WoRMaSTeR commented on Review: Mario Kart 64 (Virtual Console / Ninte...:
This game, while being slow hits exactly what mario kart is about: multiplayer. The item balance is just right and the battle mode is the best here. Mario Kart Wii isn't better in any aspect and it totally manages to take the fun out with unbalanced items and unbalanced bike vs. kart so this remains the supreme Mario Kart for me anyways.

"BD: Is that why you wouldn't play LEGO Star Wars with Megan Fox on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen?
SL: Correct. Who wants to play the Wii version of LEGO Star Wars. I'd rather eat glass."
Well I would also want to do something else with Megan Fox, so he is on the right track here. Although I would play anything with her...

WoRMaSTeR commented on Life Force:
I still hope that this is released since I know there are people that want it. I just don't understand why it is "the top game of the month" for japan. It's kinda like reading about another xbox 360 3rd person shooter, but atleast those are selling. Look at the most downloaded lists, see any shooters? No you don't so I cannot understand why everyone and their mother must release these.
#8
WoRMaSTeR commented on Life Force:
@ 11. Adamant: You are saying that super mario 3 is a ten minute experience or any other platformer for that matter? Sport games and beat'em ups are crap (and repetive) unless you play them with friends granted, racing games of the 8 bit-era are crap, but modern games offer a lot more than any shooter out there. At least in good puzzles the scenario changes, so it is a different experience everytime, but in shooters it is allways the same enemy patterns etc.
I actually bought a shooter on VC (super star soldier) since it was so highly praised and it was the biggest disappointment to me on VC. I've have played games for 20 years now and I find shooters are allways my least played games on any computer or console. So I guess I just wanted to say could we please have something else than shooters, I mean don't we have enough of those allready?
#9
WoRMaSTeR commented on Life Force:
More shooters, yippie-kay-ya. We can never have enough of those, there still must be some not released on VC. I just don't understand how people can value a game where the "experience" lasts for 10 minutes and then you are supposed to do it all over again. How many hours you really can get out of this? I would argue around 2 and that is optimistic. And yes I am condemning this without ever playing this so I might be wrong.

I actually bought a points card and 3rd classic controller because I was sure Mana would come. Well I guess they are not wasted, but how long is it gonna take to release that damn game? Now would be the perfect time to release this, since let's face it - there is absolutely nothing worth playing on the Wii right now.

@ 62. 2097: That's just selfish thinking. I agree that piracy isn't as bad as theft, but it is not a victimless crime. I for one sell games, so every sale I lose because of piracy is money out of my pocket, so in essence you are stealing from me.

WoRMaSTeR commented on Corbie's Top 20 Virtual Console Releases - Part 2:
@ Corbie: Probably would start a site if I wasn't already doing 2 game related jobs and owning a game store. Barely have time to even play games. But anyways it is good to have different opinions so we can have something to write about in the forums.
@ Cally: True, there's nothing wrong with that. I just got the impression when reading this article that those choices were largely based on experiences had with the games when they came out and that has little to no relevance today.
We all had those brilliant games, but in my heart I know I wouldn't but something like Ice Hockey (NES) in a public list like this one even though it has affected my life more than any game on the VC to date. It had aged badly, but back when it was the only hockey game available (ice hockey is in Finland kind of like 5 x american football is there) we played it untill our hands bled.
But enough of that, the list contains brilliant games and although I don't wholly agree I think I can live with it.

WoRMaSTeR commented on Corbie's Top 20 Virtual Console Releases - Part 2:
No offence to anyone but you salute Corbie for doing his own list and I find it silly. That's like saying congratulations for remembering to breath, as what else could he possibly have done?
Pretty obscure choices and I agree with some, but for this list to have any value you really should consider games that you can recommend to everyone at the current time - not games that have left an impression on you and certainly not those that have left an impression on you 15 years ago. This is still a list of top games on VC you should download - not a list what you should have played when it came out. Sorry for the worthless rant everyone just adding my 2 cents...

Yay, finally some games to look forward to.
Is it 100 % confirmed that you can actually play the games from the memory card? A Finnish site (www.pelit.fi) says that is was announced that you can download games directly to the SD card, but if you want to play them they still need to reside in the Wii's on memory. I surely hope they are wrong...

WoRMaSTeR commented on The DSi – One Step Closer to a Portable Virt...:
@ 6. x.SuperMario.x
"What were you expecting? An underwater 4.0 mega pixel shoved into the skin of a DS?"
I was actually expecting 3.0 megapixel and seeing it doesn't even have 1.0 which is the bare minimum these days (and this is a new yet to be released machine) it is as a said VERY VERY low quality camera.
"I'm not sure your sales will make or break Nintendo."
Pointless, but you are aparently very easily annoyed by negative comments towards Nintendo so I can understand.
"DS Lite was released in 2006. Do your research before you decide to post."
My comment derived from the useless GBA updates (Micro anyone?), the PSP also getting a very minor update not year after the next etc. So it was meant to say for people to stop bying just minor updates as they are in my opinion not worth the money. And you knew what I meant when I said yearly (I don't mean exactly a year, but too frequent), you just had to comment on that one too in your rage.
I bought my DS lite this year so maybe I'm just annoyed that is now outdated by a better model. Are they now gonna be making DSi only games (that support dual touch screens) so I have to yet again pay them 200 euros or so. And I really get no technological improvement for my money. Pisses me off atleast.

