@Wilford111
First of all, Wil, I wasn't even talking to you in particular, so you can eat crow for that one.
It matters that you've played the original, so you're not stupid and remorseful enough to waste 9.99 on more 1-player filler.

And as for my logic, once you pay for a digital game, there's no going back, you're stuck with it. Kinda like you're stuck with your own gullible, slow nature right now.

I really don't like all the praise this game is getting. I bet almost all of you never even played the original, as it was a HORRIBLE, BORING gaming experience for me, and countless others. The 1-player mode in Sub Wars does nothing different (but wow, it's now a first-person shooter!). It's only the multiplayer mode that has anything good in it. Nintendo dropped the ball on this one (big surprise), PRECISELY because of the multiplayer being IN THE FREE VERSION! Don't get tempted to pay, people, we're wasting enough money as it is.

Nothing Nintendo can do will save the Wii U. Not Mario Kart 8, not Smash Bros., and not any other game in their library. All of this without even mentioning their 3rd party support.
And they deserve this, because they've been turning a blind eye, and a deaf ear, to all of their fans.
What goes around comes around, Nintendo!

@Ignatius_Cheese
Maybe YOU should read the article, AND ferthepoet's comment. Nintendo is refusing to change, and this is a testament to their lost innovation and creativity, THE TWO THINGS THAT DEFINED THE COMPANY IN THE FIRST PLACE! His article speaks volumes louder than Nintendo's. His says "this is what needs to be done", while Nintendo's says "we're going to keep it safe for a while".
"I am both curious and nervous about the future of Nintendo but will continue to enjoy the 3DS and Wii U for the time being." That proves you're just as safe and predictable as they are, and don't really care about speaking out against Nintendo's ignorance. Which, by the way, means KEEP YOUR WALLET CLOSED.
And one last thing:
"Needless to say, this does not sound like Nintendo are positioning themselves to compete directly with Sony or Microsoft in the future and, as such, will distance themselves further from the current 3rd Party models."
A recipe for disaster, and they're feeling it already. When disaster hits, do we do nothing? Nope. We change our strategy.
Bye bye, Nintendo, it's been a blast.

@Windy I couldn't agree with you more!
The 3DS is the VERY best system I've ever played, because the NES games are on there, Mario 64 DS and Ocarina 3D are on there, the 3DS games are only getting better, and that catalog of DS games porting all the way back to ATARI! This is DEFINITELY the system I'm retiring on!
I'm an old gamer myself, as I started with the NES back in '87.

@ToxieDogg
The Wii and DS are still Nintendo's most sold and celebrated systems, ever. With as broad and diverse an audience as that, it's really hard to forget about those who helped Nintendo gain the video gaming renaissance it needed. The 3DS can still support DS wi-fi, and the Wii U is doing very badly, especially without a Smash Bros. title for many months after Brawl dies out online.

It would've been really cool to have this character. It's only natural that in a fighting game, the bad guys can finally beat the living snot out of the spotlight-stealing good guys, and vice versa. That would've given Luigi a reason to fight, other than revenge on Mario.

@IceClimbers
I understand that it's natural to 'let go' of a previous generation, in favor of the latest one, but with so little potential for the Wii U, and backwards wi-fi compatibility for the 3DS, there's still room for profit-making, and these two systems are still trying to match the phenomenal sales of the DS and Wii. They NEED to make any extra money they can to stay in competition with Sony and Microsoft, and the fewer options they allow themselves to have, the worse their future looks. The eShop is the greatest example of this.
The worst reason for cancellin Wii wi-fi: there will not be a Smash Bros. Game for MANY months to come, as bad as the online was for Brawl. That will leave a big, gaping hole for Smash Bros. fans everywhere.

Of course it's free, what do you think I am, STUPID?!
Online multiplayer sells systems and games, in case you're wondering.
The Wii and DS are HARDLY slowing down, at all. it's about sales, isn't it?
Nintendo's still bigger than Sony or Microsoft.
And lastly, if you didn't understand my comment in the first place, don't respond. THAT should be REAL WORLD enough for you.

This just confirms how conservative and desperate Nintendo has become. To cease service on their very first wi-fi systems is a gigantic shame, as this is a huge factor in their sales. If this is Nintendo just being "a business", then they've lost any chance on making money, or on continuing to be innovative.
The 3DS will be my very last Nintendo system, PERIOD.

@Mk_II
Yeah, I hit on Gashole when I was playing Mario Kart 7, and of course, no bad names, so I picked the next best thing. It actually has two meanings. The first is the exhaust pipe of a gas-fueled kart, and the other is... you get the idea. It also gives me the personification of being a competitive jerk when I wanna be! It's more fun that way.

SuperMarioBros3 commented on Review: Steel Diver: Sub Wars (3DS eShop):

I never thought a slow-as-a-snail game could be so much fun in online multiplayer. It's one of my FAVORITES! So much so, I'm content with the free version, as the extra subs only have slight tweaks to them, and the single-player game has almost zero attention from me. It's all about blowing up other human players, baby!

SuperMarioBros3 commented on Review: Super Princess Peach (DS):

This game is so unique within the Mario adventure universe. Yes, it's not graphically enhanced enough, the emotions tend to make us think of it stereotyping feminine characteristics, and it's very easy. But, man (or woman), is the game refreshing to play. And it has an entire 'world" based on the Ghost House theme! I would give this an 8/10. And the campfire dream scenes in-between worlds is actually really cool!

SuperMarioBros3 commented on Soapbox: A Case For The Defence: Castlevania 64:

I remember seeing the very first screenshots, when Reinhardt was inside Dracula's castle, with the staircase and the candle stands. That made it almost as anticipating for me as Ocarina of Time.
The game, to me, gets a good 7/10, around the same kind of score as Simon's Quest, as both were experimental in their new approaches to the genre, but were also clunky and half-baked in their execution.
Still, very memorable, and a good try for the first 3D Castlevania game.

SuperMarioBros3 commented on Free-To-Play Title Steel Diver: Sub Wars Break...:

I played the online multiplayer a lot, and love the Morse code chat. It's very unique, and you can actually TALK to other players, for once.
The original was the best example of "I loved it" (originality), then "I hated it" (too short, and slow) no other game gave me that bi-polar a response before.
But the online multiplayer is on the free version IN ITS ENTIRETY. Yes, you can't use more, and better, subs, but all levels are there. For that reason alone, I'm content with it for free.

When it's DS, and now GBA games, coming to the Wii U Virtual Console, and NOT the 3DS one, something's SERIOUSLY wrong with Nintendo.
Aside from the free Steel Diver sequel, and full online multiplayer that came with it, the rest of the announcements were absolute CRAP.
GIVE US A DATE FOR THE NEXT SMASH BROS. GAME!!!
