I'll be steering well clear of this. It looks like a total rip off, maybe I'm wrong but this is NSMBU except you play with Luigi instead of Mario? Bollox.... So if you own NSMBU and you have to pay £20 or £30 if you want the physical disc to play as Luigi. No thanks.

I like the PS4 pad I think its a better idea than Nintendos Wii U pad where you have to look at the touch screen, even though Sony nicked the idea of Nintendo but I do like the look of the PS4 pad.

A problem Sony and Microsoft don't have that Nintendo does have is 'image'.

The price will have to be right because its not like years ago when we had underpowered consoles and couldn't wait until the next generation. All consoles nowadays have plenty of power even the Wii has plenty of power. No-one is in a mad panic to upgrade no-one is that stuck anymore.

I'll be holding out for the slim PS4 and a price cut because we all know what happens to the early adopters.

I think its a very sad state of affairs, Its bad enough 3rd party publishers releasing DLC for their games but Nintendo doing it on the games they are using to sell their consoles. Its shameful and a reflection of how low they have sunk in the last 10 years. They used to care about the gamer now I'm not even sure Nintendo knows what a gamer is. I'm so disappointing with the Wii U, its actually worse than I imagined, it feels like playing a portable system, I don't want to play a portable system, I want console games on the telly.

I wish they would do an update that would make the control pad disappear.

I reckon Capcom are probable one of the few developer/publishers capable of making money on Wii U

I see it was released but I don't think it was released in Europe because I can't find it on amazon.co.uk or amazon.de or any European site, another thing I can't find is the 'RVL 014' official Wii sensor bar. Nintendo is up to their tricks again treating European gamers with contempt.

He called the Wii U a piece of junk a couple of weeks ago.

I think its Nintendo's president who is out of touch 'Satoru Iwata' because its his ship. I can understand Nintendo refusing to release their games on other platforms like smart phones and they are right not to.
My Wii U won't be arriving till tomorrow but I still think the touch screen is a bad idea and I think people don't like this BS they are coming out with.

Does this mean Wii U is not as powerful as PS3? I certainly hope its as least as powerful as PS3 and a lot more powerful than 360. I'm still waiting for delivery of my Wii U from amazon so I haven't even seen the machine in action yet. I didn't buy it to play 3rd party games on so whatever EA or anyone else does doesn't bother me but I would like it to have a nice bit of horse power under the hood.

Your making me laugh, there are no quality games on smart phones and no one will be buying Wii U to play crap mobile phone games they can get on their phone, its not going to happen. Console gamers like proper games. Probably the reason Nintendo are doing this is because they are strugling to get 3rd party developers on board because 3rd party developers know its very hard to make money on a Nintendo console. People buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games.

I totally disagree with that opinion and I for one won't ever be replacing my consoles with a smart phone, which I have but do not play games on. I think its complete BS all this talk about smart phones and tablets replacing consoles. Sony & MS don't seem to bothered about it, its only Nintendo that's obsessing. Iwata probably has kids that play on iPad so he thinks its the way forward. I hope he resigns soon.

I bought the basic model today 188 euro it cost me. I'm very happy, its the cheapest Nintendo console I ever bought, I have them all, although the NES was only £120 so it was cheaper. Its only now that I have bought the Wii U that I realize there are only 2 games worth playing on it, Nintendo land and NSMBU but this baby is future proof, happy days are here again...

@Agent75 I think Wii U will do a lot better than Dreamcast to be fair. I think Nintendo messed up but they still have a chance to redeem themselves if they can produce some killer games and cut the price of the console. They can and will do both these things.

That is the price Nintendo needs to go for when they give the official price cut.

I consider myself a gamer and I will not be using a mobile phone as my number one gaming device 'ever'. These firms make me laugh with their predictions. Mobile gaming may be on the rise but not with real gamers. I want to play my video games on a 40" Sony 1080p TV with the sound pumping through a 1000 watt home cinema system. Thank God for Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft because these company's are keeping real gaming alive. I also don't care how cheap mobile gaming is because the reason its cheap is because its rubbish they're selling.

