Nice for those that want better quality, but i'll stick with composite or RF and an 80's Tube TV for full nostalgic effect!

As for NES games being dark on the Wii & Wii U VC? I've been complaining about this for years now. To somewhat combat this issue, you basically have to max the color, contrast and raise the back light and maybe brightness to get a closer effect based on how it's supposed to really look. even then, it's not up to snuff.

WaveBoy commented on Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Is Skipping E3...:

I can't stand Iwata either....Every single Nintendo Direct has him in front of some bland white back drop where he's standing stiffer than the nut cracker spewing out monotone unexciting NintenDribble.

Reggie & miyamoto are far more interesting and exciting to listen to imo.

WaveBoy commented on Video: We Tackle The Dual-Stick vs. Motion Con...:

Can't stand twin stick aiming, every since I've experienced Metroid prime 3(being the staple example), including silent Hill: Shattered memories(flash light controls) ect ect I cannot go back.

Twin stick aiming was always clunky & baffling, doesn't feel natural or intuitive at all.

WaveBoy commented on Review: Paper Mario (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64):

I loved Super Paper Mario back on the that little whimsical wii of white wonders, even IF it was ridiculously heavy on the text. I have a copy of PM:Thousand Year-End door but have yet to play it. I keep telling myself i'll get around to it some day, but I'd rather just start out with Paper Paper Mario 64 and ease my way into the sequel.....eventually. I think I've been saying that for years no. :P

WaveBoy commented on Video: Let's Remind Ourselves How Totally Radi...:

Love, love LOVE the fashion of the mid to late 80's. Early 'early' 90's were RAD in their own right. These days? Hisper beards, dark clothing and boring styled hair cuts aplenty. I think fashion is at it's all time worst and easily the most boring.... wasn't a fan of the late 90's either. Back then people dressed FUN. big hair, colorful clothing, jean jackets & Mullets for the win baby. ;)

WaveBoy commented on Former Castlevania Producer Koji Igarashi's Ki...:

Bummer! Still, it's great to see a spritial followup to the 2D castlevania series considering Konami have westerned the shnizzle out of the original series and completely abandoned 2D.

I've beaten all of the 2D castlevania games with the exception of the SNES version of ROB/aka Dracula X and Castlevania: Chronicles for the PS1. the latter is extremely expensive on eBay which is currently trickling over $100 koopa coins

WaveBoy commented on Video: Here Is The Trailer For The Delayed Wii...:

eh...I'll pass. The platforming looks extremely generic, stiff and borrrring just like the majority of every other indie platformer out there. :*
if anything, the environments look pretty, but what does it matter when the core game play looks borrring.

WaveBoy commented on Mega Man & Bass Kickstarts "Mega May" On Wii U...:

Great game! In ways, superior to MM8....But I just can't forgive it's lack luster soundtrack. There are a few good tunes, sure...But the majority are easily some of the series worst and most forgettable. this is where mega man 8 has the advantage IMO. :P

Even if MM8's unusual(compared to the rest of the MM games) ambient score sounds as if you're being transported to a an all you can eat Japanese bubble gum techno-vacation Spa. :O

I've got this on cart for the GBA, but I'd also love love love to have this in VC form.....Sup!

WaveBoy commented on Hardware Classics: Sega Dreamcast:

The DC quite possibly had one of the best gaming launches around...
Sonic Adventure, PowerStone, House of the Dead 2, Blue Stinger and Soul Calibur 2 crushed the uuber lame launch lineup of the PS2.

The controller was really neat, as was the console design and the VMU was cutting edge. I loved the DC during its launch, but afterwards it started to lose steam and the new releases became less and less interesting.

WaveBoy commented on Review: 3D Ecco The Dolphin (3DS eShop):

just downloaded 3D ecco the dolphin earlier today and I too just cannot get into it. we've been spoiled by the higher quality of SNES games. :P Genesis games are of less quality from the limited darker grimier color palette, scratchy gargling SFX and often weird satanic blurpy voodoo tunes. Ecco's sountrack really put me off big time, aside from the clunky controls...

I still have a genesis laying around but I doubt i'll even collect for it. Oh and I also nearly finished 3D shinobi III, but I honestly wasn't really enjoying it. it's a far cry from the brilliant Ninja gaiden NES games!

