@Chicken Brutus.
Even if you didn't want to get the actual game we're both going to have to get at least one Wii Motion Plus. Any Developer who will want to be taken seriously now will have to start designing games with the Motion plus capabilities in mind. And it's $20 so I just think of it as getting something I'll need any way and then getting a really good brand new game for only $30. At least that's how I justify it to myself.

I can't wait to pick this one up either but one thing: the original game comes with the system so this whole thing about everyone wanting to call Wii Sports the best selling game of all time is really starting to annoy me. It's like calling the Nunchuk the best selling Wii accesory just because you get one with the system. I'm not taking anything away from Wii Sports, I still pop it in once in a while, but does anyone really think the sales figures for the game would been really that impressive if it hadn't been packaged with the Wii.

Storyteller commented on US VC Releases - 25th February - Kirby 64:

This is the first time I've ever seen Nintendo release a game for the virtual console that wasn't on this site's "coming soon" list. I almost took it for granted that if a game wasn't on the list it wouldn't be coming out yet. It makes me wonder if Nintendo will fall into a trend of giving no advance warning for major titles and try to play off the shock value a little bit.

Storyteller commented on Eternity’s Child Confirmed as WiiWare:

I watched a couple of videos of this game and I do have to admit that the art direction really impressed me, which it better be considering the guy's a cartoonist, and the music I also thought was top notch.

That being said I can't imagine playing this game for more than a few minutes due to the fact that the gameplay seems to have almost been an afterthought. It seems overly basic and repetitive and to be honest I thought the level design seemed a little wanting. I realize this guy didn't quite have all of Microsoft's resources at his disposal but that doesn't change the fact that I'm not willing to spend money on a title I don't think I will have fun with.

Keep in mind though that those are just my first impressions. I haven't even play a demo of this game but if anyone out there has and wants to tell me how wrong I am than I am sincerly listening.

Storyteller commented on Hardware Focus - Sega Master System:

I like to think of myself as someone who knows quite a lot about video games. I don't consider myself an expert yet by any means but I would say I know far more than the average gamer and yet I do have to admit that at the time the Master System was announced for the Virtual Console I was only vaguely aware the MS even existed. I have a profound love for older games and as such am a massive fan of the VC so I do try to learn as much as I can. I suppose most people will just chalk up my ingnorance to the flag next to my name but to be honest part of me is glad that my whole life I've known next to nothing about Sega's 8-bit machine and I'll tell you why, I get to experience a whole catalouge of games that have the same charm you find in playing many older titles but I'll playing them as if they were new becuase for me they are. Like I said I knew I was no expert but last week I realized just how much there was out there that I might not know and it exited me. I can't wait to dive into all of these games I was never even aware of. Thanks to you guys at VC-reviews for keeping us informed.

Storyteller commented on Smash Bros. Brawl to include VC Demos!:

I saw another site that claims Mother 2 and Fire Emblem will both be on the demo list as well. I would even imagine the original Metal Gear and Sonic the Hedgehog games will be among the full list of demos.

I will have to play the game to see how much I really like it but just from watching the video for a minute it seems to be a really interesting fast-pased game. I loved the games from around this time but never had the money to get more than two a year, one for my birthday and one for Christmas so I'm really exited about about what the VC brings to the table, or rather brings BACK to the table, and if anyone from Nintendo reads this then thank you and if anyone from VC-reviews reads this then thanks a lot to you guys as well for all of this.

Storyteller commented on Portable Virtual Console - A Reality?:

I have always recognized that one of the few downsides to the Wii VC was the noticable lack of games from the handheld systems. I've thought a lot about how great it would be to go back and play games like Metroid 2 and Super Mario Land, both of them, the Wario Land games and so many others that were in fact exclusive to handhelds. for a while now I haven't been sure whether or not they would add Game Boy and Game Gear games to the Wii VC or utilize the WiFi capabilities of the DS, but I figured that by the end of '08 Nintendo will will be neck deep in handheld downloads and history has shown that when it comes to the portable market the Big N has treaded the water quite impressively. If they were going to do it with the DS I thought they might release some kind of special edition kind of like what the Game Boy Color was to the old Game Boy. Something that might be a little better equipped to both download and house the games. I'm sure almost all of the Game Boy games short of the GB Advance titles would be fair game for Nintendo to release. Most of the Game Gear games as well and with the recent inclusion of the Neo Geo in the VC maybe Neo Geo Pocket games could start showing back up again. Only time will tell and I may be jumping the gun a little bit but what do you guys think?

Storyteller commented on New Duck Hunt Coming to WiiWare?:

When I first saw this it reminded me of a story I saw some time ago about Nintendo releasing an updated version of the original Dr. Mario on their new WiiWare service when it premiers. Maybe that is why this title screams WiiWare release to me but whether or not it is a fake, in my opinion it's not a bad idea. Duck Hunt may be guilty of riding the coattails of Super Mario Bros. to fame but there is no disputing now that the game is a true classic. A true classic that hasn't seen a sequel or update in two decades. It seems to me it would be an easy task to update Duck Hunt for WiiWare and still hold true to the original flavor of what did make the game a classic. I personally hope it does happen and I would go so far as to say I also hope it doesn't stop there. There would be plenty of old games that would be prime candidates for a WiiWare extreme makeover and while we're on the subject I have another classic second-banana meant-to-cash-in-on-the-use-of-a-new-gaming-peripheral game that I believe is one of those prime candidates I was talking about. Mario Paint. Just think about all the cool things in that game and what they could do with it. Just think about it.

Storyteller commented on Original Smash Bros Coming to VC?:

It's a perfectly valid question Damo and after thinking about it I may have a couple answers for you:
1) Nostalgia. Especially with Ninendo fans nostalgia is a definitely a factor.
2) Retro-exclusive content. None of the stages nor any of the four unlockable characters in the N64 smash have been officially confirmed for Brawl. Granted that fact is likely to change very soon but It's still very possible to see one or two things in the original that you can't get with Brawl.
3) Debate resolution. Some people may feel that thier favorite character doesn't pack the same punch in Melee or Brawl as they did back in '99 and if they only had the original version they would wipe the floor with you. That's when you fire up the N64 Smash and show them just how wrong they are.
That's all I've got and I know I can't vouch for everyone but those reasons would be enough for me to spend the points on it.

One last point on Super Mario Kart. I do think they're waiting for Mario Kart Wii to come out but Nintendo has released so many great games in the past year on the VC and I think they now realize they need to start pacing themselves a little as well. They still have many years worth of games to release and if they use up all of thier marquis titles early then who knows what might happen? I think that's another reason why they're waiting on so many other fan favorites.

Storyteller commented on Original Smash Bros Coming to VC?:

It would just make good sense from a marketing standpoint to release the original in sync with Brawl. I've been telling my friends for months that the original Smash would be released on the VC close to Brawl and the original Mario Kart would also find its way there when Mario Kart Wii is graciously unleashed. Not only does it make sense to do it but just look at recent history. Super Metroid came out when Metroid Prime 3 was released and was that Super Mario Bros. 3 I saw available for download right before Galaxy hit store shelves. I think it was.

The fans want to see it and there won't be a better time to give it to us until the next Smash Bros. game comes out and we've waited over six years already for Brawl. Go ahead and call this a done deal. I've got 1000 points waiting.
