SyFyTy commented on Hands On: Seeking an Awakening in Fire Emblem ...:

I have to agree with those above who some called elitists. Awakening felt more watered down than the previous 5 handheld releases; 3 GBA and 2 DS releases. US & J of course... What hurt for me was the poor excuse of a multi-player on Awakening. What was that supposed to be all about? Played it and still don't quite understand it. I have hopes for a real online multi player entry this time around. If it can be done with chess, it can be done [right] here.

@Octane I bought the GB Micro late after sales stopped and I still use it today, it rocks for portable gaming... Yes, why did they stop selling it? They need to figure out a way to stop ending old models (keep them available at lower production runs) and allow Devs to make games for whatever they want... I'd buy for any of them if the game is worthy. I believe Retro sales prove this would be true across the board.

@kenzo I fully agree with your camera comment. Thought I never would but I got loads of use out of the cameras little options on the DSI, it's intersting how they changed how the faces morphed from morphing the faces (in relation pics) to using the outside of face and inside of the other in the 3ds. The first was far better for creating a composite face of two people. The second was a cheesy work-around. .... just to show one options use...

@Dankykong Hey now, I liked the use of the camera for creating your own puzzle backgrounds in JigaPix but they gave you option for saving it. that seemed dumb to me. I had a few of those games but they under-used the idea once again...Nintendo's good for abandoning good ideas early... I enjoy both Hardcore games as well as some 'shovelware'.

I was [more or less] forced to buy the new 3D XL model as my ribbon cable broke/hinge (on release day!) and would have rendered my account and therefor games gone. the N3dsXL is by and far the sturdiest model to date, although what I reallly wanted was the original sized N3ds. Now being so late in it's life I'm afraid to buy it and have what happened last time repeat; I bought the Dsi XL and shortly thereafter it was retired. I still have all my previous models (and use them all). Never thought I'd see the day when the 3ds beat out the DSi, but with Awakewning, F.E. Fates, MM, OoT, MH3 &4 Xenoblade.. well, need I say more?

I still have my original GBA cards for my GBA Micro AND the Original Guide Book by Prima remember them? It is a combo guide for GS 1&2, I reallylike those types.. The item listings, dungeons and artwork is amazing. It's not really a walk through though, thank g-d. Man, I love this series.

@dkxcalibur the two stories are of opposing sides, one plays as a player of light [good] the other a player of evil [wrong doer] so to speak, the third is anyone's guess. You are not buying simply a continuation of the story from the end of either Conquest OR Birthright they are how the story plays out from the opposite choices; one a life of good, the other of evil, the 3rd story is the continuation.

I heard the US release was to be $39.95 for [either] one of the two main stories or available in US was to be a three part/game story with the 3rd donload-able for a pre-ordered price of $79.00. I thought i heard this on a Nintendo Direct... but I could be wrong.

I liked FE Awakening, BUT, nothing will replace the two on GBA and the DS ones (1 not released in NA, played it in Japanese). This one is among one of my favs. FE has ALWAYS had branching stories but there are prerequisites that must be met, in this case killing off a few specific people.
Simplicity is the Hallmark of Genius' this is why both Advance Wars and F.E. will always be my fav. (along with Golden Sun 1&2) I have the Original Nintendo Power Guides for All the games I've mentioned; g-d I miss those guides (for present releases); fandom galore.

SyFyTy commented on Mitsuru Hirata Expresses Interest in Pursuing ...:

Too many games released (like this) get released with a whisper, against a background of shouting for the latest Pokemon game (or other 1st party remake) and few ever really hear about it. N releases tons of details about their games and few if any about the 3rd party ones, giving them only half a chance to thrive.

Also it was released at the end of the DSi life cycle while most were waiting to buy the 3ds.

It was not well received, because it was not well advertised for one thing and the above reasons. The game was good nay great IMO and few who even heard of it [& played it] would say otherwise. Loved the story, battle method, art style /graphics, what else could one want? besides a sequel... Count me in for a pre-purchase.

Why didn't they mention Luigis Mansion? Those who own any 3ds and DON'T play/own Majoras' Mask are missing out on one truly classic and amazing experience,Replay value? Tremendous, this coming from a NON Zelda fan... Best game since Fire Emblem Awakening and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Now if we can only get Advance Wars 3D... but I suspect it will never happen for the 3ds.

@ottospooky I couldn't agree more. I had a wife do this same thing to me for dozens of books valued at thousands of dollars, just to insure I never benefited from the sale myself. The battle screens look a bit like the game released in the UK: 'Military History' 'Commander: Europe at War' (for DS) which was released by Slitherine Software, U.K..Which unfortunately had a broken tutorial and not intuitive in the least. I enjoyed the 'Panzer Tactics' for the DS (not the best instructions either) but nothing beats the father of the handheld wars IMO: 'Advance Wars' by Intelligent Sys.. I will be buying this one just the same. You never know when good one will hit and we need support for these type of 'porta-wars' PS Slitherine also did 'History' (same logo as Military History) Great Empires : Rome which released (at least ) in the US, unplayable by my terms though.

SyFyTy commented on Review: Moon Chronicles: Episode 1 (3DS eShop):

Ive said it before each individual game the ds had showed lower numbers because the game to gamer ratio was so high. This means the market was saturated with titles, that each title with the exception of very popular ones, showed low numbers, this did not mean games were not good. Add to that the speed with which they were being released and you have fewer opportunities with which to try new titles before the next big thing arrived. This is the reason I'm still buying DSi titles (to this day (2014) and not sweating the 3ds releases.

