adzix commented on Review: 3D Fantasy Zone II (3DS eShop):

@Kirk I love the Master System version. And find it actually better in some ways than this 3D remake of the arcade port. I did get it, finished it with all three endings, and love what M2 did here once again.
BUT: the potions are gone, that you could buy (and find) in the SMS version, as well as the possibility to permanently upgrade your standard bullets.
And there's always just a light and dark zone in each level, whereas the SMS version had levels with 3 zones. Also you could decide when to enter the boss fight and the shops were permanent. Those are all things that made the sms version extremly good, in my opinion.
So yeah, the remake is great, but you have to keep in mind it is the remake of the arcade port and not the original MKIII/SMS version.

Already bought Fantasy Zone 2, was waiting for that one.
For someone who only knew the Sega Master System version, this is quite different in how the zones within a level work, shop placement, life meter and so on. Still, I love the music, the 3D effect is excellent, and I am looking forward to unlocking some stuff, we'll see.
Honestly, that's how you remake/remaster classic games, those Sega 3D ports are just awesome.

Looks really nice, but I havet to admit I am so much more interested in Fantasy Zone 2, which I played through on my master system so often, because I just love the music and colorful look.
Hopefully it'll get a Europe release as well.

Am I the only one wondering how the card actually works, how the menu is, how fast the load times are, how it handles saving, if it's updateable, if you can use cheats, if there are any limitations and so on?
Somehow all it says is how the thing looks like and how well it's packaged.
Well that's pretty cool but not really a review :)

only a 3 star rating? hm...
well i guess it's because i grew up with the master system that my opinion of this game is a much higher one.
i love the soundtrack, the songs are really amazing.
the game plays pretty good and considering the horsepower of the sms this looks amazing. it's tough and i never managed to finish it...

this was one of my first video games i owned.
wipes a tear away
and honestly, this game deserves a FIVE star rating, not four.
i usually could care less about reviews, but this is a real gem.

adzix commented on MSX Hits Japanese VC, Includes Special Options:

i want that option for master system games, since some of them made use of the fm chip in the japanese master system, like phantasy star (sounded so much better... wow)
and i definitely would love to see msx get a european release.
what's the big deal anyway, it's not like they're risking any investment.

adzix commented on Sega Fans Rejoice: Alex Kidd In Miracle World ...:

hmmm the game i recieved with my master system back in 1986 was hang on, but alex kidd was one of the first modules i had....
really outstanding game, still love it...
i am surprised people liked shinobi world that much?
after seeing how incredibly BAD the 2nd kidd game was, i gave up on the series.

haha, yes i did have that game built in.
but i didn't knew about it until 1988.
as you may know, it wouldnt just start when you turned on the sms, but you had to 'activate' it with a button/joystick combo while turning the system on. i read about it in a mag 1988 and was really excited, tho the game itself is... well.... crap

adzix commented on Master System Games Coming to The VC!:

this is what i have been waiting for ever since the whole VC concept has been introduced to the gaming world.
i got my sms back in 1986 for christmas, and boy did i love it.
back then it came with no built in game, but the hang on cartridge was included (the sms had modules and cartridges).
over the years a nice deal of quality games were release, here to name but a few killer titles.
phantasy star (of course)
golvellius
fantasy zone 1 + 2
wonder boy 3 the dragon's trap (already released as the TG version on VC)
y's
golden axe warrior
r-type (only version to include a hidden stage)
space harrier (many people didn't like this release, i for one love it, one of the best soundtracks ever)
ultima 4 (fun little port of a classic)
the ninja
and so on...

yoshi175, what a pointless comment.
if you state that it is awful, explain why. just bashing a game won't help anyone (except for your status as being extremely cool)

anyway, i had this game about 10 years ago, or maybe 9.
loved that it was really hard to master and for the time it looked stunning. the gfx didn't age that badly actually, and the music always kinda sucked.
this is one of the top3 snowboarding games, definitely worth your wii points.

adzix commented on Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle:

hell yea, master system version was 10 times better, i loved the miracle world.
why is there no master system in the VC? it would be easy and with wonder boy3, phantasy star, alex kidd, golvellius, golden axe warrior, zillion and so on there are tons of timeless games, that easily surpass the nes stuff in terms of graphic and sound.
so....
