@Nintenjoe64 I forgot about the soundtrack being soo damn good for the time! It was the first n64 game to have propper lighting effects, full 360 movement and was an all round great inventive game.
In hindsight, I'm suprised there isn't much like this now as the theme and style are very current and I for one would be curious to see this vision in a modern hd game!

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: F1 World Grand Prix:

@BigBluePanda I'm with you there man, 8/10 for me.
I hate f1 with a passion but was bought this one birthday.....Loved it, great game, to date the only f1 game I have ever liked and I've tried many since!
In other news, this 64x64 thing on NL has made me buy an n64 today Whooooo!! I've held of for ages but cracked and got one with 5 games, this is the 4th time I've got one so fingers crossed I can keep hold of this one and build up my collection of carts!!

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Wave Race 64:

One of my favourites on the N64. Have not played this in years but can still remember so much detail. Loved the courses as there were so many routes and it's the first game I can remember with tracks that changed and evolved as the race wore on. How many games can you ride off into a sunset next to an iceberg doing a handstand on a jet ski! This is the franchise I most want to see a revival/remake of by far!

ULTRA-64 commented on Wii U Version of Watch Dogs to Miss Out on DLC:

I'll wait for confirmation but this is bad news. The sad part is I've become well conditioned for this kind of thing. I was shouting from the rooftops about this game a year ago, telling my ps3 loving mates that finally there was an adult game that would show the world what the Wii u could do- it was almost designed for Wii u with the high tech hacking interface and environmental interaction at the touch of a map/button. It is really sad that Ubisoft canned this game before it got chance to prove itself a contender on Wii u. It will come out ,sure, but regardless of how it runs the opportunity has been missed to pair an interesting concept with the hardware best suited to an original and interesting gameplay experience. We, the gaming community, have been denied the chance to say , as consumers, that this is the direction games should go and choose the product most deserving of reward. All because someone is scared to risk boardroom wrath by not agreeing with the finance department on the investment/profits opportunity of development of 'game1919377' on 'console 29485838' without a thought of how well it would actually work for the user. It's the old business vs art argument and Ubisoft just lost the war, rayman was the last thing I truly respected from them and they still ballsed that up. Thankfully the e shop is buzzing with quality right now so it's not the end of the world!! ;)

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Excitebike 64:

This would be a definite vc purchase if I could! As an n64 kid this is the sort of game I should have played but somehow missed. As I'm more educated/geeky about the classic franchise's now, I'm a little ashamed it passed me by. One day eh?

ULTRA-64 commented on Shovel Knight Triumphantly Exits Final Testing...:

Woohoo , great stuff! I've got a five game list of e shop gems I can't wait to play and some credit on my account. Just been waiting for a sale since I can't make up my mind which to buy next and I havnt started steamworld dig yet! That list just became six if this is coming soon!!

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Pilotwings 64:

@Nintenjoe64 @OorWullie it really is overdue for a remake/rehash/re-release or even a vc option. Wave race maybe more so.... I find it frustrating that , as a non handheld user, I can't play the latest versions of this, Mario64 or lylat wars for example. An e shop version, even if it was game pad only handheld ports, would shut me up. An hd version of any of these would send me over the moon! =)

ULTRA-64 commented on Review: SPIKEY WALLS (Wii U eShop):

@Jenraux well don't get bitter if it bombs out, you don't want to be making games like this for a living later down the line. ;)
My opinion on this is that I really respect the developers honesty and straight up attitude. It shines out as a good thing in a horrible industry plagued by liars and marketing men with no morality. However I don't think that joining them game wise will do anything other than more damage to the bigger picture. It's a sad truth that this game in terms of artistic statement is nothing, however making games with integrity is rare and bills need paying and let's face it- somebody would do it if not him!

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Mario Kart 64:

Great game, not nearly as complete as dkr but great. I thought the tracks were great, loads of short cuts like the wall jump in wario stadium and the rainbow road big drop. Surprised to see the multiplayer marked down as, for me, that was this games best feature and the best battle multiplayer ever in a Mario kart!! Many good memories of this one......=)

ULTRA-64 commented on First Image Of Wii U Wipeout-Beater FAST Racin...:

@Manfred thanks for the screen shot, there's been very little to keep us going so far ;)
Could I just ask if you plan to update the game, if successful, with dlc and content? Since nano assault was an amazing game with a superior engine to most retail games. It was a shame that it's flaw was limited content, you guys did the hardest bit but more levels would have been perfect for that game!

