Way too much reading into all this, three titles HAVE been announced. Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games 2014 - Wii U, Sonic: Lost Worlds - 3DS and Sonic: Lost Worlds - Wii U.
However I do think that Mario Kart should be kept to pure karting with Mario characters only and maybe have an all-vehicle race game akin to Sonic Racing with characters from all over the Nintendo universe including third parties similar to the mighty Smash Bros. That'd be brilliant!

@StarDust I think that someone got a bit trigger happy with a portal gun and put paintings up to hide the evidence! This would make the castle only its 'face value' size because they take you to different locations instead of it occupying a larger size internally than externally TARDIS style maybe? Would a Paper Mario one be worth less because it only occupies 2 dimensions? How did I never notice the lack of amenity's in Mario 64!?! Every princess needs to poo!

@Damo It does however it also invalidates your warranty with Nintendo and that's not something I'd be willing to risk. You'd be surprised at just how many broken consoles are the result of third party equipment being used and just how few go wrong when only used with the real deal. Back to Animal crossing though i'm a little worried about just how much time I'll throw at this one. I think the least I have played any of them is around 300 hours!

Please just give me an extended version of Game Dev Story on the U and I'll be a happy gamer!

@Dev Working the numbers for Peach's castle would be a lot trickier, I mean would you calculate the internal dimensions of the contents of each of the paintings or just the castle itself?

I don't support EA because they don't generally make games that interest me. I'm sure that the last I bought for a Nintendo system was boom blox 2!

Perfect! now I get to spend less on the game when bought through Game then if I pay for it directly through the eShop, I get the game points, Nintendo network premium, Club Nintendo stars and the convenience of having the titles straight on the Wii U menu reducing strain on the optical drive of the console...now to put some money aside for a dedicated external HDD

So are these counted towards your network premium total or not?

@Noxia Every Wii U game has a full e-manual, same applies for all but the very earliest 3DS games too regardless of whether they are disk based or download.

There was actually a small batch of gba sp that had a backlit screen instead of frontlit, they look tons better. They were produced very late in the gba lifecycle.

I got mine pre-launch from club nintendo with metroid prime hunters: first hunt and warioware touched demo. It had t-shirts and other goodies bundled too. I upgraded to DSlite on launch day, sad to see it traded in but was well worth it.

I might get a couple so that I can have an official red nunchuk finally! As far as I know it doesn't have USB either so no internet at all

If there is no true backwards compatibility then its a 'not buying' from me. I have a more then ample internet connection to support streaming but don't want to do this. I don't want two ugly Sony consoles sat under my telly.

I have no sympathy whatsoever, he should have contacted Nintendo directly and they would have transferred them straight to a shiny new Wii U for him under his warranty. Anyone who spends that sort of money should look into this first.

For most other games I really wouldn't mind loosing exclusivity as a good game is still a good game regardless of the platform but this one was clearly built with the innovation that is integral to the Wii U gamepad. If the versions of this game are all the same then I don't really want those features stripped out just so it can play on the last gen consoles too. The delay is just a twist of the knife. I'm deleting the demo and cancelling my pre-order right now.

On the plus side and least my wallet will let out a small sigh of relief now

Can someone confirm for me... If Etrian Odyssey 2 and 3 are normal DS (not region locked DSi) carts? My girlfriend loves the first one and would love me forever if I imported 2 and 3 for her birthday

I used to work in the Nintendo UK customer support centre until not too long ago, it was the best job I have ever had and probably ever will. Once I was on a call helping with Ocarina of Time for 3 and a half hours!...we sent them a copy of the guide in the end. So many good times

I am all for Nintendo trying new things with the series. I'm hoping for a new four swords with multiple gamepad support.

Well written review, quite pessimistic and nit-picky. I wasn't expecting a score of 8 after reading it! This one is on my Xmas list and if it doesn't show up, it'll be bought soon after. I'm finding it difficult to split my spare time between my 3DS and WiiU..hard life hehe

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Firstly this will change in the future and secondly if your console breaks you have a warranty and if you return to Nintendo for repairs or replacement your account is transferred to another console anyway! Oh yeah and if you have any sense at all you should have home contents insurance if the console is stolen.

It'd have to be Afterburner for me, seems a perfect fit for 3D. Space Harrier is a good choice to start with too. 3D aside i would love me some retro Phantasy Star on the go!

The trend for slightly later ports is only because the dev kits wouldn't have been in developers hands long enough yet and ports are a cheap and easy way to get titles out there making them the all-important money. From all the info out there it seems really quite easy to get a game made on the Wii U. This really could be the best Nintendo platform yet!

These videos are great but they do feel too manufactured, I prefer watching yuriofwind on youtube. His gaming mysteries videos are great

It depends on which region you are from, in Europe (where this site is based) strikers charged came out before Pokemon battle revolution

I wish someone would explain to me why they would use the pro controller when the GamePad is there to be used... Surely a pro controller would only be used for second player asymmetrical gaming? The pro controller has nothing that the pad doesn't offer so whats the point?

I have a feeling that Mario Kart for the Wii U will be done by this dream team. Nintendo need to be acquiring more like them so that they can increase their output whilst still maintaining the quality. I would however love to see what they could do with Zelda

I'd be happy with Lightning returns - FF13 but i'm one of the strange few who actually quite enjoyed 13/13-2

The 3DS does play DSiWare...well apart from about 8 titles to my knowledge anyway

Surely every one of us should have seen this coming, we know the Wii U plays Wii titles including VC/WiiWare in Wii mode which like the Wii going into Gamecube mode means that in this mode it IS a Wii unlike offerings from Sony and Microsoft who only emulate backwards compatibility. The up side is 100% compatibility and the downside is that getting another controller working with that would be very tricky to engineer same goes for upscaling. Besides I like the fact that I can still use my SNES classic controllers

What you all need to remember is that that 8.3m forecast is divided across six different models of the console. There are three regions each with two different versions and the balance of those may not be perfectly 'in tune' with demand. If each model of the console was built in equal proportion then that is just under 1.4m consoles available of the model available to you which isn't that many in the grand scheme of things really.

Oh and I too hope that no one got hurt.

It's really easy to re-download games, just go to 'titles you have already downloaded' I have made tons of purchases and have my ambassidor games and it only takes a few seconds.

I have every intention of every first party Wii U game I buy being downloaded provided the most I pay is about £5 more than retail. Booting games from SD or external HDD having them all ready to go is the only reason I soft modded one of my Wii consoles and i'm willing to pay a small premium for doing that legitimately. I have yet to do this with my 3DS as and handheld could quite easily get lost or stolen in comparison to a home console and if the wireless were to break the whole lot is trapped on that console...unless that is that Nintendo do make an account based solution.

Sorry to break this to you but you cannot play VC or original Wii games on the Gamepad. The console switches to 'Wii mode' displaying on the TV only fingers crossed that they patch that later.

I really don't like that people do this, I just think that if you want something so much pre-order! If not wait until you can get it even if it's frustrating. Besides as soon as it's sold on doesn't make the console pre-owned therefore not in warranty?
