SCAR392 commented on If Chibi-Robo Ever Came To Wii U, He'd Be Very...:

That means Chibi-Robo will be shiny, and the Wii U game will undoubtedly be better than the 3DS games.

There should be a story that makes sure you never have to repeat levels or backtrack through the house, like the other ones.

@rjejr: Never saw this comment... if you see this, your Wii U should be sending Dolby Pro Logic II through the HDMI during Wii mode. You might have to manually change the codec to one of the Dolby Pro Logic II codecs or just leave it at Auto Format Direct(A.F.D.), on the receiver. Those are the only things I can think of, and I have played Xenoblade on the Wii U, but I never had to manually do anything as long as the Wii U was set to surround sound.

@Jazzer94
That's true. I still think it will do well, but not as well as if it would have launched with Xbox One and PS4, because people would have bought it more blindly that way, as did Wii U owners when it came out on that. The hype just isn't there, IMO. Who knows.

PS Vita and Smartglass will probably be a thing.

It could do fairly well. I wouldn't consider it a system seller or must hast have, per se, but it is a decent game that some Xbox One and PS4 owners will no doubt pick up on the side.

If this version was improved and came out on Xbox One and PS4 on launch, then I could have seen it doing really well, then, but it's already been out for a long time and it probably won't be a major improvement to begin with, especially if the Wii U version is cheaper.

SCAR392 commented on FAST Racing NEO Details Finally Exit The Garage:

Any details on why it couldn't be 1080p? If anyone pays attention, Xbox One and PS4 were also having troubles running full 8th gen games(not cross games like Ghosts) at 1080p and 60FPS, with there usually being a trade off between the 2(resolution and framerate), so asking why this is, is relevant in that regard.

He says this, but it probably won't happen. Microsoft would be better off making their own beat 'em. I just see a win only for Nintendo in this case, which is why I don't think it will happen, but if they insist.

I'm fine with the 3D on 3DS, but I do realize the stable 3D feature is better. It gives more reason to buy the system, and it shows Nintendo actually cares about 3D by doing something others aren't.

@gatorboi352
Actually, we could just as easily blame Unity for not supporting 3DS by default, and that's besides that Unity games can run on 3DS as long as they port it.

It's actually Unity's job to make sure Unity works on 3DS; not Nintendo's. Nintendo can collaborate on making 3DS more Unity friendly, but Unity ultimately has to make it happen, because it's their engine.

My brother calls his 3DS a Game Boy all the time, and he knows it's a 3DS. DS has always kind of been a Game Boy with 2 screens. It even played GBA games, and you can buy Game Boy on 3DS VC, so it's not that hard to make the connection. This publication obviously called the 3DS a Game Boy, without all of this mind, which would make it pretty unprofessional, otherwise, I actually agree 3DS is just a way more advanced Game Boy with 3D and 2 screens. It's all in the name, and that's basically it, because they could have easily called it a Game Boy DS or something.

All this means is that Game Boy is still the name some people think of for Nintendo's portables.

It's a decent game. I feel like it's about as good as Mighty Switch Force, albeit a bit longer and more of a different genre. I bought it on sale for like $6 or something.
I feel like the game could have benefited from not having puzzles almost everywhere you go.

I like the visuals, soundtrack, and it's a decent game, but Toki Tori and EDGE were far more worth my time, and I only paid $4 for both of those, which isn't even as much money as this game.

SCAR392 commented on Game Freak’s Director Explains Why TEMBO THE...:

@Kaze_Memaryu - Exactly. That's why I'm saying Nintendo and 3rd parties probably knew these development challenges would happen, so it's not really worth worrying about it.

@Quarthon - Actually, Wii U has next generation PowerPC parts and architecture that Xbox 360 doesn't have, so it's already better on a technical side by default. That's besides that porting from ×86 is an entirely different process than porting from PowerPC. All the games are made to work on last generation, first, THEN 8th generation. 3rd parties haven't even tried to port Xbox One games to Wii U, because they are still busy porting Xbox 360 games to Xbox One and whatever other tasks are easiest.