ULTRA-64 commented on Weirdness: Modder Recreates Donkey Kong Countr...:

@Usagi-san its a thin line what would be classed as copyright infringement and free advertising with internet mods and viral videos nowadays. Much money has been made by fan made campaigns featuring well known image rights used without permission. If it made them money they set it slide. In this case the rights would belong to id and rare. Since rare will never use the brand again and id are desperate to resurrect the doom brand, i would file this under 'no harm done'. Relax ;)

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Diddy Kong Racing:

Amazing game, one of the best n64 games made. Beat mk64 into submission in EVERY category!! Graphics, single player story mode, boss battles, inventive multiplayer modes, multiple vehicles, non linear progression.....let's not forget that there was a way to play the single player campaign in 2 player aswell people!?! The multiplayer was this games best feature . In a league above any Mario kart games made since. Outstanding game!!

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Buck Bumble:

Well that's a game id forgotten about!! Rented this a few times and remember it being fun and interesting, although clunky and fog riddled! Memories =)

ULTRA-64 commented on Watch Dogs Wii U Release Dates Confirmed:

@ShadyKnights very well said, you just cut through a massive pile of bull and went straight to the point. I salute you. Personally, I've mixed feelings on this that only reviews will help with. In other words, I'll actually check out the game before I decide!!

ULTRA-64 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron:

Quality game, enjoyed this allot at the time and was a real system seller as there was no game like this on the psx. Came up allot on the playground as a tip for tat argument over which was the better console. Loved it!!

ULTRA-64 commented on Watch Dogs Stares at a November Release Date o...:

@AcesHigh73 @IxC don't worry I'm not a hater, I just want this to be a fair debate.
The biggest supporters of the Wii u are surely Sega, with multiple exclusive games with all dlc available. In some cases free. Ubisoft deserve a terrible reputation with Wii u owners, not maybe boycotting them, but some kind of back lash!!
How many 100%complete (no missing dlc/updates/same time as other versions etc...) Games have they actually released? Even zombie u which I loved was riddled with game breaking bugs that didn't get patched for over 6 months and the delay on rayman was on top of it being promised as exclusive. Furthermore, having played through black flag on Wii u, the frame rate was TERRIBLE, crashed often and full of glitches- it was 100% the worst version available and to cap it all off had no dlc!
Let's be fair, ubisoft were the biggest 'launch supporters'....the problem is they couldn't walk away quick enough after. To show support with flaws then back off whilst pointing fingers at consumers for blame is the reason most have an issue, imo.

ULTRA-64 commented on Review: The Fall (Wii U eShop):

Strange that the other reviews I have read say the voice acting is the strongest feature of the game and never mentioned the controls being bad at all! It's also hard to say a game should have more d pad support just to match the old skool menus. Sounds like the reviewer did not get along with this game entirely but I respect his opinion enough to maybe read up on this more rather than dive in!

ULTRA-64 commented on Catch Up on All the Bayonetta 2 Direct Videos ...:

Count me in for the two disc special ed , day one! Waiting on Amazon pricing before I pre order but I decided a little while ago I would only have time for bayonetta 2 or hyrule warriors and, short of reviews being shocking, this looks a far better game. Also in terms of value and reputation, the amount of content on offer in the two for one is unbelievable.
As posted above, Nintendo need to give this some major media backing! Not just for sales of the game and promotion of the Wii u. But as a message to 3rd party devs that different games can succeed and Nintendo WILL back them not steamroll them with another Mario game!

ULTRA-64 commented on Shovel Knight Rated By The Australian Classifi...:

I can wait a little longer.....great game but my back log is not going down. I'm working on a finish 2 games buy one ratio and I've got steamworld dig to get before this so that means I need to 100% mk8 , dk:tf AND mass effect 3 before this is available. Good times!

ULTRA-64 commented on Rising Star Games Celebrates Its 10th Annivers...:

@CaviarMeths your probably right , but it's likely due to the need for more promotion in Europe. In America Nintendo products sell better so they have to 'do more' to get numbers in Europe. Also I wonder if the whole club Nintendo rewards effect this? If NOA have sacrificed margin for loyalty bonuses so they don't have as much room for discounts?

ULTRA-64 commented on Video: This is a Video Game:

@RainbowGazelle I'm in your camp there . Maybe its a regional thing. I'm in England.
It just makes more sense to me to call them computer games as it's a computer not a vcr as was standard when I started gaming!

ULTRA-64 commented on Ubisoft's Latest UK Release Schedule Still Sho...:

Bwahahahahaha... Ubisoft are bloody useless!! In the past I've gotten defensive of ubisoft, and at one point I was telling all my mates to wait for this amazing inventive game coming called watch_dogs!! Now I just find the whole thing comical, it's insulting to everyone involved that they have still not got a date/screen shot/features or even behind closed doors viewings for the media. I've got this image in my head of a hundred monkeys typing code for them in a sealed room, a bannana drops every time they get a usable string of 1's and 0's......
The irony that a game about interconnected technology and they don't have a clue what's going on with theirs!!!!

ULTRA-64 commented on Review: Jett Tailfin (Wii U eShop):

I guess this is the downside of a popular e shop. I'll take games like this swimming around of we keep getting the quality games we've had lately . Swings and roundabouts I guess?
