Royalblues commented on Core Console Market Bigger Than Ever, Despite ...:

@hYdeks Well, my main problem with Nintendo games is how little content there is to them. The fact that they are what some deem to be childish is actually alright with me, except for Metroid, where they had the chance to tell a mature story, but dropped it with Federation Force.

It is a true shame. And yeah. It sucks that there is virtually no third party support on their current gen system. I sincerely hope this new NX will have the specs to remedy that. And they need to stop adhering to their tradition as if it has some broad appeal. It doesn't. That's why hardly anywone cares about Nintendo anymore.

@XCWarrior All 6 games plus 7&8 with two extras? And they want us to buy this too?

Nah, chill out with that Capcom. But I can see why they did it. Those games need to be on this current gen's consoles. I imagine they're charging more than 10 USD for this, which is downright insane imo.

@NintendoFan64 Say that every time Nintendo brings an N64 game to the Wii U. Or an NES game to the 3DS.

You guys would say anything to make Microsoft look like bad guys. Microsoft owns the license to the games. They can remake them, re-release them and do whatever they want with them. It is themselves they're stealing from.

But you probably can't see that, can you?

Nintendo fans, the adult ones, are so immature. I don't deserve this collection of games that are available for my Xbox? The level of immaturity there is stupendous.

I don't think you guys are aware of the fact that the people who used to play Nintendo systems 20 years ago are on other systems today because Nintendo just stopped appealing to them. Xbox One fans did not sprout out of thin air, and they did not steal the games that used to be on Nintendo. They are for the most part, the same people who used to play on Nintendo. Something Fanboys like yourself refuses to see.

I don't deserve to relive great memories I had as a kid because the game I'll be playing it on now is not a Nintendo system? That is an asinine statement made by a jealous, short-sighted gamer. Why can't you encourage younger Nintendo fans who were either not around in the 90s or too young to have experienced these games back then to check it out if they also have an Xbox One? Oh, it's because you are too angry to enjoy playing video games, and that is sad.

Young people, if you have an Xbox One, you need to have this game in your library. You can't be blinded by Nintendo rage and jealousy that it's not on the Wii U.

Also, I like the timing of these Soapboxes. It reminds me on the eve of the release of Grand Theft Auto V. You guys released a similar soapbox saying why Windwaker has the best overworld ever, even though it''s totally bland.

You guys love to bicker. Who cares how many platforms whatever game is on. I'm just happy that Smash 4 is successful, but most of you guys aren't. You're mad it's not the most successful game on Earth right now, and make up anything to make yourself feel better, and that's sad.

I like Smash 4, and I'm glad that it is so popular, because it deserves to be.

Awesome! NBA 2K15. It's always good to see a Sports game, and the 2K series has been my favorite for a while. My barber shop hosted a NBA 2K and FiFA 15 tournament a few weeks ago. It was amazing, and they made a lot of money.

I hope I can host a gaming tournament someday.

Nintendo needs to get in touch with the 21st century. I don't care about shooters, but tell smarter stories in your games than "Save the princess" "Chosen Hero" and all that stuff that they have been telling for how many years.

In that regard, I was made furious by Metroid: Federation Force. Metroid is the one franchise where they can tell a dark and thought provoking story, yet they waste their efforts on the 3DS, with cutesy looking monsters.

Also, Star Fox on Wii U looks like a PS3 Tech Demo. Fix it.

Royalblues commented on Ubisoft's Former Wii U Exclusive ZombiU Confir...:

@stsaerox There is a reason SONY didn't revise their controller beyond minor adjustments. It is one of the best controllers of all time, only behind the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers. The Gamecube controller is a joke, and the Wii controller is not optimized for many games, which is why they made a "classic" i.e. "sensible" controller. The Wii U controller is the reason why most companies are not making games for it. They either saw past the gimmick, or figured that development of a Wii U version of a multiplatform game would be too much of a chore.

Although I agree with @Technosphile's sentiment about Mario/Zelda/Metroid only fanboys (which I think is one of the most annoying groups of fanboys in gaming), I also heavily agree with @Pod. I don't expect anything from the port.

Did not much care for ZombiU.

Royalblues commented on Talking Point: Raw Power Isn't Vital to Ninten...:

The first thing they need to do is make their default controller good with no gimmicks. The last decent controller from them came with the 64, and I'd actually argue further back to the SNES.

Then it will be easier for people to make games for the console.

Next we need power. I don't care how good Nintendo's games are. If there are only 6 games on your console, I won't buy it. Simple as that. Third partis are there so that the wait between first party games is bearable.
Third, they need to stop relying on the same franchises. Make up some new stuff.