Also, Epic already said you could get Unreal Engine 4 running on basically anything. The only thing that could possibly be different is graphics, and that's not the only thing going on in games. It's kind of like how Capcom said Resident Evil 4 was only possible on GameCube. The GameCube version had better graphics, but PS2 could still run the game. That's a worse case scenario, but the game itself can still run with less graphics. That's how it always has been. Or how Glover looked better on N64, but PS1 ran the game with less graphics. The same applied to almost every game(games looking better on Xbox/GCN compared to PS2, or games looking better on N64 compared to PS1/Sega)

I thought you were going to show how Super Mario World would look as a 3D polygon game. Just like how some people say there should be a 3D Kirby game, and there actually was one that was cancelled.

Just think if you could explore Yoshi Island with Wii U graphics and fly with the cape and stuff, Mario 64 style.

SCAR392 commented on Game Freak’s Director Explains Why TEMBO THE...:

@Kaze_Memaryu - The people that thought Wii U development was "smooth" were developers that focused specifically on Wii U. The only reason they have to work on ×86, is because it is the majority. In real life, ×86 isn't better or worse than PowerPC, and vice versa.

We are still back in 2012-2013, as far as 3rd party support goes on Wii U. The only thing that has changed, is that Xbox One and PS4 came out and they just can't currently focus on both next generation iterations of architectures. That really is the core reason of it all.

It's just like you say, how everyone is acting all like they just can't do it, when we know it is false, but the point is that they would rather not spend that EXTRA money and do things when they are most convenient. They COULD throw down $3 million or however much it would cost for a Wii U port, for every game, but the cost eventually isn't as high by default, and they would rather go for that.

Most of the games coming out on Xbox One and PS4 could be on Wii U, but they would have to spend about as much on Wii U as they would for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, combined. Nintendo and 3rd parties already knew this(even before Xbox One and PS4 came out), going into 8th generation, which means they planned on working through these types of situations to begin with, so it's not that big of a deal.

SCAR392 commented on Game Freak’s Director Explains Why TEMBO THE...:

It's pretty much the same reasoning why Wii U hasn't gotten many of the games PS4 and Xbox One have, so it's not that surprising. The fact that Game Freak is involved and Nintendo systems won't be getting it for now, should actually emphasise how different of a situation Wii U is in, compared to Xbox and PS.

They just can't currently work on an ×86 AND PowerPC build at the same time, and that's basically what it comes down to.

SCAR392 commented on Hardware Classics: Sega Mega CD:

@Damo - http://www.gamepilgrimage.com/SATPScompare.htm

Most of the reasoning behind why Sega Saturn had worse versions of games, was because they were developed for PS and ported to Sega, and lack of games from dominance of PS. The reason Sega Saturn failed was financial reasons, complicated hardware, and poor management, and that's basically it.

In the very end, the graphics debate between Sega and Sony in 5th generation is subsided by the fact that N64 beat them both completely in 3D and processing power, but I would argue that Sega Saturn would have beat Nintendo both and Sony at texturing, as well as PS1 probably wouldn't be able to handle Nights into Dreams, for example.

It's always a mix of reasons like this; kind of like how everyone thinks Wii U is weak, but it's already runs games like Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Xenoblade, etc. that Sony probably can't even afford to make one of, even with more advanced graphic technology in their hands. The Order has some of the best graphics out there, but the game itself is mediocre.

SCAR392 commented on Hardware Classics: Sega Mega CD:

@Damo
I've read otherwise, but it's not that big of a deal. I've read that the polygon performance was the same on both, but PS was more immediately stable, and Saturn could technically push out more resolution and better textures. The hardware was just too hard to come to terms with, for the extra performance it did have over PS.

Like I said, that's the information I've found about it. This is actually the first time I've ever seen anyone say otherwise on the subject, TBH.

I actually had one of these. My dad just brought it home from a garage sale one day, with Sewer Shark. The only other game I had was Sonic CD, which I bought myself, and I was thinking of buying Snatcher and Mortal Kombat CD, but never did. I had it in 2008 or something, but I just gave it away as a Christmas gift.

I can definitely understand the appeal. From my experience, everyone loved the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, and the really hardcore fans had these.

Also, the Sega Saturn was more powerful than the PS1.

