The Wicked Child is absolutely mesmerizing. I am brought back to my childhood and rainy days spent indoors playing NES for hours.
Here's hoping for Vol. 2!

UpstateHyrule commented on Nintendo Power Magazine Looks Set to Shut Down:
Nintendo Power was absolutely essential for any NES kid who wanted to claim supremacy on the playground at their elementary school. The maps and codes were treated like currency.
I've been there for the entire run and although it saw some lean times, things had been gotten better with the retro/nostalgia features that the current staff incorporated into the magazine. It was nice seeing other people who had read it when they were younger keep the Power going for the next generation.

@rjejr I am in complete agreement with you. The inability to actually tell what year that the Surveys expire is baffling. Luckily, I wrote down all of mine a while ago for tracking purposes.
I imagine that it's because because of two things:
a) don't want people sitting on Surveys until 2015 and
b) all new Post-Play Surveys expire in a matter of months, not years

@Ryno Looking at my copy of Volume 1, the back flap of the book lists 4 volumes for the History of Nintendo series.
Vol.1: 1880-1980 From playing cards to Game & Watch
Vol.2: The Game & Watch games, an amazing invention
Vol.3: The NES/Famicom
Vol.4: The Game Boy series

@StarDust: Looking at my copy, the back flap of the book lists 4 volumes to date for the History of Nintendo series.
Vol.1: 1880-1980 From playing cards to Game & Watch
Vol.2: The Game & Watch games, an amazing invention
Vol.3: The NES/Famicom
Vol.4: The Game Boy series
I want to thank Nintendo Life for bringing this series to my attention. While the cost is steep (£24.99 = $40 US), the free shipping helps ease the sting. The book itself is a high-quality print with a nice plastic jacket that will not wither away over time. If someone is a collector of Nintendo or retro games, I would highly recommend it.

@zeeroid Thanks for the clarification. It had seemed odd to me at the time.

I too am a Club Nintendo junkie. I don't go out of my way to buy games but I do make sure to get every bit of extra coins (Intend to Purchase, Early Registration) that they have. And I'm sitting on surveys that don't expire until 2014 at the latest.
Has anyone else noticed that VC downloads for the 3DS are now showing up as Product Registration surveys and expiring in 7 days, instead of Post Play surveys that have several months? I know that the expiration dates were shortened earlier this year but this new change is news to me. It must have happened somewhere between Gargoyle's Quest and Super Mario Land 2.

Really?
People are upset that a space shooter starring a fox, rabbit, falcon, and frog who defend a galaxy from an evil monkey in their awesome fighter jets is being released on a Sunday which happens to be September 11?

For anyone interested in an overseas subscription:
A deal can be found through Imagine Publishing's site for a 13 issue order at only £50.00. Not sure what it translates to in the current US dollars (I got mine five months ago) but it's much better than shelling out $10/issue at Barnes and Nobles.