SyFyTy commented on Legends of Oz Dorothy's Return:

@jgibson75 regarding that original Oz Rpg from the DS days...i bought that game and as jrpg's go it was both unique and good. It used a virtual track ball on the bottomscreen for moving that was really fun and worked great and the graphics were top knotch, The game is/was both traditional and unique at the same time, But enough of each to make it stand out from everything else out there especially for the fan of the movie. It had many unique ideas (battle system) I would like to see repeated in other games of that genre' that were unlike anything else available to date. the story (& Graphics esp OZ) was well done and was an 8 out of 10 in my book for many reasons. Worth tracking down used if you can find it still available. I still own mine today and will keep it. I too was hoping it was related though...

I have the orignal Golden Sun And Golden Sun Lost Age Catriges Along with the Original Guide books written when the game first came out when guides were guides not cheat books. God i love this game, and to those trying to decide between this and advance wars? GET BOTH or miss out, BOTH of these are responsible for my addiction to gaming today. I have all of my original carts for that series (A.W.) with first print guides too. Oh, BTW if you like Chrono Trigger? You OWE it to yourself to check out the (not so ) recently released Atlus game about Time travel, frequently compared to Chrono Trigger, entitled: 'Radiant Historia'. Beautiful graphics but somtimes a bit difficult to get ahold of, went through a second printing recently.Great and very unique battle methodolgy as well. well worth a look into.

@SuperMarioBros3 @SuperMarioBros3 nintendo uses a strategy whereby they implement lesser content by product and packaging; giving less, and in the process they charge more for that 'less' this is a proven strategy for short term success only. In the history of business, long term revenues have seldom come from giving less value to the customer and asking for a greater value (investment) from the said same customer. Shert term pleasure always equals lng term pain, ie quick fixes don't work.

@heathenmagic yes, regarrding Advance Wars: it's time to get those achievements for online in your medals before they shut it down and make that part of the game impossible. And Fire Emblme Shadow Dragon: ? It's time to buy those weapons online before the game is unfinish-able now.

SyFyTy commented on Nintendo Switching Off Wi-Fi Connection Servic...:

This WILL make me think twice before buying another Nintendo game with online functionality of any kind. Because the 3ds includes as it's selling popint the use of older DSi games, for this reason alone, the DS online functionality should be supported at least for another 4 or so years. This decreases the reason to buy a 3ds (for me and many others) not improve it. Business tactics like this cost customers, thier being penny wise and pound foolish.

if they want to improve sales , Nintendo needs to stop selling us promises (which they don't keep[on time]) and start selling real time/world products. this game is a perfect example of why you should not promise a game too far ahead of release (even for the hype/advrtisement), as it can backfire. Also, don't delay the release date too often, which ties in with the don't tell before it's ready idea) I knew dozens who wanted this but their interest died out, as the news got thin and the clock ticked on to newer, bigger and better things.

@Giygas_95 Got it, LOVE it, This is not generally my style of game but I can pick it up [intending ] to play 5 minutes, and hour later I'm still playing and it feels as though only 5 min have passed. I have laughed out loud while playing this game every time. Next to Fire Emblem [my first gaming love along wiht advance wars]this rates as the best I've downloaded from eshop to date, as far as fun, entertaining, amount of content, quality etc, I can go on and on. Very good for the price point, THANK YOU. If you're not sure, get it, you won't be sorry at 10. USD. As for thefast story line, orignaly I was confused but the ease of replay-ability made this a moot point. I played first the free play, to get the feel, then the achievements than the story.

I'll be keeping my eye on this but where is Nintendo's Flipnpote 3d? They've gotten in the habit of selling promises instead of software lately.

it IS a horror survival theme, I read this somewhere else months ago. Theses screens have been available for almost a year on www.3ds-screenshot.com. This site has screens for every major (3ds) release in several languages for viewing directly on the 3ds browser. Though it was only last upated 3-22-2013
and BTW great gameplay without HD graphics can succeed but high def graphics without great gameplay can not succeed. Sooo no graphics mean little to the success of a good game.

Although I have the ambassador games, I also have the original working game carts (and all official original guides for BOTH Advance Wars titles, BOTH Fire Emblem Titles and BOTH Golden Sun titles, each for GBA, for use on my GB Micro, though I'd like em on my 3ds too. those 6 are my greatest gaming pride and joy. By putting the Advance wars GBA cart in the DS lite while playing Advan. Wars Dual strike you were/are able to unlock additional (though minimal) content within the DS AWDS game. Loved it! still got it all. I would love to see Mother3 EarthBound (GBA) come to VC instead of just on the Wii U VC. Sadly no GBA ever will make it to the 3ds, the titles misleading.

@aaronsullivan most budding artists who have only used e-art programs are spoiled by the artificial re-production of varying pressures that are 'choose'able from the menus rather than learning it on paper. A practiced artist on paper could have a tough time without that ability but it can be done, as applied to limited art styles. My mother was a graduate (deans list) of 'Julliard' which was one of the US's top art schools years ago, I was brought up on art....

@Lunapplebloom To layer and shade without the use of tools (or artificial layering) like on many 'programs' is what real art; oil on canvas or pencil on canvas is all about in real life. @Gameday the 3ds version is much better than one would expect. A complete beginner could learn from it, if they only followed directions exactly. The Wii U will morph into something to behold in due time. And I'm hyper critical about most N stuff, even though I am a fan.
