The 3D effect is extremely disappointing. It's still better than playing in 2D, but do NOT expect the scope and wow factor of lets say RE: Revelations when aiming in first person(with 3D effect set to very strong).....what a wasted opportunity :P

Not to mention and most importantly 'mega man', ghosts 'n goblins, gargoyles quest, vewitiful joe, dino crisis ect.

These days, it's just Street fighter, westernized sell out Resident Evil and monster hunter, with a splash of that mindless boring dead rising junk. Capcom, like konami are sucking pretty hard these days. Both companies are just following the western shooter crazed trend just to make a quick buck.

Anyways, I was a big fan of power stone back on the Dreamcast and Arcade, it's sequel wasn't too shabby either.
As for this, well..i guess it looks pretty decent, need to see more gameplay footage

That's a big punky Brewster Bummer! Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the N3DS XL mainly because of the larger screens and bland ugly exterior design. Using my 3DS Aqua Blue as my main still and will have to return my N3DS XL and get a new one through amazon since my model may have a defect. My Super Stable 3D effect suffers frome frame doubling on the sides of the screens and annoying flicker(unless the flicker is normal) :P

Speaking of the GBA SP, I bought the NES Edition a couple weeks back through eBay! I'd gladly take Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion off your hands hehe. ;) Believe it or not, I still haven't payed those two yet. eek!

@Lalivero

Bigger screens make for a more immersive, grander and enjoyable experience but at the cost of a crappier picture? No thanks. It's not the 3D showcase that the launch 3DS is. The smaller screens provide a sharper, striking and more pronounced 3D effect over the larger pixely blown up screens of the XL and N3DS XL.

Normally I would of passed on N3DS XL, because i owned the regular XL prior to that and knew what i was getting into in regards to the crappier visuals, but I'm a sucker for new Nintendo hand helds and i really wanted to try out all of the new features, especially super stable 3D. :P

@bezerker99

Yo Bezerkazoid' are you enjoying the less crisp, less sharp slightly blown up visuals on this big fat XL screens? :P I'm sure as hell not. I mean the visuals still look good, not as good, but the 3D effect kind of suffers. Doesn't seem quite as striking or as sharp as the smaller screens. Man, I want that sexy standard N3DS, and I will get one the moment Nintendo decides to make it region free.........Which will never happen.lol

Very cool! Except for the anime looking Artwork outside the actual game. Would of been better had the developer went with an 80's, early 90's cartoony nes look, even mimicking the awesome 'n totally rad cheesy box art from that era.

Looking forward to this one! I'm a sucker for horror based retro(in this case fakeretro) games.

Everything Is a rip off of something else? Pikmin seemed pretty damn unique and original to me. Same deal with Elebits for the wii. Just two examples. However those types of games are few and far between.

as for Revy 2, I'm stoked that barry(my favorite RE character) is going to be a returning character, same deal with Claire....But I have an inkling it's going to be worse than the first revelations. Something about it seems....well, rushed.

Would it kill them to bring back those weird random puzzles like in RE1 & RE2? it's nothing but shooting these days.
RE6 was so bad, I just couldn't be bothered to play through it.

@GraveLordXD

Haha, yeah you're right. the majority of PS4/Xboner 1 titles seem to be nothing but glorified interactive movies. With both consoles competing for prettier partical effects and higher resolution. lol at least indies are making straight to the point 'games'

Even Capcom and konami, 2 of my favorite(or was) developers have fallen into the hollywoodized western trap. I find myself playing mostly Nintendo developed games these days. Looking forward to whatever yacht club has in store for us next.

@Mega719
The Wii U definitely has some good indie games like Shovel Knight, Little Inferno, 10001 spikes(ect ect) I'm not saying it doesn't, nor am I saying there aren't any talented indie devs, I'm just saying that it's a little rare when a great indie effort comes around.

For me personally, Dsi ware is the epitome of shovel ware. Wii Ware had tons of junk as well, you really had to sift through it all to get to the good stuff(LostWinds 1 & 2, World of Goo! Mega Man 9, Castlevania: The Adventure ect)

@Mega719
Most indie games are nothing but shovel ware, they mostly rip gameplay mechanics from popular renowned franchises, while managing to do it worse, while drizzling 'their' game in an artsy fartsy lick of paint that typically has 'hipster' written all over it. My fingers are crossed for this one, because again we really need more horror games on this little white box of wonders.

At least Fatal frame is on the way. that will be quality no doubt...Hopefully it will see the light of day outside of japan.

