@Mqblank Let's not get hasty. We haven't actually seen all the offerings for the other consoles and the exclusives, so let's not jump the gun on who is winning E3 just yet.

I live in a very rural area of the country, so the cloud gaming ability is not something I would call "viable" for my internet service. I can game online, but my internet speeds are unreliable at best. Most of the features they showed today really just don't have the "unplugged" feel to them that I need in order to buy a "gaming console". E3 is going to be interesting, since almost no games were shown today.

@rjejr I'm american and I don't give a darn about anything pertaining to sports...period. So none of today's announcements were enticing me into the X1.

I just got done watching the Xbox One reveal and I'm noticing a distinct lack of gaming in the reveal. It seems that M$ is looking to capitalize more on the "smart TV" thing than to actually bring gamers more, new, gaming experiences. I like some of the stuff from the reveal, but the lack of games and the direction of the console to be more of a tv/movie hub is a real deal breaker for me, plus I don't give a hoot about anything having to do with sports. I will keep a close eye on what new IPs they are bringing to the console though.

@dazzleshell that's a console issue. I would go ahead and schedule a RO with Nintendo to get that thing fixed while it's under warranty.

I really feel that Nintendo has made themselves much more available to the indie developers this time around, with the Wii U and 3DS getting a lot of indie support.
I would rather play an indie game that invites me to discover something new in gaming that I haven't experienced before, than just play another iteration in a tired shooter franchise!

It seems, and I hate to say this, that Ubisoft is the only 3rd party dev fully supporting the Wii U. The lack of DLC for multiple games on the Wii U is driving me bonkers!!! They said that "yes, there will be DLC for the Wii U." it is printed on the back of the game's case, same with CoD BLOPs2 on the Wii U... look on the back of the case in the bottom left corner and it will say something to the extent of additional content available soon. I'm sick of this 3rd party waiting game crap! I love the Wii U and all of the gaming possibilities that it allows, but I'm sick of these 3rd party devs being so snobby toward the Wii U when it comes to DLC! You can't expect a repeat of Wii sales on a new console that has had no advertising management done for the thing, the console sales for Wii U will increase, but they aren't willing to give those that already adopted the Wii U the benefit of the doubt that they hold in such high regard! Quit doubting a Nintendo product and give it's consumers and yours what they desire!!!

@Sonicfan11589 That would be a welcome set of ideas. Even though MK7 set the stage for the ideas implemented in SaASRT, with the underwater races and hang gliders used in MK7. We will have to wait and see.

@WiiLovePeace I do hope they harken back to the "Double Dash" style, at least as a local multiplayer option. Or Dual Gamepads... That would be sweet!!

That's disheartening. One of the top designers for the company that put forth the console basically says "If you see a Wii U and play it you might like it, then again you won't like it right away." I just want Nintendo as a company to show more determination when it comes to the Wii U and I'm sure we will see that determination at E3!

+10 for the Wii U Kiosk Comment! That thing just sits hidden in the corner of my local stores with no playable demos on the thing! Yet there are plenty of playable demos on the eShop? If you want the thing to succeed show people what it can do via actual interaction and not just videos of games on the thing.

I am too. I just really hope it isn't announcements about release dates for games we already know of and are anticipating. I think we might even see the unveiling of the 2 gamepads on one console being used at this years E3, which would be great to see! I'm interested to see what Nintendo can bring to the floor.

And the reason for this is lack of advertising and lack of first party support for the console! We have seen how many games released by Nintendo, or even announced since the official launch of the Wii U?? Not many 1st party titles, when the creators aren't supporting the device how do you expect the community and consumers to support it, or Big Devs for that matter? Give us something more than empty promises and 3DS updates! We want something substantial that says, "Yes, we fully support the Wii U beyond it's initial launch." I know we are gonna have to wait til E3 to see what Nintendo has up their "sleeves", but full on radio silence since the ND that showed "X" is darn near ridiculous! And then they try to calm the storm with an announcement that a "launch window title" will be released in August! Come on Nintendo quit treating us this way. We want to play great and innovative games on your console and what 3rd parties are doing so far is AWESOME, but all 3rd parties wait for Nintendo to release their titles and then they play off of the "ok, that's what Nintendo is doing... How do we do something different on the same hardware and really wow people?" mentality. At least Indie Devs are jumping on board! This means we will have some really interesting things to play on the Wii U, but we still need something substantial beyond this. I'm just hoping that Nintendo get their Wii U act together and soon. I love my 3DS, but this is getting ridiculous for my Wii U.

