@Crunc

The anniversary collections are nice to have as you get to play all of the games, but for me, the button scheme on the GC version ruined it for me. The Xbox version was good but playing the games with the Wii Remote is the closest simulation to playing it on the NES. Those arcade releases are horrible if you haven't played them.

I agree that the sound of the charged Mega Buster gets really annoying, but it's not like you have to charge your shot. People put too much emphasis on the bosses rather than the whole game. Some of the levels are quite challenging and the bosses are fairly hard except for Toad Man and Dust Man. Ring, Toad, and Dive Man's stages all had mini bosses which were done nicely. I think every tune in this game is really well done. What gets people upset is that there isn't a password to go straight to Wily in either of last three NES titles.

To continue Zinjak's statement, none of the weapons are any good in that game. It's the only game in the series where I purposely don't use any of the weapons unless it's the only way. Aside from Gravity Man's stage, every level is bland and repetitive.

I've never heard Mega Man 4 called the worst. That honor always goes to 6. If anything, it's the least talked about game in the series. I'm getting more curious about the DSi but I'm worried that if I get one now something new will come out by next Christmas. And you tackle Toad Man first.

For three bucks, there isn't much to complain about but I agree that both are lackluster. Why didn't they include the double jump for Bass? I do like how anything shielded gets deshielded when shot enough times.

This game is bizarre. I have to say this is by far the hardest Mario game out there. @plankton: I think ten years passing should be considered retro, and this came out in 2002 so you have a couple years of youth left :)

Wardy commented on Review: Perfect Dark (Nintendo 64):

This is my favorite N64 game. I played Goldeneye into the ground, but this game was so much more fun. It didn't have to follow a movie so that was pretty cool. Weapons like the laptop gun were more fun to use in multi player than even proximity mines. There's more strategy involved in Perfect Dark too. The N64 gets crapped on a lot, but this is one of the best games ever, and I still play it today on my old console.

I constantly browse ebay and local shops looking for GB games. I have more rare GB games than any other collection of games I own. Mega Man V and the Turtles games are awesome. I actually liked how short some of the action games were. You were traveling so you didn't have time to play all day and I'd always get sick playing in the car.

I own this on the SNES and was wondering if the Neo Geo version has better controls. I like the game a lot but it's extremely difficult to pull off even basic moves. Forget about pulling off a special move.

Wardy commented on Bass Coming to Mega Man 10:

With all the tricks Bass has, I still found him incredibly difficult to use in Mega Man & Bass. Not being able to charge a shot is kinda annoying but I guess I just have to get used to him. It should come to nobody's surprise that Bass was the DLC character. Everyone thinks that Zero or X are going to make an appearance but I can't see Capcom crossing the two...three (?) series' together like that.

Wardy commented on Rare NES Game Sells for $41,300 on eBay:

Holy hell Zimm! That asshat's game is up over 800K and he's still charging six dollars shipping! My whole family is either getting their hours cut or have been laid off and there's people out there shelling out that kind of cash for a video game they will never play. Does this sicken anyone else?

The Wii suffers from more than just bad games. Online play is the new wave of gaming and it seems like there is little support. I don't play online so I could be wrong. I think the controller limits what can be done too. Metroid Corruption is a great game but my wrist is killing me after 90 minutes of playing. The gripe with Nintendo over the years is that it's a kid's toy. There can be a balance. Not every game has to have gore in it, but some explosive action games would be nice. Yes, there have been bad games throughout time, but nothing interesting is coming out. Some of the games I see in the stores make me wonder who would buy this crap. I like the ReBirth's and all that, but it would be nice to see some franchises get the "Mega Man 9" treatment for lack of a better term. Produce some new 8 and 16 bit games to draw in the people in their 20's and 30's. Why is Nintendo always a step behind the industry standard? I own every Nintendo home console, but only own a GC and Wii for the first party games. I'd like to see the quality control be stepped up as well.

Some of those weapons look like they are from the X Series (Chameleon Sting) and whatever Wheel Gator's weapon is called.

Most people are critical of 4-6. Everyone loves 3, including me, but it's way too easy because of the excessive amounts of E-Tanks and 1-ups. No matter what people say, 4 is going to be a hot download because fans who were introduced to the series through the VC will be curious and those who have played it in the past will want it.

Second best of the original six imo. The gameboy version is awesome. Why aren't there any gameboy games on the VC?

Mega Man 4 is the only original series game I remember seeing commercials for when I was a kid. My local rental shop made a big deal about it and you had to pre-order your rental. This game was a big deal in '91.

Wardy commented on Japanese Virtual Console list - February 2010:

I don't understand how MM4 gets considered the weakest in the series. Ring Man, Pharaoh Man, Dive Man and Drill Man can be fairly difficult to be with just the buster, I personally liked every song and the Cossack levels weren't terribly long to complain about not having a password to go straight to Wily. I thought 5 was the most forgettable of the series if you can even say that about a Mega Man game. I didn't care for the tunes as much and the some stages dragged on a little too much. People will say to just buy the Anniversary collection but if you only have a Gamecube the controls are terrible. I also like not having to get off the couch to play certain games. I'm lazy.

Pump Man doesn't seem very evil since he cleans up the crime of others. Strike Man sounds like a prick. The screen shots of Solar Man's level look awfully similar to Fire Man's and I'm not just referring to the flaming heads. From some of the new video that is out, this game looks pretty intense. I hope they upped the difficulty from MM9 as it's difficulty was near perfect.

Wardy commented on Review: Final Fight 3 (Virtual Console / Super...:

All three of the Final Fight games were great, and this one ranks slightly lower than the second one only because of the slowdown issues. Nostalgia plays a big part for me in my take on games. Regardless, the Final Fight games are some of the best games the SNES has to offer.

Wardy commented on Talking Point: Are Rereleases Killing the Retr...:

All of us that have commented are gamers and the consensus is that we would rather play games than not play games. Sounds stupid but like everyone is suggesting, why should we pay 50 bucks for Final Fight 3? People who buy games at the end of the systems lifespan have been lucky to get rare games because people wait for the new systems, but the ones who keep buying til the end are real gamers and collectors and should view it as such, not as a means to make money. If I ever have kids, I would like them to experience the NES and SNES but my NES works when it feels like it, even after changing the 72 pin connector, and my SNES has a major crack in it. Hardware breaks down, software typically doesn't. The video game industry is trying to keep retro gaming alive. Our parents told us about their vinyls and 8 track; those have been replaced with CD's and MP3's and technology has kept alive the music our parents loved and grew up with. This is no different.

Wardy commented on Review: Banjo-Kazooie (Nintendo 64):

Many reviews I found online comparing this game with Tooie say that the latter is better, but I disagree. Partially I think it's because I played this game when it came out thus creating a nostalgia for me and I didn't play Tooie until about a year ago, but Tooie seemed to be very sluggish and it wasn't as straight forward as this game. I have to designate a huge chunk of time and build up a ton of energy to play Tooie and it's not worth it. This is my favorite N64 game and in my top 5 of all time.

This game was in every pizza joint and arcade in northern California in the early 90's. Absolutely love this game. Walk in a door, get laid, have a drink, all in 0.7 seconds. That's my kind of day.

This game should go on the VC Arcade. My friends and I played the arcade version for hours and to say it won't hold your attention is not true. The increase in difficulty is perfect and a lot of fun.

Wardy commented on Mega Man 10 Set for March 2010:

Capcom could put out 30 more of these and I would buy every one of them. Twenty years later and I'm still not tired of the series. I personally won't use easy mode but if it gets people into the series I'm all for it. I take it most people didn't download the superhero mode for MM9.