@ShikabaneHime13 @Wilford111

I own 2 aqua blue launch 3DS's, had the Blue XL and now have a N3DS XL, and I agree....the giant screens 'like' the regular XL boast fuzzy, jaggedy', less crisp, blown up visuals which also make the 3D effect look less pronounced, fuzzy and more on the subtle side. I've done several comparisons and I just can't get used to XL's PQ.

I for one can't stand it, and it's this very reason why I'm still using my launch 3DS as my main(besides, I get a bit of a brighter picture by using the charger cable which unlocks the 6th secret brightness. probably the thousanth time I've said this. ;) ) However, the N3DS XL has better contrast vs the original model when both are set to the 5th brightness, so it 'does' have the edge in brightness without the charger, which is nice.

Anyhoo, I'd gladly trade my N3DS XL in for a regular 'black' N3DS.....I want those smaller screens, colorful SNES B,A,Y & X buttons, solid black color scheme(The 3DS XL's dark grey is a little ugly imo), ability to use face plates and the lighter shmexy grey analog stick and C-stick. :P

The N3DS XL almost looks like a product that belongs to the XBOX family. lol
The N3DS looks like it perfectly fits the Nintendo Hand held family. One of the most beautiful hand helds in the Big N's arsenal, just like the aqua blue 3ds imo.

@ShadyKnights

I demand Nintendo to release the standard N3DS because of it's smaller screens which offer a sharper, crisper picture vs the N3DS XL's jaggedy, fuzzy blown up PQ on those large screens which impacts the 3D effect, rendering it fuzzy, jaggedy and blown up looking. It's not as pronounced, crisp or as striking vs the original launch 3DS...., not to mention I prefer the standard N3DS's design with it's colorful SNES face buttons, solid black or white color scheme, light grey analog sticks and ahem....the ability to swap faceplates.

I have the N3DS XL and it's fugly imo, plus I don't like the giant screens based on what I mentioned above.

WaveBoy commented on Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Fac...:

After spending 4 hours with the N3DS XL, I don't even want it. :P
The bigger screens equal less crisp, jaggedy slightly blown up visuals, and because of this the 3D effect doesn't seem quite as sharp or as striking, seems a little more on the subtle side in ways. Plus, the super stable 3D is just not working for me. Maybe my model is defective, but the screen gets all flickery and there's lots of double imaging. I'll get nearly zero use out of the LZ & RZ buttons, along with that silly eraser head nub known as the C-Stick. Also the dark grey color scheme, the dark grey buttons with 'muted' dismal colors for the 4 face button letters and darker analog sticks make the N3DS XL look like a bloody Xbox product. it looks depressing imo and doesn't scream nintnedo.

I'd love to have the regular N3DS for it's smaller screens, face plates, pure black(instead of the ugly dark grey for the N3DS XL) design and colorful SNES face buttons.

As for now, i'll STILL be using the aqua blue 3DS as my main. crisper, sharper visuals + 3D effect, better color temperature(N3DS XL has a greenish warm look to it) and because of the 6th secret 'charger' brightness.

If the N3DS gets released in NA, i'll just sell my N3DS XL and put whatever cash I need towards it!

Because save states are for puny little shadeless raisins. ;)
I'm all for replaying and mastering my retro craft when it comes to the majority, if not all old school games, but Blaster Master just brings my piss to a boil because half the experience imo just isn't really that much fun. I have a love hate relationship with it.

it IS very original though and I was always captivated by the intro cutscene. it's definitely something that sticks with you. have you played the latest blaster master that launched back when WiiWare was all the semi-craze?

I still can't beat the final bosses 2nd form.....And I dread the thought of having to go through the entire tedious grating experience to get to that point again. :P

this game is about a 6-7 for me. it's pretty unique, but incredibly frustrating....It's not fun having to replay this particular game over and over again just to make little pogress. wait until you get to the crab boss, not to mention that ice chucking blue lobster. some of the most irritating bosses to hit the NES period

Who else votes for King Hippo instead? ;) You'd think Sakurai would be puking at the idea of tossing in rayman considering ubisofts complete bail on the Wii U.

3rd party wise, these characters are far more deserving >

Arthur - (ghosts n goblins)
Simon Belmont (Oldschool NES Belmont)
Bomberman
Bill Rizer (Contra)
Ryu Hayabusa (NES gaiden style)
Jimmy lee (Double Dragon)

@XyVoX
Bad news, you can't get the 6th brightness with the regular XL, New 3DS OR New 3DS XL by plugging the charger in. you can only do it with the original 3DS. This is the sole reason why I'm sticking with it as my main. the 5th brightness is dull and murky, especially when you side it with those amazingly bright DS Lite screens. :P 6th brightness makes quite the difference, you should try it out if you have the launch 3DS.