Nintendo must be kicking their own shins every time they hear of the success of the Playstation and thinking back to what could have been.

I'm glad the game industry went on the way it did, because SONY and Microsoft have been giving us some of the most innovative games and gaming experiences in the past decade.

Royalblues commented on Talking Point: E3 Highlighted Nintendo's Devel...:

3 years is way too early in my opinion to be talking about a new console. Each console is supposed to last a long time, and grow an audience before releasing the next one. At least 5 years, but more is better. Dedicated console players like myself won't go anywhere if the console makers don't release consoles so soon.

But it's okay.

They had better have a killer launch when the Nintendo 10 comes out.

Otherwise, I'm afraid it will be their last console.

Of course, I won't be getting it, since Nintendo has lost my faith in them a long time ago. I just don't want them to be like Sega was in the 90s.

Royalblues commented on Feature: Five Key Moments from Nintendo's E3:

The sad thing is that Metroid as a franchise can potentially be Nintendo's gateway into mature storytelling. Instead they made everything cutesy in Federation Force, and that just sends the wrong message.

You don't even need Samus for a good metroid game. You can just have the game set in the same universe, and have a rich, detailed backstory for the game, and characters that develop over time and conflict. But when you turn a franchise whose overall theme is aloneness and desolation into something like this, of course you are going to drive long time fans away.

But at least new gamers will know the name Metroid. It just won't mean the same thing.

Here's hoping the product itself is good. Someone said the "Luigi's Mansion 3DS" team is behind it, so it shouldn't be too bad at least.

Royalblues commented on Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digi...:

Sorry guys, but on the console front, Nintendo just rendered itself irrelevant. Now I'm off to Xbox/Playstation land in the future.

I can't buy a Nintendo console if I know it's good for 3 games (Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash). As good as they are, I need more than 3 to keep a console in my living room, and Nintendo is not doing any good on providing that.

The NX may be as powerful or even moreso than the PS4 and Xbox One, but at this point, nobody is intersted enough in Nintendo to care, and they'll create this dilemma for themselves for a third console in a row where their technology is in-between generations in terms of power from MS and Sony's current and future consoles. Then there will be the famous "Nintendo's console is too weak for us to make a game for." Not to mention they will try so hard to innovate that they will make hardware that makes it even more of a chore, and more costly to develop for their console, like the Wii U.

It's a darn shame, but it's the truth. Gamers saw through the Nintendo fluff and are ready to move on. So am I.

Good bye Nintendo.

I nearly bought the Wii U a while back. I'm glad I didn't, or else I would have sold it, or given it away to my brother.

This year's E3 solidified my stance: I'm not buying the Wii U period. I highly doubt the NX will have anything for me as well, so I guess I'm done with Nintendo home consoles.

Microsoft is where it's at these days, and Sony is looking good as well, but they are still largely lacking a solid reason to buy their system.

Until SFV.

Wholly met my expectations.

That is to say, I knew it would be mediocre. Shame on you Nintendo.
As much as I know you guys aren't going to like reading this, I feel as if Nintendo is going to leave the console business soon. Just Handhelds and mobile for them. The NX will be Nintendo's last hurrah, unless they really do something to capture the core gaming audience, who, believe it or not, are mostly the same people who played games 20 years ago. We got older, and we expect more than what Nintendo has shown us. Better gameplay, better storytelling, deep worlds. Nintendo just does not offer that.

This reveal was the pinnacle of the word "anti-climax" for any Metroid Prime fans, mysef included.

There can be flame wars all over the Internet over who won this year's E3, but one thing is for sure: Nintendo won't come up in those conversations.

Shame.

@Yorumi Lol

True enough about SONY, but they have to. Nintendo has to as well, but they're more traditional, and like to withhold their stuff. I generally meant companies like Nintendo, Atlus, and other Japanese companies that aren't facing the stiffest competition over hardware.

I know Nintendo is facing such competition, but for some reason, they're excluding themselves.

This was a VERY bad E3 for them. Where is the only Zelda game that matters?

@Technosphile Lol. Yeah, this show is pretty underwhelming. I'm glad I didn't invest money in a Wii U, or the toys.

But at the same time, I feel like these Japanese companies wait to show what they really have until TGS, which they should not do because E3 is literally the biggest stage to show off your games all year.

Such denial here, as expected. The Xbox One is an incredible piece of hardware, as are the Playstation 4 and Wii U. Just because Mario's mustache isn't all over the games does not make it less good.

As a matter of fact, the Wii U has been the most lacking console since even before the announcements of the PS4 and Xbox One.

You guys are just hilarious.