WoRMaSTeR commented on The DSi – One Step Closer to a Portable Virt...:
There really is nothing to get excited about confirmed here. Very low quality camera, umm everyone has that allready on their mobile phone + people who want to take pictures have a digital camera for a lot better quality pictures. SD card support does add some possibilities, but until they realize I won't be buying this.
It is kinda lame that they need to come up with new system update on a yearly basis, people need to stop buying this to make them do bigger leaps onward and not just milk us out of our money.

WoRMaSTeR commented on EU VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Super Mari...:
As this turned out to be a discussion which Final Fantasy is the best I'm gonna give my two cents. In my opinion VIII is the best (and I know it is not a popular one). I just love the plot, Squall is the so damn cool, limit breaks are the best ever and Triple Triad kicks ass. IX is the second best, then VII, VI, IV and so forth. I find that a lot of people over evaluate the SNES ones, I mean they are really good games and we have fond memories of them, but nowdays they really are not that enjoyable to play.
X is absolute carbage - Tidus is the most annoying videogame character ever, it has very poor voice acting, poor and very confusing plot and worst of all it is linear (that is not what Final Fantasy or RGP's in general are about). XII is bad, but it has it's moments.

I played recently on the VC and found it to be extremely easy (didn't die once), but I guess it helps me that I killed everything I saw and thus I was levelled up. Also it might not hurt that I finished the much harder sequel on the GameCube earlier.

WoRMaSTeR commented on Review: My Aquarium (WiiWare):
Got this last night and I have to say I'm not very impressed yet. I really wanted to name my fish, but it seems to lack that function. I hope it will be more fun to watch them grow than it was trying to interact with them. Also there could have been more options when building your fishtank. All these problems could easily be fixed with DLC though.
So while I don't fully agree with the review score, for people that have allways wanted an aquarium (like me), but don't have the time or money to invest in a real one this is a good solution. I would give it 7/10.

WoRMaSTeR commented on Goldeneye Locked In Legal Limbo:
@ 39. Fierce Deity: Why we would want it despite new shooters? I want to be Bond - that's why, and this is the finest Bond game ever made. I haven't played Goldeneye in a long time, but it was the poo back in the day, there is a reason this game makes every top 100 games ever made list.
I think it will be higher in top 100 lists five years from now than any of the games you mentioned. And please people Perfect Dark is nowhere near as good.

WoRMaSTeR commented on Nintendo Responds To US Release Date Queries:
Rare is under a contract to only develop and release their new console games exclusively for the Xbox. I'm not 100 % sure about this, so correct me if I'm wrong. However this does not include handheld games or older games, so there is a possibility we might see rare games released on VC. However in the case of Goldeneye it is also a lisence issue (as it obviously has bond license that rare does not hold anymore), so it will propably never see a release.

#37
WoRMaSTeR commented on Nintendo Responds To US Release Date Queries:
@ 96. theberrage: Super Smash Bros. Brawl works on every console, but some older consoles needed the disc reading laser cleaned (usually the older consoles). This is due to the fact that it is the first game that uses both layers of the DVD disc and apparently the laser needs to be in good condition to be able to read the second layer.
This kind of thing happens on other consoles (games don't work before updated or crash on some consoles) all the time. I work in a game store so I know. For one Wii that need to be repaired there are 15 X-Box 360's and something like 10 PlayStation 3's (the 60 gb model particularly is crap). So if anything the Wii's quality as a reliable console is far superior to anything on the market. So you really are barking at the wrong tree this time.

@Dazza - Ok now I understand, if the power glove was somehow involved everyone knows you get random result with it.
@Andrew - Sadly I have to agree, I find it totally impossible to play the SNES version after millions of hours of N64, DS and now Wii version of Mario Kart. It really isn't that playable anymore. It was the shiznitz when it came out - but that alone does not justify why we should want it to be released now.

@Junichi: I know the games made by rare might never see realease, one can dream though. But the others: Mario Party, Goemon (99 % certain release in my opinion), Ogre Battle 64, Star Wars games and Turok 1-2 I see no problems with.

WoRMaSTeR commented on N64 Controller Mod For Virtual Console:
N64 controller is the best ever. Anyone who says they can play N64 games fine with their classic/GC-controller has never played those games with a true N64 controller. The converter is overpriced as you still need to buy a controller separately. Good news in any case.

WoRMaSTeR commented on EU - 6th June - No Virtual Console Games!:
"Middle of July and personally I would rather people stop whining about the problem until then (as ATM I find peoples complaining about the problem more annoying than the problem) but I know a week can't be complete without a grreat debate on the storage issue yawn."
It is kinda hard to stop complaining when I have to delete Virtual Console games just to have enough room to save my Wii games. I just have to wonder how hard it would be to allow playing those games (or saving wii games) to memory card that is allready supported. I'm no code junkie, but in my mind nothing could really be easier, so all I'm thinking that they are not doing it for the sole purpose of coming up with something they can make money out of.
I'm sorry for bringing this up again, I'm just amazed how Nintendo can continue to ignore this... And frankly even my patience has limits.