WaveBoy

WaveBoy commented on Rumour: Rayman Could be Planned as DLC in Supe...:

If true, what a waste of a character slot. Simon Belmont, Bill Rizer(Contra) and Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins fame would be far more worthy. Characters that span way back to the beginning of Nintendo consoles.

@MysticX
Super Stable 3D and 2nd analog stick are two biggest reasons for upgrading imo. No to mention the smaller changes like the start & select button chance, single home button, faster processing, cartridge and stylus placements.

Still, I couldn't care less about amiibo and I doubt many games will even utlize the new LZ and RZ buttons.

biggest deal for me would be brighter screens, but I doubt the N3DS XL will be that much brighter than the regular XL's dim screens. What a flipping joke! :P the DS Lite's screens as max brightness were amazing, regular XL? not so much, I didn't enjoy the DimOVision, which is why I switched back to my launch 3DS, and used the charger to unlock the 6th secret brightness.

IF they even decide to release it. I'm not waiting, and if they do decide to release the N3DS i'll just sell my N3DS XL and put whatever I get towards N3DS. :P Personally, I'd rather have the smaller less pixely & crisper screens, face plates, pure black design(where as the N3DS XL is slightly greyish) and solid colored buttons.

@Spoony_Tech

The only reason I'm tempted to get this is because of the stylus FPS controls and the fact that it's the first 3DS FPS in stereoscopic 3D. the negatives brought out in the final paragraph is a recurring staple in renegade kid's games. Mutant Mudds, dementium, Moon(ect)

"Unfortunately the visuals are a bit drab, with repetitive tilesets and enemies that all look the same. The pre-boss fight cutscenes are generic and lack variety"

This also sums up mutant muds in a nut shell....it plays and controls great with a wonderful soundtrack to boot, but the enemies and stage design are extremely bland, cookie cutter and forgettable. It would be interesting to see Wayforward doing their own take on mutant mudds imo

@JoakimZ

Ahhh, I got yea. That was the exact same issue I had with Mario deluxe on the GBC and the the original 2D Rayman for the GBA which is easily the worst offender here.

I've listened to both the SNES & GBA MM&B soundtracks and I've got to say, outside of a few tracks, the GBA takes the crown for me. The SNES's score is more soothing and less hard hitting. I hated the SNES renditions of Astro & king man's stages especially. they were far better on the GBA.

@JoakimZ

Never played the SNES version, what are the differences? I loved MM&B, in fact it's one of my favorite mega man games. It's only real downside would of have to be the soundtrack imo.

There are a few decent tunes in there(one of Kings stages for ex) but most completely fall short in terms of atmosphere and getting you pumped up.

So why isn't this Mutant Mudds 2? I'm not sure I even want to get this now. a 'stepping tone'? this is just another DLC expansion pack rather than a real full fledge sequel. This is just a continuation/extension of the first game.

Outside of secret path ways, the mechanics will be virtually the same i'm sure, no bosses, same controls, and familiar stage design structure + enemies. pass for me. I'm still waiting for Dementium 3 and a true MM sequel. They need to through in bosses and break up the gameplay.

You should at least give the first Dementium for the DS a whirl. That was one DS experience i'll never forget, even if the environments started to get a little repetitive.

Muttant muds, I found was pretty enjoyable(I'd take it over mighty switch force)....even If the enemy design was totally B-grade and cookie cutter, not to mention the fact that there were no bosses which imo hurt the experience.

XeoDrifter(then again, i still need to play metroid fusion & Zero mision which look a million times better) and Moon Chronicles(wouldn't play it if used analog stick aiming controls) both look OK. but at this point I just want to play MM2. :P

Yeah, GMC felt lifeless, had zero charm, the controls were awkward and floaty, the visuals were barren, unappealing(imo) and came off looking like some flash-based videogame that some some cowboy created in his basement. :P

It doesn't do anything original, the lead character is absolutely forgettable, the platforming is bland, the stage design isn't well thought out at all and comes across very amateur...Honestly why would I play this when I can play the far superior Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 9(ok, every single mega man game topples GMC) and every other popular renowned franchise that this game borrows from that does it 10x better.

It doesn't make sense for me, no matter how sleek the price tag is to play something that manages to be inferior both in visuals, charm, stage design and controls to so many of these wonderful classics(Which I can get btw or $5-8 on the VC) that were released years ago....
GMC for me, was a waste of time. I could of spent that 2-3 hours watching The Golden Girls. ;)

So are the screens on the N3DS capable of getting brighter than the original 3DS or original XL? I only use my original 3DS with the charger plugged in to get the secret 6th brightness, there's no way I can go back to the 5th, it's too dim for my liking and makes the games look dull and lifeless. :P
