Bubsy on the Snes was pretty awesome, it was like a poor mans Sonic but with better graphics. I'll also second Banjo Kazooie, I don't think I've ever played a better 3d platformer.

Other than that the only obscure title I can think of is Terminator II for the Nes. The music in that game was first class.
