I think that Destiny is going to walk all over the sales of this game. Bungie/Activision/Blizzard. Halo was a big name and I think Destiny is going to be the next big selling franchise. Smash on the 3DS will no doubt sell more than any other game (besides CoD and GTA). But Watch Dogs won't be the seller that Assassin's Creed is, not for its first iteration.

I prefer the original 3DS due to it not being huge and having a stretched image. I played Pokemon X with my niece and tried out her 3DS XL. Everything felt so stretched and pixelated, in comparison. Jaggies galore in places unnoticeable on my regular 3DS.

I would play VC games on it more, if the Gamepad didn't have such bad edge light bleeding. I switched mine twice and it has been horrible all 3 times. At least my latest one is minor. The last ones looked like there wasn't even a screen, just a light shining through.

baconcow commented on Latest PS4 Sales Figures Take it Past Wii U Li...:

I plan on getting a PS4 once there is a must-buy game on it, which there isn't currently, IMO. Since I have a quite powerful PC, games that cross-platform with the PC do not make sense for me on the PS4. I don't understand how the Wii U, with arguably a much better software base (at the current time), is so poorly selling. With Pikmin 3, DKTF, SM3DW, and NSMB Wii U, there is already a solid set of Nintendo games on the Wii U. Not a lot, but more than the exclusives the PS4 has to offer. Still waiting for the PS4 to show that must-buy game (that isn't available on PC). Thinking this might end up being Metal Gear Solid: Phantom Pain or some obscure RPG. Also looking forward to Minecraft on the PS4, for couch co-op purposes. It is one of those games that could really use the PS4 hardware to really shine. My PC can handle it, but couch co-op just isn't viable without a mods, and even then, it fails.

baconcow commented on Satoru Iwata Admits The "Wii U Isn't In Good S...:

Nintendo is losing a lot of money in the last year. Why? They have a huge catalog of games (even just first party ones) that they could easily put on the 3DS and Wii U (GBA games, especially the Pokemon, Advance Wars, and other popular series). The 3DS is screaming to have digital DS downloads and GBA downloads. Heck, they could sell SNES games on that console, too. They release games slowly, holding back much of their best handheld games from the past. I keep waiting for GBA on the 3DS. I keep waiting for old Dragon Warrior/Quest games on the 3DS. They have so much potential and they sit there twiddling their thumbs. Also, they could make a 3DS with a second analog built in and people would buy it (make regular and XL later). They have franchises that have sit improperly used or unused for so long: Metroid Prime, F-Zero (easily one of the best racing games on earth), Advance Wars (seriously... where is this). They could sell popular 3DS franchise games on the Wii U if they want to push more console sales: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon 2, Animal Crossing Wii U (this is a no-brainer... and with the Wii U, it could be incredibly expansive), and much much more. They sit there without DK1, 2, or 3 on their Wii U virtual console. They have Twilight Princess, one of the best Zelda games, made to be played on the Gamecube hardware, screaming for an HD upgrade (Wind Waker HD was impressive). Metroid Prime Trilogy is screaming HD. So many money-making ideas that involve reusing popular IP's or making ports (HD or direct on 3DS) of popular games. Ports and reusing IP's work on other consoles, why not push it on the Wii U. And where is Minecraft? If Nintendo's decision to leave it off, it was a poor one.

This could be the releases in the next few years, and sell millions:

3DS

  • Advance Wars 3DS
  • Metroid Collection (3DS remake or collection of Zero Mission, Fusion, and Super Metroid)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
  • GBA, DS (digital), and SNES games on 3DS.

Wii U

  • Pokemon Stadium X&Y
  • Minecraft
  • F-Zero GX^2
  • Metroid Prime Trilogy HD
  • Metroid Prime 4
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
  • Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon 2
  • Fire Emblem Wii U
  • GBA and DS games on Wii U.
  • Release more titles at once instead of spreading them out so far. Since most weeks are crap, I barely watch the titles that drop.

@blinkpunk02

The review is not entirely correct. You can purchase or rent from nearly the beginning of the game. Purchasing weapons is necessary if you ever want to upgrade them. Purchasing happens almost at the same point you rent. Not sure why they said the majority of the game you cannot purchase. I had all the weapons purchased (except one) by the end of my 2nd dungeon (not including the dungeons from before weapons could be rented).

baconcow commented on Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D:

@DanteSolablood I agree with you. I am just annoyed Nintendo has not upgraded for the (I think) masses. I enjoyed all of the DS upgrades that happened. The DS Lite brought a bright screen and a compact size. The DSi, while not as much of an upgrade, brought a better internet interface, webstore, built-in browser that worked ok at the time, and SD card slot. I was all excited when I heard there was a new 3DS, only to get disappointed.

@DanteSolablood, I appreciate Nintendo's effort to put the console into more children's hands. What I would have rather was a better console in MY hands. And the 3DS XL is hardly an "upgrade". It is just a larger system with a larger stretched screen. To each his own, to consider this an upgrade.

@tchaten, I still use my original 3DS from the beginning and it is an excellent piece of hardware. The 3DS XL also sells frequently, at least here in Canada, for $170. I would never throw away the 3D aspect of this great console and it's ability to close.

So, instead of redesigning the 3DS and having it include a 2nd analog stick, a design that would surely interest myself in upgrading and push some others that are on the fence, they put their R&D money into a model that saves, what, $40? I see 3DS in-store for $140 WITH a $40 game, quite frequently. I'd rather pay $10 more from a superior piece of hardware.