WaveBoy commented on Retrospective: Sega's Streets of Rage Series:

I'm with you. I vastly prefer the final fight games and this is coming from somebody who grew up playing all 3 SOR games during their releases... SOR felt like an 8-bit game with lack luster visuals that weren't even pushing 16-bit.

the atmosphere was a little too dark and depressing for my tastes and the SFX was just scratchy and grating like most genesis games. Nostalgia hits me hard with this one, but I've honestly grown to hate it.

Although for me, the soundtrack will forever be brilliant. As was SOR2's, a sequel that made a big leap in the visual department and added more meat to the gameplay. Still it didn't have the same impact on me that the original did....SOR 2 was good, but i'd still take Final Fight. SOR3? just awful....I'm not even going to get into that one.

Nostalgia forced me to download '3D' streets of rage on the 3DS's eShop and I already regret it. I'd rather have a 3D Final Fight. :P
I'll take TMNT II: The Arcade game(my personal favorite), Turtles in Time, Super Double Dragon and Final Fight 1-3 any day of the week!

WaveBoy commented on Treasurenauts:

Yeah, this game flew right off the radar. Seems like renegade kid is focused on releasing Dementium: remastered and mutant muds super challenge

WaveBoy commented on Video: See for Yourself How 200cc Speed Affect...:

This was the only real issue I had with the Mario kart series....the lack of speed, even at 150cc...Well, that and the pesky blue shell. 200c should give this series the boost in speed it desperately needed! too bad its not being applied to MK7 :P

WaveBoy commented on Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st...:

200cc Mario kart mode(awesome! finally! the boost in speed the series desperately need IMO), MK8 DLC, Yoshi yarn amiibos & Lucas character SSB DCL. yup....that's about it for me.

I couldn't care less about all of this xenoblades & Fire emblem stuff. Still not excited for Mario Maker(never been a fan of customizable level editor based video games) and splatoon is splatoon. Looks fun, but it doesnèt have me jumping up and down like Frogger full of froggy pudding. :P

Overall the direct was pretty unexciting, with a few nice touches.

WaveBoy commented on Review: BOXBOY! (3DS eShop):

No thanks. the visuals put me off harder than a bowl of rotten Rainbow bright cereal. Shame on you HAL for creating the most visually appalling eShop title. I hate minimalist design choices such as this, the entire thing looks borderline lifeless.

WaveBoy commented on LastFight Looks Like The Power Stone Sequel Ca...:

Not to mention and most importantly 'mega man', ghosts 'n goblins, gargoyles quest, vewitiful joe, dino crisis ect.

These days, it's just Street fighter, westernized sell out Resident Evil and monster hunter, with a splash of that mindless boring dead rising junk. Capcom, like konami are sucking pretty hard these days. Both companies are just following the western shooter crazed trend just to make a quick buck.

Anyways, I was a big fan of power stone back on the Dreamcast and Arcade, it's sequel wasn't too shabby either.
As for this, well..i guess it looks pretty decent, need to see more gameplay footage

WaveBoy commented on Nintendo Held Back Western Launch Of New 3DS D...:

That's a big punky Brewster Bummer! Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the N3DS XL mainly because of the larger screens and bland ugly exterior design. Using my 3DS Aqua Blue as my main still and will have to return my N3DS XL and get a new one through amazon since my model may have a defect. My Super Stable 3D effect suffers frome frame doubling on the sides of the screens and annoying flicker(unless the flicker is normal) :P

Speaking of the GBA SP, I bought the NES Edition a couple weeks back through eBay! I'd gladly take Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion off your hands hehe. ;) Believe it or not, I still haven't payed those two yet. eek!

WaveBoy commented on Nintendo Held Back Western Launch Of New 3DS D...:

Bigger screens make for a more immersive, grander and enjoyable experience but at the cost of a crappier picture? No thanks. It's not the 3D showcase that the launch 3DS is. The smaller screens provide a sharper, striking and more pronounced 3D effect over the larger pixely blown up screens of the XL and N3DS XL.

