no i wont get rid of it ! even for a lot of money, and for a single reason : there's no alternative
i wont ask Nintendo to customize my pad because even in my dreams i doubt it would succeed :/

Now that i've learned that all gamepads are suffering from this lack of finishing, i'll will surely write an email to Nintendo to ask them why for the first time in their history they chosen such a cheap-looking&souding way of assembling buttons.
Even without my email to them, i'm ready to bet that the next wave of gamepads will have more solidly attached buttons.

of course it dont affect the gameplay in anyway, i dont even care about the play/loose, but the noise is annoying me. i can hear it every time i pick up the gamepad from the charging stand or when shaking it.
I wouldnt accept this from a smartphone or from my laptop or my camera, why should it be more acceptable from the long awaited and beloved Nintendo console :/

if only the screws were visble on the gamepad, i would have open it to glue the buttons on their support

anyway thanks to everyone who took the time to read and reply to this post confirming that it's 'normal' and not a default from only my gamepad

that's really too bad and decieving from Nintendo : snes pad, gc pad, wiimotes, wiiu pro controler, none of them suffered from this kind of lack of finishing(and still dont despite of their age) and none of them is producing such a cheap noise
correct me if i'm wrong but the wii gamepad is supposed to be shaked in some gameplay ?

more than 2hours elapsed, looks like 20%, so the update will take 10 hours .... this isn't serious
(this added to some cheap and noisy buttons, the volume control really looks .... no comment, big N is changing ....)
i just hope playing some games will have a more positive impact on me

remote control thingy = "wiiu gamepad" ( http://goo.gl/Py5hA ) ? is your in USB ? either i get it all wrong or maybe the console you have in front of you is not a wiiu ;)

more seriously, if you are talking about the gamepad called "wiiu pro controler"( http://goo.gl/yDndg ), the usb cable is used only for power/charge not for the data, so you should be able to plug it even if the console is already online

@ xBASSxMONSTAx :
since you speak in '£', i suppose you are living in uk, so you have chance to be able to try the wiiu in some shops :

you dont even have to wait until next friday to test it by a friend :)

@skywake

it's very likely to work because Nintendo dont mention "y" cable in the main documentation :
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/system_ex...
they mention the "y" cable only in the Q/A, which for me is what to read only if you run into troubles

@19Robb92

for me, the only way that may allow it is the following :

  • let the wiiu format it entirely
  • use some linux tool like parted to resize the wii partition in a low level way (no windows tools will allow to resize a partition with an unknown format)
  • put it again into the wiiu and make the wiiu format it again. hopefully, enough wii specific info will remain on the partition and the wii may try to only format the partition and not the whole disc

if it work it could be considered by nintendo as a flaw and may be not possible anymore after a system update

if you want i'll try friday when i'll get mine

Why not turning the question the other way ? let's suppose that every disc is compatible and build a list of incompatible discs, it will be even much shorter ;)

3.5" :
any 3.5" disc is supposed to be supported since they all have an external power supply

2.5" :
Why do you say there are not many discs ( < or = to 500gb) that meet the requirements ? a cable is a cable : you can use a Y cable with any external 2.5" disc :)
if you've got a 2.5" disc with a single plug that work with your computer, i'm pretty sure that it will work the same on your wiiu without a Y cable, this Y thing is only a kind of safety advice from nintendo.

didnt hear about "gameboy player" before, but currently it seems to be sold at around 100€ with the system disc ! at this price it's completely uninteresting
it seems there's a cheaper alternative called "advance gameport" which can be used on the wii

personally i will keep my wii when i'll get the wii-u (gamecube support, statistically will last longer, component video, media player, ...)
if i wanted to play gameboy games i would buy a 10 or 20€ second-hand gba (or i would buy a ds-phat |lite) : handheld is a major feature

could you report the exact model of your tv please ?

by "changing my TV resolution down to 480p" do you mean it's a setting from your tv ?
if so, can't you set your tv to some "auto" resolution ? it seems strange to have tv forced in some resolution, usually tv adapt itself by matching the resolution of the source signal (using the same res or higher+scaling)
