It's actually telling how empty Nintendo's release schedule is at the moment that the poor guys at Nintendolife have to even bother reviewing like this. I feel sorry for you all. You're getting paid (presumably), but that isn't the point. Having to play a bad game is misery in itself, but one that looks as terrible as this, especially given the La Mulana situation, really is diabolical. Tagline made me do a LOL, which is more than can be said for the game.

FE has a habit of getting critical hits at vital moments in typical Nintendo fashion. I really do dislike it. A new Tactics Ogre would be much better but Square seems too wrapped up in making everything reek of Phoenix Downs and bad FMV to bother.

Reala: Dig Dug is great, one of my favourite early 80s games, you really should, if you can get past the sadism of it all. Check out the videogame vault video on screwattack for a fairly accurate assessment.
Wonder if Wii Uno will be allowed to become the perverse meat market the 360 one is.

Vertigo commented on Review: Contra ReBirth (WiiWare):
Ricardo91: I would definitely advise you to try out Contra 3 on the SNES. It's the high point of the series for me, followed closely by the first one. I didn't enjoy Contra 4 due to the cramped controls and DS screen gap. Were it on a big screen system I would probably have liked it more. Contra Rebirth is definitely worth $10 though and if you have $8 more, download Contra 3 as well.

I haven't yet been killed by anything I couldn't see. The bullets are brightly-coloured and glowy. Idiots. Conveniently, I have recently cancelled my subscription to NGamer anyway, it wasn't doing much for me.

Both, surely, it's a matter of 8 dollars.

Played it for a little while, credit fed up to level 3.
The game itself is ok although levels feel short and it doesn't have the inventiveness of Contra 3.
The popcorn enemy design is so very bland and everything looks quite chunky, even though there's double the resolution to play with.
All a bit odd really, but it's still Contra and it's not broken by having 3D bits that may or may not be deadly depending on the angle.
From what I've played so far, Contra 3 plays and looks better, even with half the resolution

I've tried + 1 and 2 together on the title screen and the 1P/2P/Options menu screen and it doesn't work for me. US version. Anyone?

Just for you Aussies, I lived in Australia for 2 years 03-05, often a game that was available in English (in America) would come out in Australia far before Europe on XBox, because it didn't need to be translated into over 9000 different languages, which was a really good thing. I don't know why the UK is still seen as too small a market to make a region of UK, Australia and NZ and keep mainland Europe seperate. However, I noticed that Australian salaries were generally 2/3-3/4 of UK salaries for the same job due to lower cost of living at the time, yet games cost the equivalent of the higher UK price point and always stuck at a set conversion rate i.e. 2.5xUK. $100 (£40) for a new console game, $80 (£32) for a new GBA/DS game. Really ridiculous, so I feel your pain and it was no surprise to me that the de facto standard in Australia among people I knew tended to be to pirate games. This is also another reason why I got a US console, more often than not (except in Nintendo's online case it seems!), you get what you want in English first and if the exchange rate is favourable it's often cheaper.

Sooo... Nintendo... Squaresoft... WHERE IS IT??
And while we're on the subject, where the hell is Contra Rebirth?

Were you drunk when you wrote "Xevious ... being one of the first games to use 3D rendered sprites giving it a slick look when it debuted at arcades in 1982"?
Its sprites are no more 3D rendered than this web page.

8? Wow. Might have to rethink this one, my Interestometer was at zero when I saw how it worked, but you lot don't tend to give out 8s for games that are meh.

More than half the price of a shop-bought game and probably quite a lot of blocks. Why don't they just expand the concept and release it full price on DS?

Worth buying if you're a fan of the genre?

Oh well, downloaded Bubble Bobble Plus and played for a while and not happy with it. The logic isn't right in some places and if you're used to the arcade one, there are a few things that aren't right that should be, like enemy timings, bubble grouping and the slightly slippery controls. Taito really shouldn't be getting something like this wrong, but they are owned by Square so anything's possible. Taito, if in doubt, stick it on Virtual Arcade. At least it was only $6 and space I can clear off my Wii, doubt I'll redownload it.

"You can only configure one option in the VC version - The amount of lives you get per credit."
In all fairness, that is the only gameplay-related option on the arcade board, so not really any sort of criticism worth mentioning.

Vertigo commented on Review: The Tower of Druaga (Arcade):
Graphical header says "moderately popular", article says "moderately infamous". I'd go with the 2nd one. Not sure why they've released Namco's impossigame on VC when there are other better ones to be had.

Corbie: "We've got to pay for our Ferraris and Penthouse apartments, now don't we?"
True, true, I mean whatever works really, I'm just not a fan of that whole Windows XP rounded edges look really. Still the same content, perhaps even better, so whatever. And tbh I wasn't even aware there was a sister DS site anyway, so that's good, although I have zero interest in DSi but the VC bit interests me.

Hmm... the graphics improve when you're playing better, so does the audio, you have to catch as many beats as possible and hit a transition beat to move to the next zone... Rez in 2D?