Normally I would of passed on N3DS XL, because i owned the regular XL prior to that and knew what i was getting into in regards to the crappier visuals, but I'm a sucker for new Nintendo hand helds and i really wanted to try out all of the new features, especially super stable 3D. :P

WaveBoy commented on Nintendo Held Back Western Launch Of New 3DS D...:

Yo Bezerkazoid' are you enjoying the less crisp, less sharp slightly blown up visuals on this big fat XL screens? :P I'm sure as hell not. I mean the visuals still look good, not as good, but the 3D effect kind of suffers. Doesn't seem quite as striking or as sharp as the smaller screens. Man, I want that sexy standard N3DS, and I will get one the moment Nintendo decides to make it region free.........Which will never

WaveBoy commented on Zombie Incident Aims to Infest the 3DS With an...:

Very cool! Except for the anime looking Artwork outside the actual game. Would of been better had the developer went with an 80's, early 90's cartoony nes look, even mimicking the awesome 'n totally rad cheesy box art from that era.

Looking forward to this one! I'm a sucker for horror based retro(in this case fakeretro) games.

WaveBoy commented on Indie Title Bizerta: Silent Evil is Stalking i...:

Everything Is a rip off of something else? Pikmin seemed pretty damn unique and original to me. Same deal with Elebits for the wii. Just two examples. However those types of games are few and far between.

as for Revy 2, I'm stoked that barry(my favorite RE character) is going to be a returning character, same deal with Claire....But I have an inkling it's going to be worse than the first revelations. Something about it seems....well, rushed.

Would it kill them to bring back those weird random puzzles like in RE1 & RE2? it's nothing but shooting these days.
RE6 was so bad, I just couldn't be bothered to play through it.

WaveBoy commented on Indie Title Bizerta: Silent Evil is Stalking i...:

Haha, yeah you're right. the majority of PS4/Xboner 1 titles seem to be nothing but glorified interactive movies. With both consoles competing for prettier partical effects and higher resolution. lol at least indies are making straight to the point 'games'

Even Capcom and konami, 2 of my favorite(or was) developers have fallen into the hollywoodized western trap. I find myself playing mostly Nintendo developed games these days. Looking forward to whatever yacht club has in store for us next.

WaveBoy commented on Indie Title Bizerta: Silent Evil is Stalking i...:

The Wii U definitely has some good indie games like Shovel Knight, Little Inferno, 10001 spikes(ect ect) I'm not saying it doesn't, nor am I saying there aren't any talented indie devs, I'm just saying that it's a little rare when a great indie effort comes around.

For me personally, Dsi ware is the epitome of shovel ware. Wii Ware had tons of junk as well, you really had to sift through it all to get to the good stuff(LostWinds 1 & 2, World of Goo! Mega Man 9, Castlevania: The Adventure ect)

WaveBoy commented on Indie Title Bizerta: Silent Evil is Stalking i...:

Most indie games are nothing but shovel ware, they mostly rip gameplay mechanics from popular renowned franchises, while managing to do it worse, while drizzling 'their' game in an artsy fartsy lick of paint that typically has 'hipster' written all over it. My fingers are crossed for this one, because again we really need more horror games on this little white box of wonders.

At least Fatal frame is on the way. that will be quality no doubt...Hopefully it will see the light of day outside of japan.

WaveBoy commented on Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Fac...:

@ShikabaneHime13 @Wilford111

I own 2 aqua blue launch 3DS's, had the Blue XL and now have a N3DS XL, and I agree....the giant screens 'like' the regular XL boast fuzzy, jaggedy', less crisp, blown up visuals which also make the 3D effect look less pronounced, fuzzy and more on the subtle side. I've done several comparisons and I just can't get used to XL's PQ.

I for one can't stand it, and it's this very reason why I'm still using my launch 3DS as my main(besides, I get a bit of a brighter picture by using the charger cable which unlocks the 6th secret brightness. probably the thousanth time I've said this. ;) ) However, the N3DS XL has better contrast vs the original model when both are set to the 5th brightness, so it 'does' have the edge in brightness without the charger, which is nice.

Anyhoo, I'd gladly trade my N3DS XL in for a regular 'black' N3DS.....I want those smaller screens, colorful SNES B,A,Y & X buttons, solid black color scheme(The 3DS XL's dark grey is a little ugly imo), ability to use face plates and the lighter shmexy grey analog stick and C-stick. :P

The N3DS XL almost looks like a product that belongs to the XBOX family. lol
The N3DS looks like it perfectly fits the Nintendo Hand held family. One of the most beautiful hand helds in the Big N's arsenal, just like the aqua blue 3ds imo.
