It's kind of funny that this would pop up just as I'm getting back into Hyrule Warriors after a few months' hiatus. I've definitely enjoyed the game a lot, and it inspired me to indulge in "season pass"-style DLC for the first time ever. That said, I'm not sure I'd play another Warriors title just yet unless it stood out in some special way. With how formulaic the series seems to be, it would take an entry with another extra "wow" factor (like getting to see my favorite Zelda characters take out hordes of moblins with badassery to spare in Hyrule Warriors) to drive me to another purchase.

My vote is for F-Zero X, but my desire to play it on the 3DS only barely surpasses my desire for Pokemon Snap. Frankly, the 3DS was made for games like Pokemon Snap; unfortunately, one poorly-received first-party experiment in the "your 3DS is a camera" category may have shut down the possibility for good.

I understand the disappointment with the lack of voice chat during online matches, but I also understand why Nintendo would want to avoid Halo-of-Duty-style chatroom crassness. There doesn't really seem to be a winning choice to please everyone. As long as there are at least some basic preset phrases for team strategizing, I'm satisfied.

I personally rather like the demo. I'll grant that the enemy moves take a bit of waiting, but I'll suffer that without complaint so long as the AI is good. I had to learn to play in a new style (this isn't Fire Emblem; stop trying to figure out how far enemies can move and prepare an overwatch setup to be ready for anything instead), but that didn't take long, and it was pretty rewarding once I had it figured out. Looking forward to the release.

No More Heroes was far better than its sequel, in my not-so-humble opinion. I'll grant that the first had its flaws (overworld was barren; travel could be a pain, particularly after failing a mission; gathering money could be a grind), but the second had more (money-gathering even more grindy; awkward mechanics with secondary characters; weaker plot; dialogue and bosses that didn't fit the universe of the original; repetitive and unenjoyable odd job minigames; etc.). That said, the arrival of the latter game pretty much necessitates the arrival of the first, so very well.

And yes, I hope that Xenoblade Chronicles will make the jump, but as it may reduce sales of the New 3DS version, I doubt it.

ArcanaXVI commented on Shovel Knight Has an Unlockable "Butt Mode":

@dok5555555 I have both versions, and both play identically for the core game (read: they're both awesome). The 3DS has some snazzy 3D layering and a Streetpass "arena mode" (not quite a battle mode: http://yachtclubgames.com/2014/06/streetpass-explained/ ), but the Wii U obviously has a larger display (though not a higher resolution) and the Digger's Diary ( http://yachtclubgames.com/2014/06/diggers-diary-detailed/ ). The Wii U version will also eventually have a four-player battle mode, presumably only for local play. In short: your call.

Definitely getting Teslagrad. I've already played Nihilumbra on PC, but it's pretty good, and it'll be a great fit for the GamePad.

Stick It To The Man reminds me pretty heavily of Psychonauts, which is never a bad thing, so I'll probably have to get it, too.

@King47 Acknowledged--a list of characters says next to nothing, and Shin Megami Tensei is nothing if not a niche franchise. That said, many of us familiar with the core mechanics of Shin Megami Tensei (especially demon fusion, weakness-exploitation systems, and the law-chaos scale) see how well they would blend with Fire Emblem's battle, relationship, and permadeath systems. It's by no means a surefire great game--it'll be a challenge to do both series justice while keeping the game balanced--but it holds great potential, and I for one am dying to hear more.

I feel like everybody's forgotten about Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem ... not that I expect an update this time around, either, but it'd make my day. I'll take any information on Monolith Soft's X and Bayonetta 2 that I can get, though. (I'm already planning on getting Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8; news about them is cool, but my hype quota is already full.)

ArcanaXVI commented on Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U...:

I object to this survey for one core reason: The Wii U doesn't need a "killer app." It needs a must-have game.

While it's a pity that several games (especially The Wonderful 101 and Super Mario 3D World, which are magnificent) haven't already fit that bill, hopefully Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros. will.

... And personally, I like the GamePad. It's actually more comfortable to me than most "normal" controllers, and while its potential is pretty obviously untapped, its presence isn't harming anyone. Remember the reaction to the Wii's motion controls (especially MotionPlus) before Skyward Sword came out? Same situation, folks.

Sounds good to me. Mario--and most multiplayer Nintendo games, for that matter--seem to work best with a group of friends in the living room. For games like Mario Kart and Animal Crossing, it's high time that a good online multiplayer system be present (and lo and behold, it's there), and while I see how Mario could work online and why people would like for it to, I think Nintendo can afford to hold off for a little longer.
