TheAdza commented on Consumers Go Crazy For Wii U Following Xbox On...:

I really hope Microsoft tanks it with this Xbox One. This isn't some fanboy rant, I've owned both previous Xbox's and they haven't delivered anything to me at all besides a spare console for my son and his friends to play on in a different room. Pay to play online? No thanks. Shooter after shooter after shooter? no thanks. And now we have TV TV TV plus shooters plus always online plus games not being able to be played on other consoles. NO THANKS. I hope it tanks and leaves the rest of the market to the PS4 and Wii U.

TheAdza commented on WWE 2K14 Set To Skip Wii U:

Is a WWE game not coming really a big deal to Wii U owners? I don't even understand why this pseudo sport is even popular in the first place. But it obviously is despite my extremely low opinion of it, but how many Wii U owners would be fans of it? I'm hoping that the answer is not many, as I would like to think us Wii U owners are a bit more classy.

Really would have liked Nintendo, a leading family entertainment company, make a stand and keep the game as it is, or even add female-female marriage. It's almost a perfect real world metaphor. Just like parents of gay children, Nintendo as developers didn't expect their game to turn out the way it did, but they should still be proud and stand by their game, as any good parent would do, not try and patch it out. That sends a horrible message.

Not looking forward to E3 really. But I still look forward to Nintendo Direct. So it's a win for me, but I'm already a Nintendo fan, with the latest Nintendo consoles. Getting info to the average consumer... That's the downside of not doing a major E3 conference.

TheAdza commented on Satoru Iwata Taking Over CEO Role of Nintendo ...:

We need the Japanese games released here. Western devs and publishers by and large don't want to support Nintendo's consoles. I hope that more come. I really do. I don't know if having Iwata as CEO is going to help that cause though.

TheAdza commented on Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed:

Disappointing that's for sure. Not going to be buying anything until there is something that hasn't been on there before. Like for instance, Earthbound. Also, there hasn't been any talks about Sega games appearing. They were a good supporter of the Wii VC, but they stopped supporting the 3DS pretty quickly. So little chance of seeing some Saturn and Dreamcast VC let alone MS and MD games. And of course, still no Gamecube games announced. Very underwhelming. If Earthbound was coming at the start, nearly all could be forgiven, but without it, it's a boring rehash of old tired games, save perhaps SMW.

TheAdza commented on Review: Injustice: Gods Among Us (Wii U):

If I won't be playing online, and couldn't care less about the iOS unlockable stuff, is this version worth getting? I have a ps3 and 360, so which version is the best graphically? I want to support 3rd party games on Wii U but would it be wise to support the "gimped" version? I loved the MK reboot game. So I was looking forward to this. I don't know what to do. Advice?

TheAdza commented on Review: Kung Fu Rabbit (Wii U eShop):

No, but I believe them to be an important part of the overall score. They are perfectly serviceable, and look just fine on the Gamepad, but blown up on my 64" TV things get real bland real fast. And I didn't knock the gameplay. I said it was top notch. I just said I wouldn't give it an 8. I'd definitely give it a 7. And I like this game.

TheAdza commented on Review: Kung Fu Rabbit (Wii U eShop):

Good review. I would rate it highly too, however an 8 would be too high for my liking, purely for the whole flash game like graphics. It's just too basic. But gameplay wise it's top notch.

TheAdza commented on Review: The Croods: Prehistoric Party! (3DS):

This is the rubbish that western publishers think we want, when there are great games in Japan just waiting to be translated and released to the west. Japanese games might not be the big thing on home consoles any more, but in the handheld market, they beat just about every other western devs efforts hands down.

Well that's great for countries and places that have unlimited data. The only broadband available to me where I live is wireless, and I have a 12GB data limit per month. It's quite poo. I'm sure these cards might be a good idea in Japan and the US, but its not so good for outback Australia.

I'll be playing in the so called casual mode. I don't even know if I will be picking up DKCR3D because as much as I enjoyed the original on Wii, it was just way too hard for me that I gave up and never completed it. I don't think having extra lives is going to change it. Having levels that dont rely on memory (mine cart stages) would make it easier for me and far less frustrating. While I don't want games to be a walk in the park, if a game is too irritatingly hard, I wont finish it, and I wont buy into the series again. Same if a game is too easy. I really wish just about every game had an easy, medium and hard mode. There are so many games that I give up on because they get too hard.

I hope it's not Star Fox unless its truly epic. I think what Nintendo needs is some kind of 3D action adventure game series. Not like Mario, something more like Uncharted, but less realistic, something really Nintendo-y with an epic story. Like Star Fox adventures, but actually good. And not Metroid either. Something new.

