecraft.

Burning_Spear commented on Two Tetris Downloads to be Removed from the 3D...:

IMO, Tetris 3DS/Axis is vastly underrated. I've read a preview of Tetris Ultimate, and I don't see what it has over Axis. Having played Tetris since the GameBoy original, I'm now just lukewarm on the series. Been there; done that. But Axis really revived me, even more so than Tetris DS.

Good call, Tasuki. I agree. Natsume owns the name but not the game. I'm not against new ideas, but I don't like to see the franchise being split this way. It could inspire Marvelous to release a console version, to pre-empt one by Natsume, but in the long run I think two versions of the same franchise will lead to saturation and hurt both companies.

HM fan who owns every game but considering skipping this one.

The tool upgrades are a staple element of the game. They add an RPG flavor and should not be disturbed. Making the rucksack too big is also a bad idea. This game is about resource and time management. It simulates work and is not supposed to be a breeze.

Burning_Spear commented on Satoru Iwata Confirms That DS Games Are Coming...:

To me, this seems like time and effort misspent. A DSi XL provides a bigger screen than a split-screen GamePad, better battery life and complete portability. Playing on a TV screen would likely mean a grotesquely pixelated image. So who exactly are we targeting? People who don't own a DS? And with Nintendo's history of VC releases, will we even see a meaningful number or selection of games?

Burning_Spear commented on Review: Mario Bros. (3DS eShop / NES):

My favorite arcade game of all time. There was a time when every machine had the Spear's initials at the top of the leaderboard. Crowds would gather when I played.
Oh how I wish Nintendo would port the arcade version with the icicles and the higher difficulty level.

@Marko said: Earth to Nintendo Wii U MSRP should be 199.99 Deluxe version.. anything more than that is an insult to the consumer...

They should just give it away, right? The closest-priced system on the market is $100 more with no pack-in game. The other system is $200 more with no pack-in game. The price is fair based on the offering and functionality, and it's not the problem. You reach a point of diminishing returns with price drops because you tend to attract less-enthusiastic customers who won't buy a lot of titles anyway, and that means Nintendo doesn't make up the cost of the price cut.

Gotta wonder what Codemaster was thinking. The game was released on other platforms more than a year ago. Rather than producing a Wii U version when the system's owners were begging for any new release, the company waited until now, just a few months before the release of Mario Kart.

Burning_Spear commented on Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This...:

I've been Zen Pinballing on Wii U a lot lately, so I'm looking forward to a lot more of that this weekend. Kicking around the idea of starting Duck Tales Remastered or Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. We have a three-day weekend here in the States, so it's a good opportunity to get immersed in a new game.