I vote for Rayman in Smash. They work with what they have, so it kind of misses the point that anyone would say they would rather have another character, when Rayman is possibly the one they can get in the game. I still think Konami should get a character in Smash, too. It's more characters, so there's no way to complain.

SCAR392 commented on Rumour: Rayman Could be Planned as DLC in Supe...:

I was actually thinking this the other day, after I bought Rayman Legends, because it made me think about Rayman 2 on N64, Rayman's trophy in Super Smash Bros, and how Nintendo published Rayman in Japan. There's just as much reason to put him in Smash Bros. for Ubisoft, as it is for Capcom, Sega, and Namco to put Mega Man, Sonic, and Pac-Man in the game.

There are also TV shows for some of these characters, so that connects those who watch those shows into the games.

@Darknyht
I understand. I used to install discs on Xbox 360, too, but once games started going to "on demand", I made the jump to digital instead of messing with disc installs. Disc installation is what made it easy for me to understand that files coming straight off the hard drive just run better.

I get that you want disc installs on Wii U, but those games on disc didn't run well, because the 3rd party companies like WB failed at even optimizing the game to run off of disc for Wii U. An installation would have solved the problem, but it technically doesn't need it, which means they poorly optimized it. CoD Ghosts requires installation on everything except Wii U, and it runs basically the same as everything else, which means Activision did a good job in that area, but the game's graphics were still last generation, which is where they failed.

SCAR392 commented on Xenoblade Chronicles X eShop Page Points to On...:

Ya, 22GB isn't even that much anymore. That's more than 1% of a 2TB drive, and people are saying you don't need that much space. If more games were this size or even a bit bigger, 2TB would be filled easily.

It's not that much, because HDDs have gotten cheaper and have more space than even 6-7 years ago.

500GB disappears pretty fast on Xbox One, but it handles memory differently and they are pushing that console a bit harder, as far I can tell. The disc copies still needs installation, too, so it's basically a mirror running in your disc drive, but now I'm just rambling.

@Knux - The funny part about your post on this topic, is that these are people making money from Nintendo's IPs. This doesn't have anything to do with consumers, except the people making Nintendo videos on YouTube.

Angry Joe got a Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, and I think Super Smash Smash Bros; FOR FREE, from his followers, and he's still b****ing about making reviews for Wii U games. It's pretty childish, honestly.

That's kind of what I'm saying. These YouTube people that are posting Nintendo videos are making weak sauce videos and want to get paid. I've seen some PewDiePie videos and they're more boring than IGN. Nintendo steps in and takes their cash. Sites like Nintendo Life and IGN are probably doing fine with all this YouTube stuff, because they are already basically internet partners, as far as I can tell.

SCAR392

They are basically telling people to be as popular as IGN, otherwise your videos aren't good enough. A single website dedicated to video games blows a entire flock of YouTube channels out of the water.

All of this is probably in the mix, as well.

@64supermario
YouTube wasn't even around when these laws were created. You can't call the law outdated, only because it is applying to newer media sites like YouTube, on the internet.

Nintendo is treating their games like something you can watch on YouTube and be done with, and they are entitled to that by ContentID.

They've been dealing with this sort of thing since YouTube first came out in 2005. There used to be a bunch of videos of whatever content that ignored copyright laws or was questionable, and they've worked through all of that throughout the years.

SCAR392

#45

SCAR392 commented on YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Rev...:

@64supermario - This IS the actual law. YouTube created ContentID specifically for companies that want to control their copyrighted material in anyway they want. That has ALWAYS been the law on licensed physical media, but now it has made it's way to YouTube. We've already been over this.

If you think Nintendo is dumb for taking advantage of the policies, then you are entitled to your opinion, but the fact of the matter is that YouTube made ContentID to save their own rears from copyright infringement.

SCAR392

#47

SCAR392 commented on YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Rev...:

These YouTube people crying about the ContentID are pathetic. If I play a game and people hear it from my house, I'm not getting payed, and that's the one thing they specifically make you leave out of their YouTube videos, AFAIK.

So basically, these people are getting payed for being online at all. Last time I checked, it costs money to support the internet, and apparently these fools don't understand that from them taking a cut, if they so please.
