CORE is by far my favorite in the series too, in the sense that it's the game I keep going back to and playing through the most. The music for levels 2 and 3 definitely have something to do with it, though. It's fantastic!
As for the boss of Id, here's a hint: Think outside the box. I couldn't get past it either until figured that out. Good luck!
