I've been really tempted to get this game since it was released but I have been waiting for NLife's review. I think this might have persuaded me to buy it!

Var commented on Sakamoto Wants to Know Your Metroid: Other M T...:

I enjoyed Other M very much and continue to do so, however I do not want all Metroid games to follow suit and I'm sure most people will have a similar opinion.
Although Metroid Other M certainly has a lot to offer, it also diverges from the tried and tested (and dare I say critically acclaimed) play style and story progression of other games in the series...most in fact.
So although I would like features from Other M to be brought forward (I for one am a fan of Overblasts and Lethal Strikes to name a few) if this 'direction' involves much more highly story driven gameplay for all future titles I believe it wouldn't be the right direction to take.

I'm really holding out my hopes that this (as well as Sonic 4) will be good (great?) games.
I used to be quite the fan of the blue blur however the last release that caught my interest was Sonic Rush and even that somewhat disappointed. I am very much looking forward to a return to form as I'm sure a lot of other people are.

Var commented on Metroid:

After having played through Other M after its recent release I went back to play through 'other m'etroid games again. One of them being the original which I had never completed before or ever got close to completion.

I found once I got past the hang ups of going back to 30 life when you die/reset and there being no map (internet saves the day) I found it a much more enjoyable game to play than I had initially found it to be; and the fact that it is so damn awkward etc makes it even more rewarding when you actually begin to make progress with it.

I wouldn't advise it, however if you are willing to get used to its pitfalls and give yourself a hand by getting a map readily available then for some...it might be enjoyable.

There is no doubt this is one of my favourite Zelda games, I replay it yearly and enjoy it every time!

If you're sitting on the fence as to whether play this game or not, I could not advise it anymore that Corbie already has...but I would advise getting the DX version, the colour makes it that bit more enjoyable!

Var commented on 3DS Unlikely to Feature Achievements System:

I'm personally pro achievments. I can see some games where they would be virtually pointless, however there are many games...much less linear games where achievements would be beneficial.

Without achievements I would usually go through a game complete it and be done with it for a few years or what not (depending on the game of course) however with achievements that stray from the main story I find it more interesting to come back to the games and try to fully complete them or discover them.

Best example I can give (due to not owning many games on my 360) is Batman Arkham Asylum; without achievements I'd have gone through the story and possibley done some challenge mode missions but thats about it. With achievements I went back after completing it to do the Riddler riddles which I wouldn't have felt the desire to do otherwise.

One particular Nintendo franchise I could imagine that would benefit quite a lot from achievements is Metroid. There is so much room for things to do (read: item %, secret items etc) and to not do (read: speed runs, low % runs, low map discovery etc).

'there's no sign of .... Pokémon Black and White'

This gives me hope that Pokémon Black and White are in fact for the 3DS and with the more 3D-esque graphics we've seen on the early screens that would seem to make sense.

I cannot fathom the words to describe how amazed I am at the launch titles, and the fact they are releasing Ocarina of Time on it is just...beyond words.
I always wanted OoT and MM on DS but am I ever glad they are releasing OoT on 3DS, portable Ocarina with improved graphics! YES PLEASE!

Var commented on E3 2010: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword:

Loving the graphical style, puts it out there as different to both TP and WW rather than making it seem like its trying to be what they weren't.
I'm interested about the inclusion of the Bow and the Slingshot however, I thought this Zelda game was trying to strip down the items that were never used to instead have core items that would be used much more.
