TheDudeAbides commented on USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer:

I have read some of these comments and it needs to be said: while the potential of the Wii is unquestionable from a downloadable standpoint, it is falling short due to the lack of solid third party publisher support. That takes away some of the titles we love right off the bat. Nintendo made classics all by themselves, and will eventually release them, but until then they are requiring us to have patience, which I don't have.

I really love my Wii, and appreciate the VC, and I will continue to wait each week to see what gets released, but until I get a MegaMan or a Super Mario RPG or (God forbid) a title as jaw dropping as CronoTrigger, I will keep playing my XBOX 360.

That being said you can't even compare the Wii to any other console. You really need a Wii and a 360/PS3 to get the full gaming experience. I just hope Nintendo doesn't use that as an excuse to not give gamers what they want.

TheDudeAbides commented on US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2:

It is sad to see the games that we love being held back here in the US. Obviously in my perfect world I would have the Mega Man series, Super Mario RPG, Crono Trigger, etc. in my library. When I bought my Wii I expected those games to be readily available. They aren't, and I got over it. Plus I have my 360....

TheDudeAbides commented on WiiWare needs a storage solution NOW!:

It should have been obvious when this company planned the VC that it would need to have serious memory to meet the demands of the gamer. The VC was its greatest selling point for the Wii, and they had to assume that any one customer would want to download dozens, if not hundreds of these games, which would mean a lot of memory being used.

Even now after the release of WiiWare they are sitting back in the shadows, waiting to see how many people run out of memory and get royally pissed. I haven't run out of memory yet, but I have only downloaded two 64 games. Most of my VC purchases are NES games, which don't take up much memory.

Nintendo, get your priorities together, and win this console war.

TheDudeAbides commented on Top 20 'popular titles' on the Virtual Console...:

Cruis'n USA really isn't that good of a game. While we are talking about not very good games, Donkey Kong may be the worst one on there. I mean, I can't be hypocritical because Donkey Kong was one of the first downloads I made. It was a mistake, and I deleted it from my hard drive. Also, look for RCR to go up next time. What a good VC purchase!

TheDudeAbides commented on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time:

This really is the greatest Zelda game of all time. It may be the best video game of all time, but that wouldn't be fair to about 30 other games. It is reason alone to purchase a Wii.

TheDudeAbides commented on Super Mario Bros. 2:

I wish someone liked this game as much as I do. This is not my favorite Mario game, but it's better than the original (in retrospect). Plus it was different from every other installment, and even though some say that the formula failed and that's why they never came back to it, the truth is it was an Americanized version that separated itself from every other title. I love this game..... too bad I haven't downloaded it yet.

Forget about this game. Does anyone remember ARCH RIVALS? That game was a trip, especially when you trip over the blind referee.

I deleted this game soon after I downloaded it. I just don't think it has aged well. Now, please give me Megaman. NOW.

TheDudeAbides commented on The Legend of Zelda:

This is one of the main reasons I bought my Wii in the first place.... to be able to play my favorite games without the hassles of dealing with my NES. The Legend of Zelda is my favorite Nintendo game, and even though I found the regular controller turned sideways didn't feel quite as right as a regular NES controller, this game brings all the nostalgia of playing it as a child. It's not A Link to the Past, but it's a Zelda game, which makes it perfect.
