ReleaseTheBears commented on Reggie Fils-Aime: Fanbase Demands Are 'Insatia...:

Problem being, hardcores don't just play video games to have fun, they live video games or are addicted to video games, and are always looking for novelty or their next fix. You're basically trying to fill an abyss if you concentrate specifically on pleasing them.

ReleaseTheBears commented on Wii U Will be a 'Great Value Proposition':

I think business-wise, $300 (United States and Canada) is probably where they will launch at, maybe $250 if they really want to go for it, including Nintendo Land. It would be a big, big mistake to not make that thing the system pack-in tech demo. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to be around for at least 3-4 more years in similar price-ranges (even if both 720 and PS4 come out next year), and I think those are probably going to receive a lot more continued support that the Wii U could capitalize on with multi-plats.

As for what I'd pay, I'm not going to consider buying one until the first, maybe second price-drop. I don't have a lot of spare money, I don't yet have an HD TV or monitor, and I do want to capitalize on cheap, end-of-gen tech and games (after I finish off the DS with Pokemon Conquest and B2/W2, and the Wii with Epic Mickey 2 and The Last Story, I want to get a PS3 and PSP). Also I want to avoid the RRoD period and let their online functionality work out the kinks before I hop on board. Nevermind eventually getting a 3DS.

The gamepad works as a Wii sensor bar.

ReleaseTheBears commented on Wii U Power Lacks a 'Generational Leap':

I think people are going to be shocked how small of a leap Xbox and Playstation are going to take next-gen. Microsoft and Sony were taught this gen that you don't need competitive tech to make boatloads of cash and Sony's financial empire is on fire and can't take the kind of hit that the PS3 gave them last time. Also, the economy is compared to last time, they cannot release expensive new machines anymore or they will fail. See the Vita.

ReleaseTheBears commented on Talking Point: Reviewing Nintendo's E3 Press C...:

The only things I cared about throughout that entire conference was Reggie's body being ready, Zombie Reggie, NSMBU (decent looking) and NSMB2 (should be a Wario game dammit, greed is Wario's thing). Definite 4/10.

I'm still mad that they didn't tell us what Retro's doing.

ReleaseTheBears commented on Rumour: Blockbuster UK Lists 25 Wii U Games:

I would be completely fine with this list, for the wrong reasons.
I won't be setting aside the money to get a Wii U in the first year, partly because I'm gonna get a 3DS soon and I want to finish off my Wii and DS libraries, and I want to wait out the early period where the hardware flaws/RRoD make themselves known quickly. I'd be cool with that list because I could safely ignore the Wii U without feeling like I was missing something.

ReleaseTheBears commented on Talking Point: Why Skyward Sword Sales Failed ...:

I tend to take the Malstrom view of why SS didn't sell. There's a limit to how long you can wait around hoping for what made original Zelda, Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time good to reappear, and the minds behind modern Zelda seemed to have no interest in making any of that happen. Maybe it will with Miyamoto mentioning a possible LttP sequel, but I won't be holding my breath.

ReleaseTheBears commented on Nintendo Readying Third Party Retail Downloads...:

Thank god. I'm tired of having to snap up games at retail before they disappear forever and/or go through the hassle and inherent risks of using the internet to buy things. I hope this means I'll finally be able to pick and choose my spots with games on Nintendo platforms.
