I bought the Mutant Machine second hand from a next-door neighbour, and it was my first console ever. As crap and ridiculously difficult this game is, I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
The problem with E3 Press Briefings, is they weren't originally intended for public consumption. They're for press and industry members only - It's only the advent of the Internet that has let non-industry folk see these events. Back in the pre-internet days, you wouldn't even see these briefings mentioned in magazines.
Because these events are now in the public eye, they've become spectacles and have lost sight of their purpose.
Great work as always, Damien. I completely missed out on Super Play (I had a subscription to TOTAL! at the time, and my parents wouldn't get me get another sub for another mag), something which I truly lament.
Anyone know a good place to get digital versions of old issues?
It was a truly magical evening, well worth the price of admission! I longed for some Zelda II/Link's Awakening love, but unfortunately I found myself wanting.
Still, words cannot convey the shock and awe displayed by the audience when Koji Kondo showed up!
@Bass_X0 - That's the problem, if you are going to put one of these lesser titles on the VC, at least back it up with a "prestige" title like a Zelda, Mario or quality third party game. Nintendo don't seem to understand the concept of consistancy with their digital releases.
This is the perfect time for Nintendo to dazzle us with decent VC content, while we are waiting for worthwhile 3DS retail releases and for 3DSWare to take off.
It's a bit worrying to see poor quality VC weeks like this so early in the 3DS' lifespan. I'd hate to see Nintendo jump ship with the 3DS VC like they did with the Wii VC.
Definitely can't complain about 10 free games However I can complain about Nintendo's insistence on sneaking Balloon Fight and Ice Climbers into everything!
This will definitely give me an excuse to play through Zelda 1 & 2 again, although I'm pretty much done with Super Mario Bros. at this point.
Looking forward to the GBA games a lot more then these, so hopefully we'll get an ETA on those soon.
Definitely the pinnacle of Nintendo gaming - They got mostly everything right with the SNES; a phenomenal library consisting of a sublime balance between great first-party and third-party titles, one of the most comfortable and easy to user controllers around, great hardware (especially the brilliant Sony-produced sound chip) and 20 years of fond memories.
We could have done with a bit more RPG love in Europe, but at least we got Secret of Mana - Definately my favourite SNES game, and one of my favourite of all time.