I'm gone mental playing retro games this last couple of years. I'm in the middle of Nintendo's big 2013 Christmas blockbuster 'Wind Waker' I forgot how good it was, I never finished it 10 years ago, but thanks to the internet I think I'll be able to complete it this time. Retro all the way dude.

Can anyone tell me because I'm not up to date here; Have Nintendo said there will be Gamecube games on Wii U VC? Plus this 1.49euro for a VC game? So if I have a VC game I downloaded to my Wii, I can download it on Wii U for 1.49euro and still keep it on my Wii, so I will have 2 copies one on my Wii and the other on WII U, have I got it right?

I don't think Mother 2 will sell many Wii U consoles but you never know, I would not buy a console to play retro game.

The company has changed direction since he took over and yeah the Wii was a massive success but this touch screen with the Wii U and not competing with Sony and MS on horsepower and even the type of games being produced is turning off a lot of core gamers. Nintendo don't even make core games anymore or hardly any. What will the Wii U's successor have? A vacuum cleaner and a flashlight attached to improve game-play? The old Nintendo (the one that ruled the world and made the best games in the world) was a far better company.

Love your top ten choice, except I would remove Donkey kong country and the Turtles. I also think the SNES was the greatest console of all time. The design of the console and pad, couple that with ground breaking games. Nintendo were on fire. I'd also put Super Probotector (Contra 3) in the top ten. I can remember when I bought 'A Link To The Past' I had the map laid out on my bed as I played the game, it was one of the greatest gaming moments in my life. The SNES is a legend.

Don't mean to worry anyone but will it get a European release? There will be a lot of translation work to be done before a European release. I have the game and it's not bad but its not as good as the hype might suggest.

Great game, I have it in my collection. I started playing the Gamecube recently thanks to this site, I'm busy on Mario Sunshine and Windwaker, then I'll be moving on to F Zero Ax and Metroid, Its actually like having a brand new console the games are that fresh, even though I've played them all 10 years ago. I'm in gaming heaven.

A product that sells 23 million units is anything but a failure. The problem Wii U has it is not seen as new technology where PS4 and Xbox720 will bee seen as new technology so people won't want to pay big money for old tech. I also think Nintendo will have to make sure they get the price cut right, they will not want to do it twice. I think they will cut the price by 100 euro. Believe me they can afford it because it will be a case of not being able to afford not to.

The failing of the Gamecube (which was one of Nintendo's best consoles) and the success of the Wii were major factors in the birth of Wii U. Nintendo are desperate to repeat the success they had with the Wii but it won't happen with Wii U. The Wii was a revolutionary way to play games and hats of to them but because of its success the company has lost its focus. Its like we have to have a gadget with every console and lets forget about what really made us the greatest games company of all time 'the games'. The Wii U is not a revolution or evolution it is something I think most gamers don't want. I'll tell you what I want an evolution of the Gamecube controller and some proper Nintendo games.

I am certainly not confidant 2 screens are the way forward. All gamers want is top of the range games and a good game pad to play them. Everything they say is to suit themselves I think it's crazy what's going on, a company like that should have 20 -30 in house games in development at all times the money have. But that said I will be looking forward to picking up a cheap Wii U and I don't care if I have to wait years. Maybe there'd be more games then.

Will you people please wake up and smell the coffee, rayman was delayed purely for business reasons, Ubisoft are a business they are there to make money. Give them a break for gods sake. If I remember correctly Waverace 64 was completed months before Nintendo would release it because they were afraid to release it in winter in case it affected sales, so things are done for a reason so please enough with the 'I hate ubisoft'

I still don't know what Nintendo were trying to achieve withe the 64DD. The reason Nintendo refused to use CD discs was they couldn't stop piracy if they used CD's. It was a bold move to stick with cartridge for the N64 and it probably cost them because N64 was a far better console than PS1.