More indies just means that more AAA titles will be developed on the platform since they will most likely become larger than indie if they succeed. This is great news for Nintendo fans, such as myself!

@TheAdza-- Totally agree with you on this one! And I do actually think that there home console efforts are better as well. Great examples Xenoblade for Wii, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower... Great games that have done well since a western translation.

The XL isn't really all that "portable" anyway. Why would the size of this thing play into it's portability? If you carry your XL in your pocket you damage the rubber "bumpers" that keep the screen from getting scratched by the flawed touchscreen design (raised lip around the touchscreen). Had a big problem with this on my original 3DS, don't want the same problem on my 3DSXL. So it doesn't travel in my pocket anyway. Buy a carrying case for the thing and get a good sized one, then the problem of size doesn't matter.

@Faruko - I actually took my DS lite apart and then opened the R button took it apart and replaced the TINY little metal "button" inside it and it never had a problem after that... prior to my own fix I had sent it into Nintendo for repairs 4 times. Metroid Prime: Hunters ravaged my R button on the original DS Lite. Haven't had a single problem out of my 3DS or 3DSXL and I like the feel of the CPP so I will probably get the CPPXL... I have big hands and it feels more comfortable with the added girth of the CPP.

@gundam00 - The only problem with that mentality is that it causes huge financial strains on the devs of a game. The low cost of apps for Smart phones/tablets/iPods and the like has killed the consumer market and made all consumers think that games should be "super cheap" or FTP and that model kills the industry and kills devs desire to make new IPs and make full fledged AAA titles when a FTP title akin to it will be coming out 6 months after it's release. Seriously, 10.99 is not a bad price for a game that has as much content as this one does, the lowest it can be priced on the eSHop anyway is 1.99 which is still 1.00 higher than on the app store or other game sellers sites. We all need to be willing to actually pay for our entertainment and not complain about the price differing by 1$ or more! Sorry, I just had to get that out.

@Tasuki - Yes, The MH3U Wii U update goes live on the 16th, adding Off-Screen Play, and cross continent online play for EU and NA servers! Can't freakin' wait!!!

It's interesting that you say 3rd party titles won't drive sales, since the release of Monster Hunter 3 U and Lego City Undercover in UK and in the US the sales of Wii U have tripled(In the UK I believe that is do in no small part to a large retailer cutting the Wii U price by more than 50%). So, I think that 3rd party support could cause systems to sell... the games just have to be good! EA is notorious for making sloppy games and for being biggots when it comes to Nintendo and the Wii U especially(except for their plethora of lies during E3 2011), but the console seems to be doing just fine without Origin... Now if we could only get some DLC from Activision for the console then all would be well;)

I actually enjoyed the DS version of Abyss... although it was short it was fun to play and the price was comparable to the amount of content. Can't wait to see what this one is like!

@KillerGBH Then you need to tell it to the devs... Nintendo can't make devs deliver games to the eShop! I have been going to all of the Nintendo licensees websites, the ones that have active sites, and pleading with them for Wii U releases, but I'm only one person! If we could some how band together to give these devs the incentive they need to bring their games to the Wii U, then we might not have so many DRY months for the Wii U and for the eShop on the Wii U! @3Dash Try using the outrealm gate inside your game!!! That's where almost all of the DLC is housed. If you can't find that then you haven't beaten chapter 5 yet. If you haven't beaten chapter five then you most likely won't be beating the outrealm challenges either.

Nice review! I get sick of all the larger gaming sites bashing all things nintendo and desiring, so fervently, to remain in the current gaming "rut", that all games and console should remain traditional. I've been playing video games for just about 30 years now and am loving the innovation that Nintendo is allowing developers to bring to the gaming table. Not to say every idea on their consoles is great or deserves a good score, but, I really feel as though this game got the short end if the stick when it comes to reviews. I like the game, I like the tension it creates and the frustration when I get my survivor killed, I enjoy new experiences. This is the first game since eternal darkness that has actually made me jump and for that this game deserves at least an 8! Have fun with games and don't base purchases of new games and ideas off of reviews, base them off of your likes an dislikes. That way you can intelligently argue why a game is, or is not fun to you or perhaps someone you may know.

Metroid: other M was freaking brilliant!! I don't care what anyone says! I remember reading the metroid comic in early issues of nintendo power and samus showing her humanity and weakness often. Other M just brought those human aspects of a bad-A bounty hunter to light! I hope that team ninjas makes a metroid prequal that gives insight into her relationship with the chozo and how she gets the suit!