It was a great Nintendo Direct in my opinion. But there still seems to be something missing, and of course, Mario overload. That said, Nintendo are going to send me broke this year. Especially if they start releasing games of this calibur and this quality and quantity for the Wii U.

Stellar job with the 3DS Nintendo. And for listening to the fans by releasing Earthbound to the Wii U VC. Well played. Now just ramp up the Wii U games and kick butt.

When the next Tails game goes to PS4 though without any knowledge of how many "fans" of tails games there are on that system, can someone please call this guy on his complete BS he is spouting? A console wont be successful without more games. But companies wont put their games on the Wii U because others aren't putting games on it? Im sick to death of this excuse. No one seems to say these things about putting new games onto PS4 or NextBox, Just Nintendo.

TheAdza commented on Interview: Michael Pachter On Wii U, 3DS And T...:

Pachter doesn't like Iwata does he?

Look, everyone knows Nintendo can do better than this. All we need is them to realize is that we want lots of Nintendo games at launch. Don't try and be friendly to third parties by letting them release whatever crappy old port they want at launch. Where has that got you Nintendo? It failed with the 3DS's launch and it failed again with the Wii U's launch. We've had poor old ports of games instead of new games. EA has all but walked out on you. The Rayman fiasco. For gods sake Nintendo, just make some games of your own, lots of them, and watch the system and your games sell. And then talk to third parties who will be begging you to let them make games for your console. Not the other way around.

The fee is too high thats for sure. It's like a whole new world when I load up the european eshop storefront compared to my Aussie one. I like to buy things on the eShop to support the platform, but seeing as how when I use my credit card to buy things, I still get charged an international transaction fee. Our Aussie eShop is a rouse. Even Nintendo cant be bothered having an Australian based site, yet they still over charge us for their games, dont have as many games on there, and get charged hidden fees by the banks for using it. We aussies are getting royally screwed over.

TheAdza commented on Feature: The GamePad - From Waggling Remotes T...:

I love the Gamepad. If there were a few things I would change with it it would be to have analogue buttons and triggers, and possibly some trigger placement, and a multi touch screen. But I accept the way it is other wise the cost of it would be unfathomable. Ever since the VMU on the Dreamcast controllers, I knew there was something special about having a 2nd screen. Then the DS came along and proved it was awesome. Now if only the Wii U would catch on.

I don't own a tablet, so instead of going to my laptop, or using my smartphone to onto websites, I find myself using the Gamepad a lot. It is excellent for browsing. It's fast and clear and just generally awesome. But when in that browsing mode, it is instinct to want to use pinch to zoom for pictures. I can get by without it, but I can see how it could be dismissed by the general public. That, combined with the low portability, short battery life, all compounds to make it seem less attractive than a stand alone tablet, but that's not where the Gamepad really sits. It's somewhere between the gaming, TV watching and Internet browsing crowd. Feeling connected to these things as opposed to just using device A and device B at once.

I hope it finds its audience. I love it.

I wish the game wasn't so short, but that is my only criticism of the whole game. It is still worth every penny. In fact I think it's because it is so enjoyable that when it ends, it's almost heartbreaking. I can't wait to see what their next game will be.

TheAdza commented on New Research Claims Wii U Success Hinges On A ...:

While I have no problems with the current price, a price drop is needed to make the userbase expand to a decent size. Here is why:

Despite what Nintendo say and what us agreeing fans think, Wii U tech is clearly old. Why would any gamer with a 360 or PS3 jump on board with Wii U for graphics that look no better than what they currently have? And with the next gen consoles promising much more powerful graphics than Wii U, they are better off waiting.

The only ways to convince the masses to flock to Wii U is to have great first party content available and lots of it. So far this hasn't happened. Secondly we need to see 3rd party games coming to the console that the PS3 and 360 are getting and they need to be released simultaneously. No more old ports. No more waiting for a Wii U conversion. Why buy a Wii U when more games are coming to the current systems sooner and more of them.

The second way is to cut the price. Install base goes up, 3rd party games appear more often.

So far Nintendo have failed to have lots of 1st party games available or announced, and failed to secure big 3rd party games.

I know this sounds like I am down on the system, but its just some advice I wish Nintendo would take, so more people can fall in love with the Wii U like I have. It's a brilliant system, the Gamepad is a brilliant concept. I use it so much. It's my fave controller ever. And there is a lot to look forward to. But I just don't think it will be enough for the system to find massive success without Nintendo going all out and throwing games at us from all their franchises, creating new ones, and throwing money at devs to bring their big franchises to Wii U. I will be happy with whatever Nintendo do. But without some major action on the price front and content front, the Wii U remains a hard sell to the general public.
